In this video I'm going to be going over the system I use to evaluate someone's hair type. As a stylist this is pretty standard practice when working with a clients hair, but I think you guys may find some value in learning the techniques to find out what your hair type is at home.
We go over density, coarsness, texture, porosity and elasticity and basically explain how all these factors go into deciding how you should manage and maintain your healthy hair.
Stick around until the end for a brief Q&A session where I address some of the questions I've been asked on instagram/tiktok.
If you have questions that you want me to answer for you in the next video, drop them down in the comment section and hopefully I'll be able to get to them!
Thank a lot guys.

Holy crap, I learned so much about my hair from this video, where has this been my entire life. Everything just makes so much sense with my hair now what the heck, thank you so much
Coarse, low porosity and very good elasticity here! My hair has never been problematic other than the fact it gets oily and flat very quickly - which is annoying and it's hard to get any nice volume out of them. I also very rarely used any harsh treatments - I don't style them (they're very! resistant to styling), dyed them maybe twice, ages ago. Excited to learn how to do hair care better! Thank you for all the information

Can you make a video on how to make curly/wavy hair, straight and smooth?
Great vid man
Well personally, my hair is a bit wavy, like right after i wash my hair and when i don't put conditioner or anything, my hair is actually pretty straight except at the end, but after a day or so it becomr wavy again or when i put conditioner right after the shampoo
you should do a hair tutorial of Jaydan Armour!
Dude I have very thick hair. as natural metalhead, I always loved the longer hair-look but my hair is so hard to style especially in windy weather. when I slick it behind my ears, it always jumps right out of place. It's really annoying but what can I do.. I tried some products but nothing seems to work.. any natural remedees for it ? :(

My hair has 2 sections. Front are curly, high porosity, medium coarseness, medium-low thickness. The back of my head (back-side, above the neck and crown) are rather wavy, low porosity, medium-high thickness. It gets kinda hard to judge what products I need

Man I used to have a full thick head of long locks that were wavy and curly, but I got a haircut and cut a lot of it off and stated taking creatine and I noticed my hair was thinning, or at least I think it was, and it grew back differently cuz of that, I went from thick hair strand that would take ages to dry, maybe like 3 hours no joke lol and when it did it would dry smooth, soft and beautifully, now my hair dries within like 10-20 minutes and it feels rough to the touch, also feel like I lost alot of density too, I’m very depressed over this….

