Barbell Rows To Build A THICK BACK!

Lacking thickness from the side? Then you need some barbell rows in your life... let's get after it.
It's funny at several points in my life I've drifted back into ego lifting and pulled way more weight then I should have but even when that happens I still saw progress while when I did this with other lifts the results were dismal. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that if you get your stance down and load that back correctly then even ugly form gets results.
Let me know what video you want next and get f'n after it!

the form tip you mention about the legs on the bent over row makes perfect sense. I realize ive been using bad form on those on account of bending my knees too much. Ive been lifting since my teens and am now 42 years old, although due to years with two slipped discs back exercises bent over like that Ive only been doing the past couple of years since surgery in 05 but just goes to show you never stop learning. thank you

I always do some warm up sets to get the mind muscle connection sharp. And the warm up set are used with the lightest barbell or just my fist clenched with the motion of doing a row. I pull back till I stretch completely and feel my lats and back muscles. I keep changing the angle of bend till I hit and feel every muscle in the back starting slightly upright and then fully vertical, and keeping hands close to the body.

One of the challenges with working out alone is accountability to keep focused on the workout. Can get distracted with prepping to get yourself motivated or watching too many ideas for a workout that you run out of time. So many DIY home gym ideas, you can spend time getting everything right and not actually have time to work out (guilty). I watch one of your videos typically to motivate me to just get it done!!

@Ryan Humiston , i have a question id love to get answered by you, Is there any disadvantage to using an EZ curl bar for bent over underhand/overhand rows? for some context i am new to lifting, making the transition from home gym to a real gym, i can comfortably do 15reps at 50kg EZcurl rows and feel i connect perfectly with it although using the thicker straight bar at the gym (as shown in your videos) i struggle to grip and perform the row in good form and when i can (with less wieght) it doesn't feel like im really hitting the back as well as i do at the home gym, So, should i keep at it and struggle to correct the straight bar row and stick to my EZ curl bar, id love to hear your advice or the advice from the comments

Athlean X has some good upper chest videos and removing shoulder from the movement. Best tips for me were 1. To really nail that upper chest try reversing the grip with dumbbell incline presses (palms facing toward you). 2. To remove shoulders from the lift: lighten up the weight and focus on pulling your shoulders down and back and keeping them there while you focus on the chest. It will feel awkward at first but you will get a hell of a connection with the chest and might even feel good. Good luck!
