    Hi going back to what you said about side surround speakers I use a bowers Wilkins dipole / mono pole and in the mono pole position yes it’s more direct and noticeable so I do normally use them in dipole mode so kind of tricks the brain from where the sound is coming from but still getting a good side image ,also have them placed higher not ear level , so with the dipole / mono pole their is a choice of direct or dispersed sound , a two in one speaker :)

    Sweet - I was wondering about HT system with LS50 only for perfect cohesion. At the moment using R3, R2C and R8a for atmos and surround duties ( mounted sideways and it’s angle perfectly aims at MLP) all hooked up to AVR20+PA410

    It's times like this you really do appreciate it your home theatre! the last two weeks I spent in the the bedroom now I'm alone once again I'm going to treat myself and get back in the living room! subscribed to this channel as soon as I've seen this video probably because I agree with everything you said, Being fairly new to this home theater game, I would love your input on the following - if I was to purchase the arcam 390 and it's matching power amp to drive my 5.2.4 setup, am I likely to need other components (power conditioner etc) or do you think I'm able to get away with just having them two devices? reason being I've got size constraints with my TV cabinet to think off!

    I think you will be fine without a power conditioner with the 390 I have setup quite a few of them where the customer hasnt used one, the 390 is quite a meaty AV receiver but what I would say is the power condition might help make the 390 sound more refined and grown up but it would depend on which one of course and one of those things you would have to try for yourselfd

    How are the ls50 for 2 chanel Hi-Fi listening, do you think they are very musical speakers? Many people say these are really bright sounding, I had a quick listen to them yesterday on an Audiolab 6000A and thought they sounded pretty good but I think i would need more time with them to see if they become fatiguing over longer listening periods. Whats your general opinion?

    A truly impressive system..!! I just wish I had as much space as you have, I have surround sound in two rooms but unfortunately both rooms combined would equal less space than your one so for me everything is a compromise. I just don't get why people invest a fortune in a big screen TV and then settle for it's inbuilt speakers or maybe a soundbar.

    What is far more important than size/volume/output is quality. I have a custom built home theater that is acoustically treated, good amplification, great screen, great seating and is a favorite with the family. But I still use a plasma screen with a 5.1 set up in my own room and it is my reference system. And If I am going to watch a DVD that is where I go to watch it. Watching Lawrence of Arabia on blu ray cannot be beat on my plasma screen. Quality of the system is far more important than how big it is because at the end of the day my home system cannot beat a 70mm film theatre experience. I am sure the likes of Spielberg has a system that I could never beat or some custom Imax home theatre.

    They will be great for HT system. I’m sure they gonna sound awesome. I did audition them for hifi ... for the price yeah they are good but if you want real good detail and smooth mids with a good holographic sound stage etc, they won’t deliver it. But again, the price must be taken in as part of the consideration. Maybe they will perform very well with high end amps. This was something I was informed. Hmmmmm ...

    Darko commented on this in one of his podcasts. They stuck a LS50 on the end of a 100k system and it sounded way better than price matched systems. Shouldn't be surprising as they are based of the kef blade.

    Academicidiot ... but it begs the question as to why would we stick a 1k speaker to a 100k system? 😬 I bought a pair out of curiosity. It’s ok. Not like how people rave about it. For the price it’s good. Great for HT.

As a matter of fact, I see people saying that you should not use them for surround. Hi mate Please help me !! OK firstly loved this idea so much ive actually took the plunge and started snapping ls50s up So far I have 5 of them all black though to suite my man cave. They sound unbelievably good. I actually sold my mk sound mk2s system and replaced them with the kef ls50s. Did this for two reasons : 1. Re dispute my budget to get a decent 4k projector 2. cos I loved the kefs that much. I do have a question , Its been bugging me for a while this, My room is small its a converted garage so the ls50 work unbelievably well as front 3 and rears, When it comes to ATMOS speakers though I worried the ls50 over kill ? Don't get me wrong I totally dig why you done it and I want too but.... currently have kef 3001s up there doing atmos dutys however they lack the punch and lower frequency range you know when a helicopter flys over your head i wanna duck outta way 😂 Would kef q300 or q 100 or 350s do the job just as well considering costs and the fact atmos channel is designed mainly for background effects also my celing height is 2.1 mtrs Would I gain anything. Or should I just drive the eggs harder?

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @PursuitPerfectSystem

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Matt Very hard to say - I personally think the bass you perceive as going over your head is not really created by the atmos speakers, yes they give a bass cue but its how the subwoofer (s) are integrated that really gives the effect your looking for. That might seem a little crazy but I promise you its not. If you can keep all the same speakers all around its better for sure that is why I went to the trouble of sticking them on the ceiling. I think you can make it work whatever way you go and they are big speakers and do hang down quite a lot so when height is a problem maybe they are not best suited

However my only advice is if you think down the line you will want the refeence centre maybe see if you can get a deal on one with your dealer try and hard negotiate with them :) Only buy right buy once but depends on lots of factors hope that comes across in the right way

Currently running old Nautilus 805's as surrounds, crazy good speakers but not the best match (doesn't matter much in surround, it's close) - However, the HTM2D center is totally different than the nautilus sound and pans across the front don't work that well.
