Application after a shower while the hair is wet does help distribute the topical. This will dilute the product. From personal experience, my hair has filled in after applying the topical to wet and damp hair.

Hello Doctor, I’m from Europe and I’m very thinking about starting the topical finasteride. Regarding the topical I don’t know which percentage I have to start. Do you think 0.025% without minoxidil is a good start? By the way, what are your thoughts on oral minoxidil? Here, in Portugal and Spain is very common now a days for doctors to prescribe OM. The optimal dosage of minoxidil is 5%. Most patients do not see any added benefit apply a minoxidil concentration higher than 5%. For finasteride concentration, the opitimal starting dosage is .5%. Oral minoxidil has been around for years. It is a nice band aid.

Keep in mind if your hair is bad enough already, you may also need to add in something like ru58841 or some other anti-androgen to occupy the receptors that finasteride doesn't effect, since it of course doesn't stop 100% of the effects of DHT and maybe even testosterone on hair.

I have been using XYON 2.5% topical finasteride with 3% minoxidil gel daily for the past 1.5 months. After the first 2 weeks I noticed some sides such as loss of sex interest and more importantly loss of morning erection (which I used to have daily before starting the topical gel). To exclude the psychological effect, I kept using the gel daily hoping things would change if it was only in my head. Unfortunately, It’s still the same sides. My concern is that this 2.5 % is super high dose (=25 mg finasteride on scalp). So even if very little absorbed, say 5% of the 25 mg, it means 1.25 mg goes systemic which is like an oral dose). Any insight or feedback ?! On a side note, not sure if it’s of any relevance, two weeks after starting the gel, I experienced problems in the two arms joints (shoulder and elbows) little pain and stiffness especially at night. This never happened to me before so I wondered if it’s related to the finasteride or it’s just a coincidence!!

Try going as low as .5 % finasteride with 3% minoxidil. There is still a risk of systemic side effects. Other than the loss of morning wood, are you still able to get it up if you try? In regards to joint pain, the is the first reported case that I have come across. Have you changed anything else in your daily routine?

While topical finasteride begins its action right away, it takes time for your hair follicles to start generating new hairs. Typically, you'll have to wait three to six months before noticing any shifts in your hairline or thickness after commencing treatment with this treatment.

Disregarding misconceptions, frequent scalp washing won't lead to additional hair loss. Ensure proper care by consistently cleaning not just your hair but also your scalp when using this treatment. This prevents any accumulation that might hinder the solution's effective absorption into the scalp. you can wash your hair everyday other day but you need to let the topical solution to absorb in your skin so we recommend to do it before bed each night and wash in the morning.

Yes more of it is absorbed by the hair than by the scalp with the tapping method. Tapping is also very benfitcial to those that like to style there hair every few days and cannot mess is up by rubbing it in. If you were to compare the results for tapping vs. rubbing there probably won't be a visible difference. The benefit of rubbing the treatment is time. It is far quicker to rub the topical in than it is to tap. The chief complaint about the topical is the amount of time it take to treat the area. Regardless of the method, it is better to be on a topical than not do anything at all.@@eventhorizoneventhorizon2021

@@chnik916 You can mix both solutions into one solution. As an example for 1 month: 30 ml with 5 % Minoxidil (Daily dose 1 ml with 5 % Minoxidil) + 4.50 ml with 2.275mg/ml Finasteride (Daily dose 0.15 ml -> 0.341 mg Finasteride daily) = 34.50 ml with 4.35 % Minoxidil and 0.297 mg/ml Finasteride If you are using both solution separately you get 5 % Minoxidil and 0.341 Finasteride daily. If you mix them together like shown above, with 1 ml of that mixed solution you get: 4.35 % Minoxidil and 0.297 mg Finasteride daily. That's a bit less, ... not much. But if you use round about 1,15 ml instead of 1 ml daily, you get the same as if you,re using both solutions separately. And it's much easier to apply that mixed solution. To mix it is not as complicated as it seams. I just put one half of my 18 ml 2.275mg/ml Finasteride bottle into one 60 ml 5 % Minoxidil bottle, and the other half into a second 60 ml 5 % Minoxidil bottle. That's it. That's a mixture for 4 months. And I just apply 1ml of it, because a daily dose of 1 ml 4.35 % Minoxidil and 0.3 mg Finasteride is absolutely okay, because I apply a second 1 ml dose with only Minoxidil. In the morning 1 ml 5 % Mionxidil and in the evening 1 ml of the Minoxidil + Finasteride mixture.
