Timothy Bradley tells the story on why him and Floyd Mayweather never fought each other. Money prevented the fight from happening.
I made a business decision and resigned with Top Rank. Floyd never wired me the money to secure the fight.
Timothy Bradley explains how fights get made on the financial side of boxing before the fight is made.
It can take years for fighters to get paid from the backend of PPV's.
He educates fans on what does it mean to be the A-Side in boxing.

    Bradley came out his mouth saying Top Rank don't do business with Haymon. Then turns around and says EJ is ducking Bud. Bradley let Arum make him rich and that's why the fight never happened. Arum wants to be the only one to touch the money. That's why Top Rank don't co promote the big events.

  • @gregoryquattlebaum5435

    @gregoryquattlebaum5435

    Жыл бұрын

    All of the promoters have the same mentality for real, Arum and Haymon have issues but sometimes they get something done on smaller fights. The fight never happens because Floyd could take an easier fight and not have any drama with Arum since he also did not want Arum to make any more money off his name. Part of the reason that the Floyd vs Manny fight took 5 years was because Floyd hated Arum and did not want him to benefit from this mega fight that got stale.

    The network has to send the PPV#. Audits are done in so many places because there are so many companies involved. Every cable system has shareholders. Showtime and HBO etc. have shareholders. The promoters have partners. The tax man also is monitoring the PPV#. The sanctioning bodies also demand the ppv# to determine their favored promotors and they get a % when its a title fight. The venues sometime get a cut. Tim doesn't know because he never took back end money.

I respect and love Crawford as a fighter/boxer I just feel he picked and choose competition for easier fights. While Errol seems to always try to fight the best options. He Crawford is getting washed by Spence when and if they meet. More than solid chin and defense. I feel they offensively and defensively underrate him. And when he starts pounding away at Crawford w/ body shots and landing that beautiful jab Crawford won't be able to overcome that insane type of pressure. Never seen a fighter that pressures and breaks down opponents like he does beside my favorite fighter Marvin Marvolus Hagler. R.i p

    Tim is bright. He was on top of his business. Wasn't just sittin around playing slow, or having someone or a go between look after his affairs. He was bright enough to comprehend the total business cycle of boxing. So he rolled up his sleeves, and got engaged. So if you don't understand something, you start thinking - he's whack or a turn-coat uncle tom. Don't downgrade the brother because he's got his shit together. Floyd also made business decisions, Tim would have been a hard fight and he would still would not have won but still Floyd made a decision not to fight him, there was no one who would not have taken a fight with Floyd, that was a career high payday for everyone not named Manny, Oscar or even a young Canelo. It was actually Haymond who got fighters to over price themselves when he first got that hedge fund money and was paying fighters a mil or more for bs fights. he signed up as many fighters as he could forcing other promoters to also overpay their fighters in order to keep them and make fights, but then the money ran out, fans got tired of the bs PPVs, piracy skyrocketed, but fighters are now hooked on those 7 figures paydays especially the PBC fighters who now are fighting on the average once every 14 months.

The last young champ Mayweather fought was probably Cotto, at 31, but he did that 5 months after the plaster fists incident with Margarito. I think Mayweather probably would have beaten Bradley...but Floyd didnt take a lot of 'probably' fights in the last stretch of his career.

    I agree with some of what Tim Bradley on somethings but when it come up about Mayweather fighting Conner McGregor. Yes it was a sanction fight and he did have a boxing licenses as well, but I understand that Conner wasn’t a full-time committed boxer. But if the boxing sanction bodies acknowledge he is qualify him to be a challenger , he is entitle to face Mayweather when he agree. Authority according to the U.S. Army definition; is when a group of people agree that one person is given authority . But I understand stand why that would be questionable but it does count on his boxing record as 50-0 . In my opinion , Bradley is bias when it come to Top Rank because as he stated ,’’they made him rich’'.

    So the Promoter has deals directly with networks like Showtime, PBC, ESPN , etc. The Promoter gets a percentage of the - Fighter's Purse - PPV sales - Network sales - the backend money from DirecTv, Verizon, Dish, ComCast, Cox Cable etc. - Promoter gets 50-51% of $102 Million from this Gervonta vs Ryan fight at $85 / 1.2 Million buys - Promoter keeps the gate sales from those high tickets sales as well. Celebrities were paying $50,000 on average, and the place seats 50,000 butts and its packed past capacity. See why Floyd started Mayweather Promotions after he beat De La Hoya and many fighters followed suit soon after.