You want this side or that side? 🤣
After i shower and my hair dries it becomes very dry and puffy, but by the end of the day it's oily and very smooth
This was great but i wish we had examples of the extreams so wed know where we compared
i have really thin and smooth hair, and i don't have a lot per square inches, i hate it, like i can't find an hairstyle that fits me. thin hair is horrible, i can't make volume and when i use gel to style my hair, at first it stays still, but a little breeze is enough to destroy my hair
i always do the side part hairstyle similar to yours but i've got this really weird hair where the end part always curls, is there any wayy i can fix it??i don't use any blow dryer nor any styling products..i just come right out of the shower and pat dry my hair
Based on this video my hair is straight, thin and dry with fine corrosity. What should I do now?
My little hair curl almost un-curled during this test :( My hair is thick but The condition is bad. Why and can I get my healthy hair back?
So what style do I do or hair cut do i get when i have the bad signs of the hair you explained
Like your shirt and your hairstyle
High density, medium course wavy hair i have. It's hardy to grow out, it's looks so thicky
My hair is kind of weird... It's incredibly thick but when I part it the part is rather wide and obvious. Is this a sign of early balding?
I’m thankful for my parents’ jeans. They both wear Levi’s
Can anyone please tell me can you have like multiple hair porosity because I do somewhat it's like a mixture of all the three because when I like as some jail or at some volume to my hair like like liquid to add volume to my hair if a volume spray if you will. Stone the hair follicles the porosity of the hair strands does a fantastic job on absorbing the liquid for example a gel or anything that I put on my hair but some follicles takes like quite a while to make it wet and moisturized understand. So it's like a mixture I guess it's maybe low to Middle porosity and some hair strands is like super high and it does soak up like water and stuff like that. So I'm wondering if you can have like a mix of them three. Same with like the intro that this guy has said you will see your scalp if you will have like thick or thin hair. But I would say it's more depending on how tall your hair is and how long your hair is. Understand I am not bald I still have hair I have a lot of hair I have like longer on top and short on the sides. But in some parts of my hair it is thick and I can't see much but some parts is like you can see very very little in other parts you can see like a lot understand but mostly the time it's more thick than anything else. For example I sometimes when I style my hair I sometimes do like a slickback other times I do like Curly and the slick back in the front of my head the forehead you can see the scalp but on the back it's like thick curly in the other side you can see the scalp. So I would probably say I do have a lot of hair and it's thick and my hair it's like a between a thickness to medium so like a course I can feel the texture of hair it's like in between of the three. But it's more as course to thick than anything else. And me I used to wash my hair a lot and my hair had a tendency to be dry and I can go on but I don't want to bored anyone or so much information. To make it short I can't say this I used to wash my hair about maybe every Monday to Wednesday and Friday Saturday and Sunday and now I just do like Tuesday Thursday sometimes Saturday so I try to not do it as much as I used to. And now my hair is actually a lot more healthy and more soft and shiny of course I don't want to keep hair not cleaned because that is gross and it's going to be overly shiny and that's going to be gross it's going to be greasy and stuff and I don't want that to happen but I do have some grease in my hair and it is shiny and I like the texture and the style and the shine of my hair but it's less repetitive of cleaning my hair. Do not rip so much oils I use conditioner not shampoo I do shampoo my hair sometimes and I do use it but not a lot I usually do conditioner and just a little bit of shampoo but less than the conditioner than anything else. Before anyone tells me have I seen the video I haven't I've been listening yes I've seen this video and I have been listening but maybe somebody else might know answers that he doesn't know and maybe somebody in the comments might know some information that he might not know and the information might be more detailed so this is why I added this to the comment below. If anybody knows I would really really appreciate it if anybody could tell me.
Great video, Kuya! 😂 jk but for real though. Pumpin out good stuff here. I think a lot of guys new to the channel want a quick and easy way to get their hair to do what they want it to do but it takes time and effort to really learn about your hair type specifically and how to style it. Finding products and what not is only half of it imo. I enjoy playing around with my hair and seeing what it can and cant do. One question, what brush do you use to blow dry and style your hair? Thanks in advance 👏🏼🙌🏼

Hey Man, we have a similar hair, maybe because of your filipino genes. Lol And i've grown my hair before for a year for the first time because of COVID, but unfortunately I have to cut it short because it looks so dry and frizzy plus my scalp is itchy. At that time i don't have any idea how to style my hair and products to use but i do want to try to let it grow again since i've watched your videos. But my problem is, i work as a nurse and I need to wash them every after work due to sanitary reasons. How would you recommend me to do that?😊

How can i let my curly/wavy hair a little less curly and more wavy
I've been searching pinterest for hairstyles to try and find styles from guys with similar hair type. In the past I just decided I wanted a hairstyle only to be disappointed that it was not achievable for me.
my hair has like 0 elasticity lmao I did the curl thing and it went pretty much back to straight
What if when you pull your hair it doesn’t curl at all
I have exactly the same hair as you
How do I best define my hair type when I have no more hair?
How about oiliness of scalp?
are these typs bad like do they increase a hair loss in the future
idk what my hair type is when my hair is shampooed it is usually straight for 1-2 hours and then waves up
I have thick wavy hair that has a high porosity, not a coarse hair, elasticity is like medium to good
So when I was doing the elasticity test I couldn’t get my hair to curl into the ribbon and it kept going back to straight. Also I don’t know the coursity of my hair I couldn’t determine it but I think I have fine hair and I also have a dense amount and of hair

I had dandruff bad, nothing else worked as good, and for as long. I bought my bottle 8 years ago, still have it, don't need to use it because I have no dandruff anymore.
