What is Enochian Magic ? The Tools and Rituals that John Dee used to Speak with Angels

Enochian magic has fueled the imagination since the first spirit sessions in the 1580s. But, prior to the language of the angels and the apocalyptic rituals of the Liber Loagaeth, Dee and Kelley received complex revelations for the construction of a sacred temple with furniture, vestments and the very ring of Solomon. Included in this revelations were an otherwise unknown retinue of angelic and spiritual beings. All taken together these early Enochian workings are known as the Heptarchia Mystica, the Mystical Rulership of the Seven.

    As a practitioner, I think my favorite thing is finding channels like this one, full of academic and logical standpoints on one of the most mysterious forces in our world: Magic or Heka. We need more of this in my opinion, so we can finally craft magical practice into a more scientific and sound logic that everyone can follow if they wish :)

  • @henrismith7472

    @henrismith7472

    The guys that invented science were practitioners of hermeticism and alchemy. Science is the logical tool they created. Science is dualistic and about creating a perceived separation of the observer and the observed. Hermetic meditation is about realising the unification of your consciousness with the collective consciousness. Hermeticists believe all of existence literally is consciousness. Hermetic meditation feels expansive. Anyway the point is that to do science you have to do the opposite of what you would do to practise magic how they did. Magic is more a system of self improvement than it is Harry Potter stuff. There is a lot of nonsense too. People don't appreciate alchemy as being a system of mental transmutation because they associate it with "idiots" attempting to turn lead into gold. Also there's a wild theory that those beings John Dee used to commune with the angels were these same orbs that keep showing up that are connected to the UFO phenomenon.

  • @Dowlphin

  • @henrismith7472

    @henrismith7472

    4 ай бұрын

    @@Dowlphin Well science wouldn't exist without magic, and yes magic relies on what is outside of intellectual control. Some of the greatest discoveries in science were revealed to scientists. Like the idea just popped into their head. The DNA double helix was discovered on LSD (I need to fact check that actually). It seems like the initial breakthroughs are achieved in a paradoxical state of consciousness to the typical scientific state of consciousness (the intellectual logical state). All of this you can logic away by saying that their brains were simply working in a different way when they had these insights, and you would be correct, but that doesn't contradict what I'm saying.

    I am so pleased that you have reached the same conclusion about Kelly as I. His account of the finding the red powder (possibly red sulphur) at Northwick Hill is a clear fabrication. He claimed to have been led to it by a Viking, but the area was outside of Danelaw. Whilst a few Vikings may have been found in the broader area, it just seems like a complete fantasy. I find it hard to believe that Sir John Dee was so taken in by him, not least as I have a lot of time for Sir John, but largely for his non-magical contribution to learning.

  • @JelMain

    @JelMain

    3 ай бұрын

    You'll find that red powder is a form of gold, in certain processes. It's not a catalyst, the heating involved simply drives the mercury off as gas. However, there is a possibility that they may have stripped the electron shells off - Dry Path implies temperatures twelve times higher than Wet Path (conservation of energy, backwards), and as that used wood, firing at 240-300 C, we're talking plasma temperatures. Then, the question's how to annihilate a proton from the nucleus, producing gold. (Hg's AW is 80, Au's 79).

    It's hilarious how much more coherant your breakdown of the Enochian System in this video is than I've gotten from practitoners in the A.'.A.'. or OTO (which I was in for many years till deciding, after far too many red flags, Thelema wasn't something I wanted to be part of... at least any "orthodox" Thelema which deifies Aleister.) David Shoemaker and Lon Milo DuQuette were the only two I've spoken to who seemed to know much about it. Thanks for making this. I have very little interest in practicing Enochian or Goetia as I have my own methods which jive with me I've developed on my own but I find studying such things fascinating and important to history (esoteric and exoteric). Random questions: Is anyone aware of whether or not the SRIA practice Enochian? Is anyone in the comments a practitioner of Enochian and if you are what draws you you to it? What do you feel it gives you that other practices do not?

It is possible that individual colleges might have classes on them, but there is no Enochian in their degree work and rituals. Regarding why doing Enochian and what it gives you, it's simply a more immediate connection with the Other than any other system I ever worked with. It should also be said that it's my experience that the real "goal" of the system was to usher in an apocalypse, i.e. moving from the previous Aeon to the current. It obviously succeeded in doing so.

    Amazing. This is surely associated Venus and the Virtues, the placements mentioned here and the specific or appointed Angels and the practices and knowledge I’ve personally attained, are as you mentioned, for the most part, as I AM still learning about what to do with the Magic Squares, and the Angels of the hours of the days. This is just awesome. Gratitude and Peace 🙏🏼💫

    I'm really enjoying your videos! I went down a bit of a youtube rabbithole on this subject after listening to the BBC's audio drama, "The Lovecraft Investigations" (which I highly recommend to everyone), and it's fun to finally learn more about these fascinating mythologies and beliefs. Keep up the great work!

    I'm fascinated with this subject for two reasons Firstly John Dee's communications seem so constant, recordable and positive in the beginning and yet seem very obviously twisted in their purpose towards the end? And also I found it surprisingly difficult to find any practical examples of people using such magick & yet there seems a lot of positive comments about it all...
