JKG the most important step is blow drying with a paddle brush or a round brush if you know how to use that. And I’d suggest just YouTubing black women straightening their hair so you can learn about the chase method while flat ironing and wrapping it at night to preserve it.

I wish I could go two freakin days without washing my hair, let alone four or five. I am a greasy beast. Greasy hair, greasy face. If anyone has any suggestions besides dry shampoo and "Try not washing it for a few days, it will produce less oil", PLEASE let me know. Neither of those things work for me at all.

Miranda if you wash your hair everyday it drys it out which will have your head producing more oil so i would recommend like dry sampoo or new sampoo cuz maybe its your sampoo having you produce more oil.

I can't go a week without washing my hair. I have a full time job, and I don't want to take a week off to sit around with dirty hair. I've tried all different kinds of shampoos. I don't really use product, so it's not that I have tons of build up. Shampoo isn't going to stop my scalp from producing oil. Just like face wash won't stop your face from producing oil. Also, yes, my hormones are indeed jacked up. But I've been a greaseball all my life.

don’t use shampoos with sulfates! these are super harsh on your hair and it makes your hair overcompensate for it. You will have a period where your hair is slightly greasier while it adjusts, but it will pass. I stopped using sulfates and it’s done wonders for my greasy scalp!

It never occurred to me that some people with curly hair never really experienced a blow out for a few days. My mom is a hair dresser so she would always blow dry my hair and show me how to preserve and prolong it. This kinda brought me into a new perspective. 👍🏼

yari a good silk scarf or actual hair wrap and then just wrap your hair up all night to keep it more in place for the next day. It's something more common for brown and black women to do but in reality all types of girls and guys do it and it is helpful.
