Home Theater of the Month: The Barber Theater
Ойын-сауық
When attorney Kris Barber and his wife decided to build their “forever” home in Lucas, Texas, they knew it had to have a dedicated home theater. They wisely decided not to entrust the general contractor with the job, asking the architect to simply include a 25×25-foot empty box in the plans. Then, Kris called on Dennis Erskine to design and build the theater, with very impressive results.
While I was in Dallas for the CEDIA Expo last October, I visited Kris at his home to see the theater for myself. Happily, Dennis was also in town for the show, so he joined us to talk about the process of designing and building this beautiful, high-performance audio/video sanctuary. Here’s my interview with both of them, along with images from the build and the finished room:

That Dennis dude needs to lighten up!!!
That secret entrance is awesome! Very well done.
These home theater of the month videos are incredible and very well produced. Really hope you keep uploading them.
We need more theaters of the month Scott. 👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing looking theater, Love the Tron: Legacy Poster!
brilliant job by the duo.
Man, can the grass stop being so fucking green on the other side already. Great theater!
Bet it sounds amazing
Very beautiful theater. I’m glad he mentioned getting rid of that ugly projector box because that was the only thing I hated about the room.
brillant job!
I like that he said with speakers behind the acoustically transparent screens, there's going to be some impact @7:45
Dennis Erkskine put together a fantastic theater here.

Dennis Erskine really doesn't want to be there, jeez. he's such a downer.

Yes we should all be comedians and clowns about our business.

@@strobe9 - there's a big difference between being a comedian/clown versus just being normal and having a conversation. Dennis was a DICK in this video. If he didn't want to be there he shouldn't have been on camera.

@@itsneight1260 I don't know what his "normal" is like to say that he was being a dick. Maybe you do. He's old. Leave him be.
Due respect, I thought this was to show off DIY systems from AVS members. He just hired someone to do it. He had a check book.

Really nice theater. I wonder if 5 years later has the projector been updated? If so, what projector did you get?
I remember when Dolby 5.1 and home cinema really became a mainsteam opportunity which really coinsided with Jarrasic Park was released which as far as I understand was really the first movie to take full advantage of Dolby sound. Dolby Atmos, home and commercial cinema sound for that matter has come SO far in quite a short amount of time. Sadly I am in the same situation as these guys for internet wise, sadly I cant stream greater than 720p.
That Dennis dude seems soo arrogant!

He's old plus he knows his shit. Let him be.
One day I would love to have Dennis build my Dedicated Home Theater.
thanks
what couch was that in the front??? does anybody know??
I love to see the side and rear speakers but not the front. I do love to see front floor standing speakers when the setup is mainly for music and less important viewing but in the case of dedicated home cinema I prefer the speaker free look at the front.
Help me to understand why so many subs are needed. Ive got 2 in a large room that cant be turned up more than half way without shaking the house down.
I'm currently trying to research movie screens, and projectors. I'm wanting to buy a 4K Projector for $2,500. If not then I'll go with a 1080p 300 inch projector or even 200 inch screen protector. The screens I'm currently looking at are the Stewart Cima 150 inch screen and a guy who builds theater screens called Immerse 4K Cinema Screens.

Steve Vestel - - Hey buddy i hope im not too late telling you this. The immerse 4k guy you mentioned, is that Keneth Byrd the guy here on KZread that makes videos out of his basement? If it is please be careful buying from him. Apparently his screens and paints are very low quality and he never responds or refunds unhappy customers and I've never been able to find any happy customers who have bought from him. Also he has been kicked out of avs forums in the past. Do your research with his name and be careful. If you want to build a screen and paint it lookup "Crow1176" on youtube. He has very good paint mixes at very low prices. Don't get scammed.
total cost?

What price range are you looking for?

harry jian Anywhere between $300 to $1,000. In time I'm going to buy a 4K Movie Projector for $2,500.

To have good picture quality on a 300 inch screen, you'll need at least 4000 lumen,it's hard to find a good one in the price range as I know. My English is pretty basic, please don't mind.
Man I would love to have that secret door. Can anyone tell me how I can do that?
He designs theatres and doesn’t like seeing speakers?!

your attention should be on the screen....not the speakers
11:57 .... Having lived in the country, it could take a month to download even 25 gigs, not to mention corrupted/failed downloads lol. So a Kaleidoscope system is far from ideal as it will dominate his network while it's on haha. His best bet is to do a media server and rip the discs. That's what I did when I lived in the country.
$$$???
Jealous--- all I can say.
YEP, I don't like seeing the speakers in the room either. they're ugly.
honestly its really not nessesary to have thaaat many speakers. it would sound just as good even having half the number
