Welcome to Pursuit Perfect System
In this video I am discussing how many KEF LS50 HiFi Speakers does one Audiophile need.
Well for a Dolby Atmos Surround setup 8 it turns out to be - in this video I introduce and discuss why I ended up choosing KEF LS50 for surround and atmos channels in my Review Home Cinema setup

Spent several weeks doing A/B tests for my 9.2.4 Dolby Atmos HT with the LS50 and R300. I really wanted a full home theater full of KEF LS50s, ended up selling them and now I’m using 6x KEF R300s (front wide, rears and surrounds). The R300 suit better in my room. I know the LS50 is technically a better speaker, but the R300s sound surprisingly great for HT purposes. Hard to explain

Christian Roman - Where did you get the idea that the R300i, is inferior to the LS50S? It should not be, since it cost more and is larger. In addition, Steve Gutenberg said it was notably better than the LS50s, in several important ways ( not all, however). I was considering both models myself, and just based on what I read, they clearly were the better speakers. Since, they were discontinued to make room for the new R3s, the deals offered made them the same price as the LS 50s (roughly). Again, I have not actually heard either of them. Maybe you have, and that is your sense of them? Personally, I am more enamored with the new R3s (the replacement for the R300s). They are more money. Nevertheless, the reviews I have read really like them. They are much closer to the Reference Series ($8,000 a pair ), reportedly. It seems a lot more of that technology is being used in the R3s., yet they are more like $2,000 a pair ( I think).

Loved your video. And have to agree. Kef seem to be the best when it comes to “comprised” rooms.... your seating does not have to be pin point accurate. Kef imaging or staging of sound is really good. The Kef CI grill can be painted. But from the home build threads iv read painting any grills can be a pain in the back side. I’m considering the kef ci 200 thxs for rear surrounds for my next project. And trying to figure how it it’s worth putting a “back box” behind the speaker or leave it open backing. Any idea how the sound characteristics can change?

Hi these are the videos I like I’m proper into home cinema the only down side it’s also part of my front room but still very enjoyable with many hours of pleasure even the wife likes it 😀 As with home cinema it’s just a project that never ends as you will proberly find this Out Just the other day I watched a video on KZread by acoustic fields called don’t set your Subwoofer on the floor and tbh it’s the first time I’ve seen such video anyway did the usual thing watched it a couple of times then decided to try it for myself basically it’s all about isolation and other stuff and just by raising my Subwoofer off the ground by 12 inch’s , it was a pleasant surprise and changed the way my sub performed Have you come across this or any one else out there might be worth trying this for yourself and giving your thoughts

A friend of mine made a pair of flexible wall mounts with arms instead of mounting a speaker on a door, the surround speakers can be shifted into a fixed position when he wants to listen and easily nudged out of the way when he needs to open the door without causing any problems.

Im concerned about what to drive these with ive tried a few class D amps in past on my mk sound setup I had but it was far too loud in my little room hence this idea of going for ls50 especially now you can pick pairs up for about 500 ish pounds.

yeah that makes more sense, but that would be difficult for me as well with how narrow my room is - its still best to do it at the beginning of a build stage I think, although where there is a will there is always a way :) Great comment thanks for making it

@@PursuitPerfectSystem My bad, you did say you paid for your KEF speakers. I tried the Q & R series, LS50s, paired them with a Marantz and Pioneer amplifiers at Superfi (RIP) I was disappointed, maybe those amps are not compatible with the KEF speakers or maybe the KEF’s need a subwoofer? In all honesty those KEF’s sounded like speakers you find in an old CRT TV.

Kef ls50 is the worst sounding supposedly high tech ported chuffer standmount speaker I know. I will stick with my own made infinite baffle monitor audio gold gr20 loudspeakers, that sound supercharged and open than any of kefs strangled and bad sounding ported passive speakers.

Ian john Horwood -I find it odd that very credible reviewers ( Steve Gutenberg, John Darko, Stereophile, What Hi Fi, and more), all think the LS50 is outstanding! You not only do not like them, but you harshly put them down. It causes me to think you are trying to boost your own ego, more than contribute something useful. Ok, you prefer your own speakers, and who knows I might even agree, if I heard them vs. the KEF LS50s. However, your degree of vitriol makes me very much doubt that is true!

Justin Parkman - I have never heard the LS 50s. However, I am a KEF FAN, as I have three different KEF SPEAKER SYSTEMS! I have derived a great deal of pleasure from them. As I said earlier, very credible reviewers Lille Steve Gutenberg, John Darko, What HiFi, Stereophile, and many many more, all give the LS50s, very good reviews. However, to the point made by others, they may need more power and/or better amplification, to be at their best. John Darko mentioned that, as did another good reviewer on KZread( whose name escapes me). So, that may be the issue. In addition, not only have I had good experience with KEF, many of their other speakers have won rave reviews of late ( LS50 Wireless, LSX, the new R3s are said to be outstanding, as are the floor mounted siblings, the Reference series is well reviewed, and on the very low end, the Q350 is garnering high praise).
