How JJ Redick Transformed His Career From Bust To An All Time Great Shooter! Stunted Growth
Спорт
One thing I admire about the sharp shooting JJ Redick, is how he transformed his nearly bust like beginning to a solid 15 year career. At Duke, he shot 40% for his career from 3, with a career high 42% his senior year, all ACC twice along with 2 player of the years. He did everything but win a championship, leaving the program as one of the best players ever for Duke and their all time leading scorer. He was as you could always tell, a hard worker, and not many would out effort him on any level when it came to basketball, more specifically shooting and preparation. Redick approached basketball with a scientific strategy, mapping out entire days to make the most of the limited physical gifts he was given. But initially in Orlando as the 11th pick, he struggled and nearly became a bust. Here's how he transformed his career, and became one of the game's greatest shooters.

Beautiful shooting form, great meticulous work ethic, determination, even when he was a bust his first few years. Transformed into a solid career. Salute.

I like this version of Stunted Growth. “Transformed” I hope you make this a series
I liked Reddick as a ball player. But I like him more as a commentator. Especially the way he COOKS Stephen A. Smith in debates.
JJ Redick is an NCAA 🐐
I can still remember considering JJ a BUST his first few seasons, but mad respect to JJ for sticking in there on the hard work.

I honestly believe that Orlando was one of the few places he could get drafted and not be a bust considering they were pacing and spacing before it became trendy.

I like what you did with the stunted transformation. I hope you use this twist on some more vids. Im a Duke fan and have always been a huge Redick fan. I'm glad he had such a nice NBA career
Excellent video bro👍🏿🏀
Part of his early “bust” was the nba not valuing his skill set the way they would today. Until his final half season with the magic he averaged under 4 3’s per game

Also from what I’ve heard him say on “old man and the 3” he developed the most precise preparation in the league
Reddick owes his NBA career to the Magics style of basketball back in the late 2000s. Orlando was way ahead of the curve when it came to pace and space basketball and as the league followed suit his style of game became more of a commodity.
JJ did it against all odds, much respect to an outstanding career and best in his draft class.
No matter which team I played in Myleague on 2k between 14-19, always signed him as a free agent or traded for him
Coming from a Carolina fan JJ is definitely a legend on the college level

Honestly a very cool video-nice job SG!
6:25 I think you brought up the wrong draft class my guy
Long time Duke fan here (since 1990 - thanks Dad)! JJ was playing during my high school days which made me spend much of my gym class days behind the arc. Probably #6 or #7 on my all-time “Brotherhood” list

How was he ever considered a bust? JJ been solid since he got in the league much to my surprise. Considering he wasn't even a top 10 pick I don't think he was a bust at any point
@poloregal

His first 3 years he was considered a bust. Do you not understand that?
@kintemark1342
Жыл бұрын
@@poloregal A bust is someone that does not live up to expectation or take advantage of the opportunities given. JJ just wasn't getting the minutes but once he did he made the most out of them. Also what kind of expectations did people have for him coming in? Bc college players like JJ either end up like Jimmer or Adam Morrison, or they end up like Kyle Korver. Did you expect JJ to be perennial all-star or what cuz I didn't and don't know anyone who did think that
JJ was underrated for so long. iirc, he’s the only player to play for that many teams and never miss the playoffs? Teams were under valuing shooting / spacing for so long - he was belong avg as a 1v1 defender but he competed and knew all the rotations. Nowadays being weak 1v1 isn’t as big a deal as team often wants opponents to play iso ball.
Do DANTE EXUM never knew what happened I remember it was super hype over him after the fiba under 18 they gave him a story line in 2k my career before he even played a game 😂 it was crazy

Hello from Finland. I would love to see a episode about Ron Rutland. He was an NBA-level player, but maybe was too little and that's why never got picked? He played here in Finland and Europe. He is american and naturally played there too. And Anthony Cade was an american player who played here, and Eddie Washington. @Nokia, Finland. Lot of great talents played/plays at Nokia & Tampere. I thought he was gonna be a little better than he was. Took him time to find his place, probably the teams he was in, but a solid nba career. Only missed the playoffs once. Will be on ESPN for a long time, if he doesn't do nothing dumb.

He not only changed as a player, but as a man too, he was extremely cocky, than after being exposed at the next level he put his head down and worked his tail off to revive his career
He got better and more recognition once he left the magic.
Hit me wit the crossover wit Ben Gordon 😂
Would like a Chris Mullin vid mate🤙🤙✌️
My top 5 college players that I seen live on tv or at an arena are, Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Richard Hamilton, Ron artest, god shamgod
Tht Ben Gordon pic is foul lol And honestly I never considered JJ a bust ( I may have some sixers bias loved him when he was here lol ) kind of like how the league affected the big men when they changed due to Steph, JJ had to deal with the league being different at the time when he came and plus I remember a quote of him saying he didn't expect to have a major career or something along those lines after graduation
You didn’t have to do my boy Benny G like that 🤣
JT don't do that to Ben lol.
Seth Curry. Started out averaging 20 pts in his Freshmen year in college with Liberty and was on a Steph Curry trek, but then he transferred to Duke and went undrafted. He's had a solid career for someone undrafted, but he could have done a lot better. He could have stayed at Liberty or if exposure was the issue, why not go to Va Tech(Dell's school) to play in the ACC
Can u do dion waters , Hassan whiteside or renardo Sidney ?
JJ Reddick just looks like a cast member of American Pie
Damn bro I would’ve never know Ben Gordon was arrested if you didn’t put his mug shot in there 🤦🏽♂️😂
He's going to have a nice retirement check. 15 years ain't bad 👍🏽

Just a bigger John Paxson Steve Kerr. Got lucky n found his niche.
