What I Wish I Knew Before Becoming A Thelemite Occultist

In this video, thelemite occultist Georgina Rose discusses everything she wish she could tell herself before embarking down the path of the occult and thelema, from mistakes she made, misconceptions she fell for, and how her beliefs have changed, she goes through all the things she wish she had known.

Run like hell right now! Jeremiah chapter 17-19. Yes that part they literally eat people and hang them from meat hooks while they are still alive. The only tip I can give you comes in the form of two music videos Katy perry "dark horse" and no that's definitely not a hot cheeto, but human flesh upon eating such your lips become as dry as asphalt and a thirst unquenchable reaches into your heart as a state of sadness and evil unreal becomes you for but a moment as you burp and the stink of human flesh seeping through your skin is so strong anyone else who knows this smell could smell you for miles off. The second and most important video is "other side" by red hot chili peppers and the rest will fall into place.

I've been a Thelemite for a while and moved away from Crowley fanboyism years ago and have recently moved from more formal magick to shamanic spirit work in the tradition of my ancestors and have had so much more happen in a short time versus my lifetime with the traditional occult. I don't want to give up traditional magick and havent felt compelled to but its nice to know others dont see it as an either/or sort of thing.

I just stumbled on this and really enjoyed your video! Can I ask, in your experience as a practicing Thelemite what is the difference between Thelemic work and the Golden Dawn tradition? I'm self initiated in a Golden Dawn style practice, but I will easily admit that I've read a lot of Crowley, done rituals and adopted meditations/techniques out of Liber ABA, etc. Outside of accepting things like the Book of the Law and centralizing your practice around the concept of True Will (in my understanding), what are the major differences in Thelema's approach to magick and the work in general? It has always sounded like there is a lot of common practices adopted by both, whether it's early rituals like the Middle Pillar, pathworking, or later workings like goetia or enochian along with obtaining knowledge and conversation with the HGA.

The Golden Dawn practiced alot of Kabbalistic rituals, and their literature revolved around the teachings of the Zohar as you know Mathers was responsible for translating some profound grimoires that are well known. What I'm starting to understand about our thelemic path is that Crowley was responsible for introducing many practitioners to Mysticism in other religions outside Judaism. That was the layout for kabbalah. Golden Dawn practiced mysticism and magic native to Judaism. The mysticism of thelema is full of eclecticism from Hindu, Egyptian, Taoism, Wu Wei, Christianity, Judaism. I hope this helps.

@@anon-8519 A central tenet of Chaos Magic is "nothing is true, everything is permitted", or some variation of that. Thelema, Druidry, Heathenry, Astrology, all provide a rich well of myth, symbols, and mysticism to draw upon for working magic. These systems speak to me the most. I am of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD). It is a Neo-Druid order that teaches a universal model of Druidry. One can be a Druid and a Christian, for example.

You raise a series of good points and it’s refreshing that nuance is mentioned. I’m of the mind that nuance is of extreme importance. When subjected to nuance we will find anomalous happenstance which in turn creates a probability for more anomalies. This extrapolation is something that I believe raises the importance of personalized rituals and practices. The core beliefs aside from the association with the book of law were something I already was functioning with yet eventually stumbled upon thus giving it a name. A lot of thelemic claimants have rubbed me the wrong way and the political banter is definitely a telltale feature of cherry-picking. There are a lot of contradictory positions I’ve heard mainly from thelemites that subscribe to libertarian ideology. In my experience it’s about 6-8 of 10 that interprets “do what thou wilt” is “do whatever tf u want.” I’ve seen similar in other Kaots. Granted there is a lot of spiritual isolationism amongst folk in general who tow these lines but who on this planet has existed without others’ efforts and accomplishments. We simply don’t pass like ships ignoring the waves. Many philosophies coincide and align with the core beliefs and it could likely be argued that there is an ideological followthru that fits a political agenda. I feel the main issue is the binary comparison of extremes and that hyper analysis of Thelemic texts and teachings will never completely align with some type of rigid governance. There’s no straight ticket. We can certainly eject certain types such as authoritarian or totalitarian subscription but if we look at a macrocosmic/ microcosmic relationship- we’ve all adhered to these formats in smaller yet definitive examples. I have severe autoimmune issues that has destroyed organs and forced replacement and re-learning. Is it my will to destroy myself at a cellular level? Perhaps. So far that has not been stronger than my will to survive and adapt. We forget the selves we experience and eras we go through… seasons of life because they only align with personal benchmarks that typically go unnoticed until hindsight. We forget that our feelings are conglomerate and sometimes conflicting. That cognitive dissonance often shows me a paradox and a learning process which i would have not found otherwise… the joy in sorrow, the liberty of constriction, the pain of comfort… It’d be nice if there was some samepagedness but vetting ulterior and adverse agenda is not possible because we do change - those seasons of life are important to our awareness. I hope your vid has inspired others to send messages to those past seasons and past selves or at least allowed some to ponder the order in which they do things. Pun intended. Namaste 93/93

There is even another passage in his Confessions where he endorse "patriarchal Initiated Kings". He also referred to the OTO structure as ideal for combining seemingly opposed systems in a harmonious way.

