This video was a great help. My bike sat all winter. I brought it back out to fire it up and I felt little compression. I tried a little oil in the jug to get things lubed up but nothing changed, new plugs...same thing...finally I came across this video. took less than 30 minutes to check and adjust 2 valves that were out, both intake valves were tight. I gave the starter a couple of slow kicks and I felt compression again. Put the tank and seat back on and gave it a few kicks and fired wright up and runs great now. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for these video. I have a newly bought 1996 250r this series has been a tremendous help.
Super thankful you made this video I wanted to know how to do this
Maybe worth adding, when locating TDC, if the crankshaft passes the T mark slightly, never rotate engine clockwise to get back to the T. Even if its just 1mm and tempting. It will trigger one-way decomp and screw up clearance reading on RHS exhaust valve. Instead, rotate engine twice counterclockwise to get T TDC again.

What happens if the bike kicks itself backwards when trying to get it started?

This helped so much!!! Right after I adjusted the Valves. The bike fired up first kick. Now the bike is super easy to start. Thanks you so much.

Thank you for watching!
I have a 1986 XR250R and I have a Honda shop service manual. My book is for 1986-88 and it list the valve clearance @ 0.002 for intake & 0.003 for Ex. I work at a Honda dealership as a factory trained Honda mechanic in the 70s and all the small bikes ,50s,70, 90, 100s ,125, 150s 175s all adjusted a 2 & 2, The larger bikes at that time set at .002 intake & .004 on the exhaust.
Does this work on any XR's ? I have an Xr200r 2000 model. Will it work ??
i have an intermittent tapping coming from mine,i am going to check the valves, how do i check the cam chain tensioner?
This is one of the better if not best high Def and easy to follow guide. Most of these videos are shot with potatoes by some young clowns with poor lighting
can anyone tell me the valve clearance of XR150L thanks.... I can't find it on the owners manual ....
What were the 2 Allen wrench sizes to remove the plugs to check the timing position?

Sorry I’m 6 months late, he got them as part of the tusk street legal kit, you can buy them separate out of the kit though. Sorry I don’t have the link, but they aren’t hard to find on Amazon or Rocky Mountain.
Its a 17mm to turn the nut
