Al Haymon is not a licensed promoter and is only an "advisor" to these fighters. he's essentially bypassing the Muhammad Ali Act that prevents people from being a promoter and manager at the same time as it is clearly a conflict of interest. That's why he cannot be seen at press conferences promoting fights and uses other promoters to po promote the fight. Plus he's already been sued for this by Golden Boy and he knows he can't give them or anyone else any evidence to use against him in the future.

Good clarity on the situation. I guess eliminating the “promotional” title and putting more money in promoting the event puts more money in boxers purses. I’m assuming he lets Showtime and Fox networks promote the fights. However his fighters are not active enough and we don’t get the big cross promotional fights often.

@@divine1son those are tv programing platforms they're the ones that shell out the money for promoters to put that said promoters fighters on they're network. The problem is there is no real structure into building a fighter into a superstar with the exception of Gervontae Davis and Errol Spence who would be big if not bigger fighting for other promoters. All the fighters that came over from Golden Boy were already developed and had a following. But these fighters are fighting on one fight contracts with no rea schedule or plan in mind for any particular fighter and will even use fighters to deny fight fans the fights we want to see because of some personal/professional issues with other promoters.

Beautiful explanation. I always believed that to be the case. The moment Haymon shows any signs of being a promoter, he is at risk not only for Lawsuit but possibly losing his company. I believe in 2015 Dela Hoya tried to sue Haymon for 300million related to the Ali Act. This is also the reason why All the big name PBC fighters have their own promotional companies which in return translates to more back end money for those fighters.

Haymon fighters are not active at all. And when they do fight, it's against someone you know they can beat, That's not what real fans want to see. You must be black. Because black people care that Haymon is "black" not that he is good for the sport.

That used to be the case. But them days are over. . Pbc boys ain't making no money. They fight once per year for 1.5 million guaranteed. Google your favorite pbc fighter guarantee for their fights over the last 3 years. You'll be surprised what you see. Plant and benavidez got a 2 million dollar guarantee for a ppv fight against each other. Haney made more as the B side on regular espn. Shakur made the same fighting a nobody on espn.
