Shame their reliability is horrible. I’d seriously go for one if it wasn’t because every single owner of a recent Hyundai owner I know has serious problems with it. Many of those owners call it a good temporary car. Past 100,000 you definitely don’t want to own those things. And in the mid term you will know the guys at the dealer by name. Kind of like Ford.

Hyundai and KIA are really making the competition look ridiculous - great car thanks for the introduction. By the way, wheels are definitely not the first thing I notice from a car - but then again, I also know some women who are first looking at peoples shoes before they inspect the rest attached to the shoes 🙂 "Excuse me, there is something on your shoe - oh that is you" 🤣

Frameless door windows suck, by the way. Good to know they skipped on that. As someone living in an area with actually cold and wet winters and having to deal with frameless windows I can tell you: they're annoying. Noise and temperature isolation is worse. They freeze much more readily and you then often can't pull them open by force without breaking something. They're also a lot more "rattle-y" when they're lowered. They're necessary on convertibles, obviously, but they make no sense on anything else.

Just plain awesome !!! Great review ! Kudos to the most professional and useful channel about electric cars and the lovely presenter. You make me crave for one of these; unfortunately where I currently live it's nearly impossibile to have a decent home charging station so far ... :-(
Smart on top... going for a run on the bottom. Loving the electric car reviews!
Considering the shift away from upscale sedans, this is a surprising addition to the line-up. Afterall Hyundai canceled the Sonata. The Model 3 sedan is still selling well though so that was probably part of the reason.
Seriously good looking vehicle which will offer great value at the suggested price points.
And one more thing: It's can be use to charge other car as well ! When your friend or family EV was stuck because of out of battery, IONIQ can be helpful
Nice video. The coefficient of drag (CD) difference between 0.21 (ioniq 6) and 0.20 (Merc) is not 0.1 it is 0.01.

The Chinese EV makers would be popular in China; the South Korean everywhere else.
@BillFlavell
Жыл бұрын
@@tooltalk South Korea has two significant car brands, China has a dozen or more, and, like the Koreans, they are producing excellent electric cars in most segments at great prices. The difference is China is the biggest car market on the planet, and the Chinese manufacturers have focussed on that market so far, but now they are turning their attention to the rest of the world. They are coming, and they will eat many legacy automakers for breakfast. Everything is changing. We are headed towards a world where Tesla, BYD, Dongfeng, FAW, SAIC Motor and Geely Group dominate. Hyundai/Kia are doing many of the right things and will probably survive, but they have weaknesses; their volume plans for EVs are far too cautious (despite making such great EVs), and they plan to continue making their ICE cars for too long. More interesting questions are how many Japanese makers will survive, what will be left of GM and Stellantis in 10 years' time and which German makers will fall? Certainly, the world car market will be very different in 2033.

@@BillFlavell : "they plan to continue making their ICE cars for too long..." is it like Germany now having to fall back on coal b/c of they had overly optimistic green energy transition? @michaelma3385

@@BillFlavell I agree with you! I think the situation is very similar to the mobile phone market right now. Old traditional brands like Nokia, Motorola (BMW/Mercedes), they were loved by people around the world, but they're too scare of making change and improving their products, maybe they thought what they have is good enough to satisfy people, or they can keep their loyal customers forever, but slowly they're out of the market like now. When Tesla drop the bomb of EVs 10 years ago, it was just like Apple first launching their IPhone, and Korean brand like Samsung know smartphone is the future and just chasing up so close, up to now, Samsung actually having the highest market share globally, and they're just keep evolving and improving, like the new foldable phones (although this year's Fold 4 is actually their 4th gen folding phone already) And now, Hyundai/Kia is doing pretty much similar like what samsung did, they change their design from an old boring style into somewhat futuristic style and got the like across the world. Japanese phone brands like Sony, they use to make some satisfying phones as well, but they're just too focusing in the market of Japan, they didn't look too much into what other people like in other countries, same kind of mindset with Toyota/Honda, so their EV evolution is just starting way behind in compare to Korean/USA brands Chinese phone brands like Huawei/Xiaomi, they make "Okay" stuff in a decent price as well, but people around the world are still worry about their reliability and longetivity (like Huawei disappeared in western country after just a few years), and maybe they'll be lack of support in just a few years time, which is similar situation like BYD/NIO now So, I'm not too sure about Chinese EV brands

