How I Learned Surfskate Bowl Riding in 30 Days

Спорт

On April 22, 2021, I first attempted to surfskate a bowl. On July 31, I finished my 30-day surfskate bowl riding practice by surfskating at the skate park in Venice Beach, California, the birthplace of both vertical skating and surfskating.
In this surfskate bowl riding tutorial, I document my journey and give you my top 10 tips I learned along the way that will help you learn how to surfskate bowls.

Very encouraging Steve, I'm 57 and just started longboard two months ago, now because of you I purchased a YOW and I'm doing my first practices since last week, very far from reaching your current level but aiming to that in the future!!!!

I’m 59 with only a surfing background but even after 1 week surf skating I’m thinking about bowls. I’ll need body pads. Water is so much more forgiving but far harder to learn on.

Glad to see people in my age group. Started in Jan 2021 at 60. Focused on Carving & Pumping then went on to slides to slow & stop as not feasible on tipsy surf skates as I have waterborne rails on all setups. Next is transition in bowls when there is a chance as there is only bowls in 1 skatepark where I am & competing with roller bladers & skate scooters.

OG here as well- I’m 51 and started a year ago because my 14year old son wanted to skate at park. I figured I may as well join him. Glad I did. I will be getting pads and helmet now. Broke a big toe and herniated back disc but I will be back. Thanks for the encouragement to skate

Man, im 29 y.o. Back in 2020 i was injured (break my leg) with my 34" yow with s5 system. so now in 2021 im still struggling with bowls and scare of any small transitions. Your way makes me more confident to start. If you can i will too. Thanks, appreciate what you're doing. Much love from Russia, Igor
