How JJ Redick Transformed His Career From Bust To An All Time Great Shooter! Stunted Growth

Спорт

One thing I admire about the sharp shooting JJ Redick, is how he transformed his nearly bust like beginning to a solid 15 year career. At Duke, he shot 40% for his career from 3, with a career high 42% his senior year, all ACC twice along with 2 player of the years. He did everything but win a championship, leaving the program as one of the best players ever for Duke and their all time leading scorer. He was as you could always tell, a hard worker, and not many would out effort him on any level when it came to basketball, more specifically shooting and preparation. Redick approached basketball with a scientific strategy, mapping out entire days to make the most of the limited physical gifts he was given. But initially in Orlando as the 11th pick, he struggled and nearly became a bust. Here's how he transformed his career, and became one of the game's greatest shooters.

Reddick owes his NBA career to the Magics style of basketball back in the late 2000s. Orlando was way ahead of the curve when it came to pace and space basketball and as the league followed suit his style of game became more of a commodity.

@@poloregal A bust is someone that does not live up to expectation or take advantage of the opportunities given. JJ just wasn't getting the minutes but once he did he made the most out of them. Also what kind of expectations did people have for him coming in? Bc college players like JJ either end up like Jimmer or Adam Morrison, or they end up like Kyle Korver. Did you expect JJ to be perennial all-star or what cuz I didn't and don't know anyone who did think that

  • @vinni522

JJ was underrated for so long. iirc, he’s the only player to play for that many teams and never miss the playoffs? Teams were under valuing shooting / spacing for so long - he was belong avg as a 1v1 defender but he competed and knew all the rotations. Nowadays being weak 1v1 isn’t as big a deal as team often wants opponents to play iso ball.