Beautiful EV! I really like it, but… I'd rather have the Ioniq 5 with its hatchback. I'm tired of the impractical trunk in my Model 3, and the Ioniq 6 has that same limitation.
@petesig93

One killer with the Ioniq 5 for me is that hatch has no wiper on the screen. Where I live, with dirt roads, rainy days and snow going to the ski-fields that is going to become a blind rear window REALLY quickly, especially with the airfoil at the top of the hatch. I'd rather not have that for the $70,000 price tag. This Ioniq 6 looks to have a much better design, with a 610km range to boot!
reminds me SAAB 900 design. love it!
Finally more sedans!
Beautiful SUV. Wow. Would love to go for a spin
I'm liking this Ioniq 6 a lot better in black! Hey Tish which is now your favourite this or that black Ev6? I suppose this is newer and cooler, but I think the ev6 would be more practical...

Frameless doors? What are they good for? Additional noise?
How will it perform on wintery road conditions? Snow will inherently build up around the wheel wells and road salt is something to factor in. Additionally, skid control on an icy road is critical and will snow and ice prevent you from using the door handles? Are there defoggers in the windows and ice melters on the side view mirrors? I haven't seen a crash test yet. Are they securely built strong enough to withstand side and rear impact? So many questions to be resolved before I plop down 50k.
It remind me of my first car a 06 Hyundai Tiburon 😂 I love it
I've got the ioniq hybrid and very happy with it and efficient for taxi.the only thing I dont really enjoy is the seats.they are not comfortable for long driving but I added a pillow and it fixed it.
Pretty darn good. But people in Asian countries are waiting for a 6-7 K Euro e-car. Even a battery pack of 20-25 kWh and a range per charge of 140-150 kms will be sufficient. Outside China, the cheapest e car available right now is India's Tata Tiago which starts at 13000 Euros

The Wu Ling Mini is about that price point. Not sure if it sells outside China yet but there's every reason to think these vehicles will go worldwide at various price points. I think you got it a bit wrong, you were showing the EQS SUV but were talking about the Mercedes EQS sedan
Love it!
Have since May 2022 a KIA EV6 AWD with full house expect the little glass sunroof and Meridian soundsystem and it’s definitely better than the EQE RWD with airsuspension in quite all aspects. It has also a frunk for cables, more room and useful trunk and you are seating better. Last but not least that the E-GMP platform consumes an average of 15,7 kWh and the Mercedes with only one motor and less power consumed the same route 21,5 kWh with same soft touch on the accelerator pedal. Even the A/C is not up to date and makes noise, in the Kia after just a few hundred meters I had my 21° with outside of 32°. The worst however was the big screen on my testcar which is dangerous is sunlight because of the wrong angle. Also nasty fingerprints look not so „premium“ and with all included what the Kia has, the price is more than double. Paying just a old name? After owning a lot of BMW, Mercedes and expensive Volvo in every aspect including parts and bad services I do not anymore need to define myself by a bad brand and after 54 years driving expensive cars, the best happening to me was a Kia. Drivetrain and dampers are mechanically adapting to road conditions and better than the airsuspension of a Mercedes. But finetuning was made by one of the best, Albert Biermann, who headed BMW M Sports for 30 years, so why not considering a car of that class costing half with 7 years full warranty? The IONIQ 6 now goes clearly into the class of a Porsche Taycan or the Audi GT e-tron on that also 800 Volts platform, especially with the augmented power of the N version coming also. Already my measured 333 hp with 608 nM of torque and between 5,0 to 5,2 seconds to 100 km/h is already outbeating most comparable cars and my EV6 drives like a car that is a number smaller than it actually is! 😎😜
It looks really nice, but I have a 100 pound (45 kg) bluetick coonhound and foster dogs between 80 and 120 pounds. A coupe or sedan simply doesn't provide enough space for them and their stuff. CUV all the way. Plus, those door handles wouldn't work in winter and be a PITA to use with an excited pup on a leash. It also needs more real buttons and dials and less piano black in the interior.

You'll want a garage for an EV which will fix the door handle issue and give you access to charge it overnight.
Not bad for a R. H. Brit Great job.
At about 2:10 "point zero one", or about 5%, but it's a coefficient too be used with frontal area. So if the frontal area of the Mercedes(?) is more than 5% bigger, the Ioniq 6 uses less energy to push the air aside.
in Singapore, it is used as Taxis
