I remember, as a kid, my parents used to buy live crabs to cook and I used to desperately try to save at least one of the crabs. My mom would let me keep one at least and a little kid would have no idea how to care for the crab properly and die. Watching Leon really reminds me of my childhood trying to keep the crabs alive lol

Me, too! What tales we have to tell and experiences to remember now since then! Leon and the rest of the plant and animal life have been such a down to earth, nostalgic, at times bittersweet, yet mostly cute and sweet series to be a part of, and I feel so blessed and happy to be among those who've witnessed this incredible experiment! Who knew a grocery store lobster would steal the hearts of so many fans around the world? Haha!

More than ever, I still want to eat leon with a few sticks of melted butter. He keeps getting bigger and being well fed, likely has LOTS of meat inside, even in his legs. But the claws. Oh my. The claws. That's the most tender meat of all and it seems leons have grown quite big lately. I love it. Makes me want to grow out own lobster too which would be easy. All I need is a chiller since I have about 10 reef tanks in house already with all the equipment. I'd put Leon 2.0 in a 350g rubbermaid tote and just do waterchanges with regular light on top. In about 3yrs, I think it'd probably be 10 or more lbs. People would pay lots and lots of money for Leon right about now but I do like this idea of growing your own food just like having a garden.

@@dukeofthedance8062 Fair enough, haha! Lobster farming does sound like it would be a profitable business, not to mention really awesome having your own lobster meat on occasion. I've never had the pleasure of eating lobster, and it's one of my dream dishes to have for dinner someday, and the way you describe it is making my mouth water. Seafood is some of the best food, in my opinion (no offense, Leon... Still love you, Leon! Would never think of eating YOU, Leon, but maybe a brother or cousin or other relative or friend).

@@manaspajamas5071 Ya, I'd be heartbroken if Leon the Original OG was eaten. He was a "save me" lobster and should stay that way; at least Leon. I just don't know what he's going to do in 10yrs when it really is an amazing 25-35lbs, maybe breaking records since when getting that old in the wild, they tend to be seen a LOT more easy by predators so unfortunately that's often how the big or old ones go. Its rumored they might live hundreds of years or longer, like I said, usually they get eaten though from sheer size. A saltwater predators dream.. minus the claw attacks! Theoretically, as I understand (and could be totally wrong, I don't have sources), there might not even be a limit how big they can get if not eaten. Imagine a 100lb lobster that's 15-20yrs old with lots of waterchanges to keep calcium levels stable and nitrates down with ZERO predators in a 1000g rubbermaid horse trough tote in the basement with a chiller. That's breaking world records. I want to try this so bad now. Have done almost everything saltwater reef tank wise, my icon is a sea apple (I'm petting it on the right side) I kept alive for 8yrs, a pretty decent accomplishment for a difficult species to some, but there's always new horizons and new ideas. Sorry so long. I've been doing reef tanks since 13 and it's never gotten old once in over 32yrs.

Brady, I need to share something with you. I am neurodivergent, though I've never "officially" been diagnosed (although many doctors have insinuated as such), and marine life has always been a double-edged sword for me. On the one hand, it's always fascinated me, but I could never get into learning or researching more about it because it's FAR too overstimulating for me. Your videos are at the perfect pace for me to process all the information without feeling so overwhelmed, and I've been able to learn more about koi, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, and other sea creatures than I ever have in my entire life. I hope you continue to film your diverse and beautiful plant and animal life, especially the marine life, for a long time so I can learn more about them at my own speed in my own way. Your filming style is what I needed in middle school and high school, and I'm so glad you decided to upload this kind of content to KZread. Keep doing what you do so well, Brady, and thank you for what you do!

So after a couple more times of finding him in her house, she got him fixed and he happily lived out his days indoors with my grandma. He was a lovely, happy, grey tabby. Brady you have taken a moment in many people's lives and brought us together with Leon and your knowledge. A moment in a store and we thought what if? I'd like to let you know your view for us to follow and watch, is one to admire and love. The KZread algorithm that led thousands to your page 2 years ago was one of the best moments. People from all over the world take a few moments to bond and I feel relaxed on Leon's journey. We most likely have a feeling of excitement when the notification pops up. I know I do! As an emergency dispatcher, sometimes you and Leon are the perfect solution to a tough day. Notification, a sudden Oooh! Then a click, with a solid 20-minute mental getaway... Mental serenity. Ahh!!!😌 As far as the neighbor's cat, hehe, well maybe you could rig a water line that can be squirted. Not harmful and maybe set for motion, or for your cats to trigger. Almost like an old cartoon, where the indoor cats squirt the outdoor animals. Either way, it could be great B-roll footage with some funny outcomes. Please keep showing us some more footage of the other sea creatures in Leon's tank. They too are so fascinating, resilient, and fun to watch. Dearly thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos. Always looking forward to the next one. Give Leon a treat for me and a gentle claw bump for me. 👊😎💙

