Did Israel really get the biggest slice? No one is bitching about the huge chunk given to Jordan? Israel didn't even get the best parts in the original deal. And Bassem seems to argue that the land was just taken. It was won in defensive conflict. Now he want Palestine to revert back to the 1948 agreement after attacking and losing and attacking and losing. Israel gave much of the land they acquired back in peace deals. No such peace was wanted by Palestinians. And his analogy about Ukrainians taking 20% of England is completely flawed. England is a functioning developed democracy. The middle east land after the fall of the Ottoman empire was no where near that. His final comment is in bad faith. Why? Because they clearly don't won't to live under constant threat of rocket attacks and targeting of civilians. He doesn't have a solution because there is a disconnect in what he wants and what is possible.

The UN's leaders prefer to maintain the Palestinians' refugees status because they get tons of money and power in behalf of the "Palestinian cause". The UN have 2 refugees agencies - UNHCR for around 100mil refugees around the world, and UNRWA only for the Palestinians. It's just absurd that the Palestinians still see themselves as refugees for 75 years. They could already have their own country but their leaders have refused any attempt for peace during the history (including the Oslo and Camp David talks in the 90s and 00s) and have never offered an alternative. Their "refugees camps" (prior to Oct-7th) are actually proper cities. Their leaders are corrupted, they prefer to get the money coming from donations, keep the people poor, and always blame Israel for all their problem. They teach their ppl about war and revenge (over events from the last century in which both sides weren't flawless) instead of peace and compromise. They never really try to SOLVE the problem but they rather USE the problem for their own good......

Also in the 90s, they agreed to a two state solution, and have agreed many times. Israel will not stop building settlements, and refuses to do land swaps in the west bank, they are stealing land and have a different rule for settlers next to the people that have lived there for 500 years. Every human rights watch in the world agrees it is an apartheid state. Also, yes the Muslims countries can do wrong things, I don't think anybody agrees that the civil wars and terrorism is right, but they also deserve a home on land that multiple generations lived on before 1948, do they need a change of mentality, sure, I agree with that. But Israel has knowingly funded terrorism before to drive a wedge between factions to make sure a two state solution does not happen, that is evil and wrong. Palestinians deserve a country, if then, they fight, then I think anybody would agree, that is wrong, but without statehood, they cannot defend the building of settlements on occupied territory. I mean, look at the voting records yourself, the UN has clearly on mass, wanted this to be over for 20 years, the United States veto's it, and when the Palestine have a moderate government, they fund terrorism, to create blow back and then take more land. It is almost like it is planned. Israel have given up respecting international law, they are just as bad as Hamas, the only difference is, they kill more Muslims then Hamas kills Israelis. Both as bad as each other. They have become the very thing they fight in the process, they are full of nationalists and do not listen to anything. The thing is, the innocent people on both sides are the victims of the leaders.

Should ask him why the kingdom of Jordan exists without protest. The kingdom of Jordan was a gift to the Hashemites from Britain for opening another front on the Turks during WWI. They put Hashemites sons on other thrones in Syria and Iraq. Jordan was 78% of the mandate and Palestinians and the Arab world do not protest that it was created as a country. Palestinians do not try to claim Jordan. It’s about keeping Jews as Dhimmis. The land was split between Muslim and Jews based on where each had majorities. Most of what Jews were given was desert. He fails to mention that Jews had lived continuously in the land since biblical times. It is a shame none of the other ethnic minorities of the Middle East were able to advocate for themselves to become their own nations. Because Jews were in exile, they had the ability to be heard by the League of Nations and eventual UN. The other minorities were gerrymandered off the map and turned into Arab countries: Amazighs of North Africa, Copts of Egypt, Assyrians, yazidis, Kurds, etc.

It's not quite accurate, Israelites were kicked out of Israel by the Assyrians and the Babylonians, Muslims came later and conquer the land. However, it's still not the same, Palestine, unlike Britain, was never a country, it was a conquered land passed from one conquerer / occupying force to the next, until the British ended their mandate for occupying Palestine. It would be similar if Britain was not a country but only a land, which was the homeland of the Ukrainian people which were kicked out of there by Christians, but still continually keep presence in Britain, later to come to Britain after the mass murder of Ukrainian people across the world. It would be similar if the UN and the occupying force of the land of Britain were to decide to split Britain into two Nations, which the British natives would object to and the Ukrainian people would decide to declare their own country in that land in the parts it was given. It would be similar if the native British would then open a war trying to destroy what remained from the Ukrainian people, and loose more of their land in the process of said war.

Mandatory Palestine was mostly inhabited by arabs at the turn of the twentieth century. In 1920, you had 80 Jews for every 600 Muslims. Ten years later, that ratio had risen to 80 Jews per every 350 Muslims. After the great war, the ratio was almost 1 to 2. And then the brits just gave them half the land. Because, you know, the poor jews. What do you mean, there are already people living here? who cares? The two state solution was a disaster from the start.

Ask any '48 Palestinian about whether the quality of life would be better if Israelis controlled the land or if it was the Palestinians, they would overwhelmingly say that it would be better under Israeli rule. However, if you asked them if they would be OK to allow Jews to live amongst them in a Palestinian-controlled country, they would overwhelmingly say "fuck that."

Thankyou KK for sticking at it until Bassem finally admitted that he hasn't a single practical solution to offer, just historic grievances and a thirst for revenge. He suggested nothing that would allow this conflict to end nor any positive vision for the future. If he trully is representative of the Palestinian people I feel sorry that they seem to lack a single achievable objective. Perhaps we need to hear from someone honest enough to adnit to what the solution really looks like from the Palestinian point of view? Perhaps 'Son of Hamas' would have a better understanding of what their real objectives are? Bassem either doesn't know or he doesn't want to admit it.

We have a treaty w the Maori's, it's not worked but better than the terrorism and fighting for especially the kids. On Multiculturalism I remember a businessman telling me, (here & I imagine other Western countries) are really run by big business. Big business is banks, hence "cashless" they're pushing for, as well as multiculturalism because it brings in cheap labour and people to buy products, more houses to build and sell, and that's the driver. The shareholders are always after more, so the workers are so squeezed & powerless, it becomes too expensive to have a family so in the West the rate of having children has diminished & the Govt and businesses don't care, as they simply bring in more workers and money from overseas. People in NZ are leaving for Australia for a better life, and the Government tells us it's fine as more are coming into the country. People can't chat to colleagues as they chat amongst themselves in their own language and it doesn't matter, those in power continue to rein in more power, & divert attention to how bad things are overseas, or cigarettes, or some other diversions. It's not going to change because there's no one to vote in most Western countries anymore.. it's not about the people, it's about their own power. Otherwise they'd be investing in the younger generations, & looking to support the family unit instead of working everyone dry and expecting women to leave their children w strangers in institutions at ages so young, they've not even had time to become an individual personality with freedom & play or have a childhood. Everyone is expected to work long hours. And I think it's why our Western countries are loosing each year, the freedoms & great lifestyles as well as community that was built over time. And they built for the next generation.. not just until the council ticked it's boxes.
