    Excellent. Whilst I’ve been into home theatre for a good 20 years now, I’ve been somewhat absent the last 7 years or so so it’s great to find such great content at my finger tips. Prior to that everything was forum / magazine based. Look forward to your future content, but until then, I’ve plenty to catch up on 😎

    Raider Fan I like that as well. Depending on the speaker you can get sound to seem like it’s coming from the screen even when not behind it. I don’t like my center channel positioned too low though.

    Agree that normally you’d mount LCRs behind an AT screen. However, if you forked our $22K-$30K USD for these, wouldn’t you want to show them off? I would. I would not hide the 5160REF series behind anything

    @@PursuitPerfectSystem Hi there - no worries. I am in the planning phase for my home theatre to do a Dolby Atmos system with 8 chairs similar to that one. Was just curious about the size to determine potential number of height and surround in-walls. Had originally been focused on getting Paradigm speakers but really like what was shown in the KEF line.

    Can i achieve the same sonic imaging by a adding a super tweeter to a 2 way with a dome tweeter considering the kef's are uber expensive?

  • @C--A

    @C--A

    2 жыл бұрын

    No as adding a super tweeter to a two way. Gives a completely different sonic characteristic, signature than a coaxial like in the Kef speakers. Ps. 99.99% of speakers aren't designed for adding a super tweeter to it. It will negatively affect the performance and sound by doing so!

    Most reasonably knowledgeable people would if it was their home set-up. But it's a Kef facility, there in-wall's demo room. So obviously not going to put any box subwoofers (or box speakers) in their in-wall demo room. Plus they wouldn't use another brand for subs or speakers in a demo room lol.

    there are actually frequency response benefits to having speakers installed in walls because you dont get SBIR and cancellation. In wall speakers are designed with the larger baffle of the wall in mind

    Pursuit Perfect System Thank you for your reply, can you elaborate on SBIR please? I have read many audio engineer reports on negatives of wall gain. I am will to learn if new tech has been created to abolish wall gain issues, I am a glass half full so please expand my knowledge

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @@DuzBee wall gain I have not heard that term before - room gain is putting a speaker near a boundary and it boosts bass. That is factual. SBIR is speaker boundary interaction sound reflects off the wall behind the speaker comes back out of phase and cancels the sound coming direct from the speaker. This is one cause of a frequency response null. Putting speakers in walls as you see in a lot of studios stops SBIR so it helps to get a better frequency response without the cancellation of SBIR. In wall speakers have a much larger baffle area but in the case of the KEF they are designed with that effect in mind.

    Pursuit Perfect System Thank you very much, it’s fantastic that you interact with your audience and pass your knowledge on, this is a good channel and I appreciate your time and replies. I take it that there is a speaker box behind the In Wall Speaker it’s self? Or does the wall cavity become the speaker box? My problem is that my Cinema Room has double brick wall, so I can’t just cut out brick to recess the in wall speaker.

    Nice room. But, to achieve way better contrast in room the wall colors is way too light. The experience would be much better with dark walls (black). I got a 73 m2 cinema myself and especially in the front half total blackout is important. Also, if we are nitpicking...the metallic fronts of the speakers around the room will reflect light way too much.

    they use a light rejecting screen for improved contrast performance. I have a pitch black room and am am looking to install these speakers so will test how much real world light they reflect and will talk about that

    They could have a bigger screen if they used an AT screen and hide the front LCR behind it. Also all of those amplification could have been avoided with high efficiency speakers. This is a prime example of very wealthy owners getting ripped off by installers. With research, patience and realistic expectations anyone can create a theater at home that would sound as good as your local theater.

    the idea of the showroom is so potential customers can see and hear the products - you cant see them if they are hidden - if the screen was motorised then it could be raised - the idea is customers can see the products on show throughout the whole demo. In part One of the video series we discuss why KEF in wall speakers were chosen, in part 2 we look at the quality of the KEF speakers and why they are a great choice and great value for money. None of these decisions are made to rip customers off