Regarding the neighbors cat, and I have done this... trap, neuter, ear tag and return. The ear tag (cut off an ear tip) is to let any future vet know that his cat has been 'processed'. Once neutered he may may have less desire to hang out in your backyard. Everything I have described is perfectly legal in Georgia. My reason for doing this was to prevent even more kittens in the neighborhood. As a side benefit, I suspect the owner of "Big Papa" (my name for him) is keeping him closer to home now as he has only been spotted once in the last year. Kudo's to you for giving Leon a new lease on life. I watch all of his videos.

Thank you as always Brady for the care you show not just to Leon but all the other creatures you encounter. It sounds corny but as a physically disabled person (arthritis) that used to be very active & loves nature, your videos are a true highlight for me. The update on Leon after his molt was exactly what I was looking for today. It's interesting to see the little ecosystem you've come to have in your home. All the adventures pond, waterfalls, lakes to see sunfish & crayfish, the antique stores etc TRULY are a lovely snippet for us all to see. Your camera work really is amazing to show all the details of Leon!! Thank you again Brady for all you share with us the "Lobsterites"😂🦞💗🇨🇦

Your cinematography is spectacular and rivals many award-winning documentaries. There are so many things which draw us in and bring added facets to overall intimate experience. Leon is a stunning gent. I cherish my big black full color mug and am using it as a stand for a mini USB fan. B, you are a gifted hero who didn't just save a life but bring a whole microcosm to us, the content-hungry audience. Schools would so benefit from every episode and you're going from strength to strength. As it's too warm to wear my hoodies, but (am secretly) conflicted about the possibility that you might introduce a line of premium merch - beach towels and plushy blankets. (Can you hear my unsubtle hint? 😂🎉). For now, I am going to settle for a DIY wool tapestry embroidery projects - printing my favorite screen shots including splitting an image into quarters on separate canvases for an abstract effect on raw burlap and will use my favorite embroidery premium wool this winter to meditate as I complete them. As to the tom-catto ... since you posed the question... I know what I would do (I expect a backlash, but do be it as a honest response to a question) - capture, spay and release after full healing. It may also be done by (possibly) a local feral cat rescue for a nominal donation. It's for the catto's own safety/safer/longer life and benefit of all around it. 🤷‍♀️🕊

It's interesting, I kind of miss the days of waiting until the next week or the next literal season to view the next episode of a TV series. But then again, we didn't have the option to watch it on our own time, we had to set time aside to watch it live. You couldn't pause it or skip any of the advertisements (and there were a LOT of them), and don't get me started on messing with the television antennae in order to get a descent picture (and there were still glitches and static every now and then, even after all the messing about. We'd be at it for a good 10 minutes at a time just to get the station to work). Plus, there was attempting to figure out the remote control, if you had a fancy screen. There were times when the audio would turn itself on (you know, the audio dialogue for the blind) and the subtitles would randomly appear, and sometimes they were in Spanish. I learned a lot of Spanish words from those subtitles, haha! All that to say I agree with you, waiting for a Leon video is the only bad thing about it, albeit reminiscent of slower days before the internet.

As for the unneutered cat... if you don't know who it belongs to, you can always do a TNR (trap, neuter, release) and that way at least he's not out there tormenting your cats. Would probably help with some of the smackfests between your lot, too.

Leon has flourished in your care. You brought him back from the brink of death and he has exceeded all expectations. The lobster & crab fishery industry needs to change. Clearly, the public and governing agencies aren't aware how highly intelligent these creatures are and how poorly they are handled, abused, then slaughtered so inhumanely.

  • @mplsmark222

I came for the Lobster, but commenting on the kitty. If that white cat becomes a problem, there are rescue groups that will catch, neuter the cat and release it back to where they caught it. They usually clip the tip of one of their ears to make it easy to tell if they have been “fixed”. Though neutering does not always eliminate spraying.