I have been studying and have a good understanding and knowledge of ritual magick. I have had quite a bit of correspondence with 2 practicing Occultists via phone and the internet recently and they have both been encouraging me to put into practice all that I have learnt. One of them keeps saying to 'stop putting all your time in just studying and start doing', despite the fact that I am not very good at meditating. So I have been reluctant, and not just because of that, but also there are some things that I don't have and can't make for meself such as robes and a sword, and here in the state of Victoria Australia it is illegal to sell, buy or possess swords and I don't have the skill or tools to make one (besides if you get caught in possession of a sword here, you are likely to incur a heavy jail sentence), so I would really apprecaite it if you could give me some advice or solutions with these setbacks, thanking you in advance.

I've written a few scientific papers on systems, (physical) reality, and consciousness. I mention there some Jungian psychology and synchronicity, but I do my best to keep it rigid rather than superstitious. I'll continue with that work if and only if I become the actual Moonchild's father and give him/her the name Gabriel(a).

I like the concept of deconditioning one's self in order to discover one's "True Will." I don't know why the rituals, etc. are necessary. I'm open to experimenting with them. My questions are: (1) Are the rituals necessary to de-indoctrinate one's self from social influences? (2) What are the advantages of being a Thelemite in discovering one's True Will?

I think you said it perfectly when you said you can't put anyone in a box therefore I don't think that we should put all Catholics and or anyone in any political affiliation into a I think that we all have our own ideals and don't believe which shape us and no one is saying so to say that all Catholics and or any political affiliation all the people in that group in the same is also untrue so I agree with you but I also have to agree to disagree with you on the other thing and again I respect you and I thank you so much for your info

PS: From the Convert by Crowley. Holy.. Crowley… That’s how his last name is pronounced. Not Crowley or Fowl-ey “There met one eve in a sylvan glade A horrible Man and a beautiful maid. ‘Where are you going, so meek and *holy?* ‘ ‘I’m going to temple to worship *Crowley* ‘ “Crowley is God, then? How did you know?” “Why, it’s Captain Fuller that told us so.” “And how do you know that Fuller was right?” “I’m afraid you’re a wicked man; Good-night.” While this sort of thing is styled success I shall not count failure bitterness.”

Hi! Why not do a video on Franz Bardon books/system? You could maybe interview Martin Faulks which is a sincere adept of this path and a very nice person. And if someday you are interested in eastern traditions you could interview a Zhengyi Daoist maybe, for example myself 😉😉😉

I believed in little to nothing outside of the physical world. Then I met a person. I noticed odd behavior. And i saw things I would have never believed to be real/possible. I live in a constant buzzing torture sound that controls most all my sleep and will exhaust me, and hear forced injected thoughts that are sick, dumb, and pervertedly ignorant. It has consumed my mental state. I filmed things happening around me and what I saw on the videos was not of this world (at least, it was not my reality). However, my thoughts are high-jacked and life is a living hell most of the time. It has gone on for almost 8+ years very hard. But i recall odd thoughts as a child as well, but nothing as sick or as evil as these. However, I have had a number of mystical experiences. That are too much to type here & nobody will believe me... even if showing video proof of supernatural - the instant response is 'No i see nothing - now GIVE ME THAT VIDEO NOW!'.... Well, that's kinda weird.. especially coming from my own family. Anyways, im now pretty much in isolation, lost job from a terrible 'tonal torture' that seems to be injected/forced to my brain. It almost killed me. I try to work out, pray, etc.. as it is said to help w this. And medicine does a small bit, but it is a hatred put upon me that is beyond description... But why i ask this to you is because I have a 'narrator' in the mystic experiences, and they told me once that my 'guide' was Alice... I was thinking 'oh, alice in wonder land - ha', but they said meet alice - ALISTER CROWLEY. And an old man said 'Hello David'... i had no idea who he was. So i researched him. ... and this was not 1st mystical experience, but one ore recent. And a ton of stuff happened, but i can't write it all out here.... My point/question is this:: Can you help me? What does this mean? Why are my beliefs near the same as what his were now? (like people being the stars, etc...) In other words - my life was high-jacked. and taken me on a trip to hell. There seems to be many entities in my mind now and they pretend/act like all my thoughts affect them when i think them. Mostly they mock until i get so enraged that i cant take any more. Anyways, I am NOT interested in this, and not a believer in such.... even with these IRL events happening + video proof of things that some i have identified online as entities from weird religions and spiritism. I do not want this. I fight it everyday now, and the only solution i can see is a bullet after this long. So if you can tell me how to stop this, or what to do to make it stop being so damn loud with this buzzing sound that i can not think for myself even, then it would be appreciated. ((There are tons of other things that happened, but i can not write it all out here))

I disagree with your ‘burn out’ view. I think Crowley wrote, “nothing succeeds in magic like excess”. The bursts in effort do not necessarily lead to burnout, rather a period of silent assimilation. Yet you are also correct, steady work is the most parsimonious. As for LARPING Crowley; lol sometimes this has attractions. BTW some folks have the view that Thelema is a philosophy not a religion. The ‘Thelema religion’ is probably half the problem with the matters you raise. Thelema as a religion is probably what Crowley set up for his ‘yahoos’.

Agreed. I always felt that an initial burn out period is necessary. Like ‘the comment’, it’s another test. Will one keep studying/practicing/contemplating when you feel you’re going thru a Dark Night of the Soul? And, Crowley totally LARP’d through the Middle East, Asia, and even Mexico (maybe even in America), heh! Not saying that’s an example to be followed, but assuming a disguise in a foreign land seems like a pretty good testing ground I’m curious tho, what’s your view (or anyone reading) on the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica arm of the OTO?
