Should you move the bar?

Applicable to dead lifts. So he sampled part of an old vid for dead lift, literally took part of an old vid and inserted it into this one. so if you are dead lifting "do not move the bar". he was referencing part of the 5 step instead of making a whole new vid. Same Basic set up, of dead lift. Made a lot of sense to me to make dead lift set up a reference because if you don't have a decent postured dead lift, chances are you won't have a nothing for a bent over barbell row.

As a beginning lifter, this video as well as your deadlift video have really helped me a lot.I really screwed up my back doing deadlifts incorrectly and since I started following your instructions for the set up to a T, all has been well. Thanks much.

I 'm finding it virtually impossible to lift weights without moving the barbell, but I'm afraid of Alan, so I'm just going to start doing yoga while staring at a stack of plates and see how quickly my muscles grow like that.

Been watching for years. Caught myself at the gym earlier today doing a funny looking barbell row. Now I’m here making sure I did it right. I didn’t, which is why my lower back feels funny. Always good to have these videos to know what’s what and what’s not!
That Deadlift setup recap was gold. "DO NOT MOVE THE BARBELL" 🤣🤣
Hey great video. Short, sweet, to the point and still giving great advice so many years later. Really helped me know where I was Messing my row up. Thanks

Great short and sweet video. Added Pendlay rows for the first time this hypertrophy block, so this was timely and appreciated.
Thanks man. I've just started doing these as a warmup for my benches on Friday and reviewing form here really helps me out.
Your vids have been recommended to me through my older brother, who also lifts. Since I had been training weighted calisthenics till October (I did not have enough equipment to rely on weight solely), excercises like deadlift or bb ohp, even bb squats were something really new for me and I am honestly very thankful for every advice I've received from you and my big bro. Thanks a lot!

He's really bad at controlling the eccentric part of the movement. If you're doing rows, you should really try to control the bar on it's way down, to at least achieve a negative motion that lasts for more than a second. He's leaving a lot of gains on the table with the form he's showing off in this video. From an exercise science perspective, this is not great, as good as his form is for the active part of the movement.
Thank you so much, I've been searching for a great in depth barbel row video and you covered everything that i wasn't sure about!
Thanks for the vid. There are so many points of contention on the B.B. row, you covered them all. Train Untamed!
I love that Alan doesn't sweat the small stuff when it comes to teaching these lifts.
Allan I love your work man , and your life as it’s presented through train untamed. Thanks for everything !!!!!!!

was glad to see this after the bar swung out on bb row and tweaked my back, cheers Alan

You should finish your Untamed Special series
This was by far the best video to explain it. Thank you
These instructional videos have been really helpful. And he's so entertaining
Just a tip for anybody doing 5x5/starting strength. Do a bench grip, as the row is implemented as the opposite of the bench

Recently, I really confused how to do barbell row properly. It's not a competition lift, so every people do this their own way. Your explanation helps me. Thanks :)
Back day today, this really helped! Never been happy with my rows before, this and the deadlift video have been essential for me to progress safely, thanks!
fantastic video Alan, I really needed this.
Awesome video thank you. Very informative and falls in line with what I've learned. I found it reassuring as a long time lifter.

Your little 'Do NOT move the barbell!' segway made me proper laugh, had to rewind to watch it again :D
love your stuff ! keep up the good work mate , Kamran from Brisbane,Australia ~
Ironically, training untamed benefits from being strict and uniform with your lift form.
I just started rowing, and boom! This video shows up!
Sir you are Legend..and my favourite trainer 🤘
I've actually done both Pendlay Rows off the floor and Bodybuilding-style Rows off a rack. I'd recommend both, but not necessarily in the same program. Meanwhile, I've noticed I can use a lot more weight for the latter, owing to the more upright torso angle.
after watching this video, i just stay in that position and just don't move shit. Today i woke up, completely ripped. THANKS!
Great tips. Thank you for sharing, Alan.

Although Jeff has you start it from an elevated position in the rack. I've been trying them like that for a few weeks, and I really like it. I feel like I can really emphasize my back strength without worrying about smacking my knees or losing tension.

Axl rows..love it
Alan, I love you. I could not help but notice that your old row videos are divergent from your current set-up and motion. This is a much needed video as it is critical to move the barbell over the midline of the body in order to most efficiencly fight against the force of gravity and lift maximal weight.
Awesome tutorial!
Great video man.
