Ceramics do 30% to 70% of advertised time if you're lucky. 6 years...absolutely not. 2 years maybe. There are a lot of factors to the coating. Heat is a big killer. So a Ceramic lasts longer in Canada than California. Also you can't put 2 coats on that fast and call it 2 coats. The solvent in the Ceramic softens the first coat if it's not completely cured. Cure time varies but it is usually between 4 hours and 24 hours. So you just did one coat when if you applied twice. Hope that makes sense. I'm not throwing shade. There is so much misinformation on KZread for detailing its crazy. Ppl need to get the correct information from the supplier and manufacturer but it comes from a detailer they like and they think it's true. Which is unfortunately not the case. If you Ceramic coat. You must clay bar (with a bar.. not a pad) and full paint correction. Those are not optional if you want the coating to bond and last as long as possible and do the job correctly. Just because you can't feel it doesn't mean contaminates are not still there. Those cars come on ships, railroad and Semi's. I worked at a car dealer for 5 years. All I did was body shop details and new car details. New cars can be as bad as a 3 year owned car. Being new means nothing when it comes to paint.

For the most part correct, except you can generally apply a second coat about an hour after the first, or if you miss that window to wait a minimum of 24 hours. Depends on the coating ofcourse. Some recommend only one layer as it can ruin the curing.

Quick tip Wayne, after drying the car and before applying the ceramic coating or polish you should take the car into the garage and do a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol to ensure that there are no previous protectants left on the paint and it is a lot gentler than using a clay bar.

Slow down on applying the ceramic coat. I get the speed, but ceramic is something you want to take your time. This is why it cost 1400$ to do it. Then if you’re wanting to double layer, you gotta wait for it to cure first layer. And always clay bar before any ceramic coating. Period.

@@gt53r69 well no, you’re missing the point. Ceramics cost 600-1500$ because of the time. You’re not paying for the product, the product costs 200$ per car at most. You’re profiting 1200$. He’s wanting to do it in the same time it takes a normal package car that cost 150$ lmao. If you’re the customer, I would definitely question this shit if it only took 5 hours to ceramic. And me personally, I do it in my shop. So I’ll get 2 cars I gotta do ceramic. Both cure at the same time. And on top of that, I’ll put a ceramic topper as a finishing touch. My point is, that product don’t cost 800$ like y’all may be assuming. The pricing is due to labor and time ONLY. If he does it in 5 hours, he shouldn’t charge 1400$, he should charge maybe 600$. Bc you know that shit was just slapped on. Plus look how he done the rims when costing. Smh.

I’m not trying to insult anyone but it just goes to show that in the detail industry it doesn’t matter how good you are. You can be the worst detailer abut as long as your marketing is on point your business will generate plenty of business = money. This guy has done great marketing and in a year turned his business into a profitable business and even opened up a shop and retail space, all off of good marketing. It is proven here in this video that he lacks information and knowledge of the actual steps of a ceramic coating, and again I do not mean to offend anyone just pointing out that marketing is everything in this business.

Learning always go with ups and downs. You can be the best detailer, without a good marketing you'll get nowhere. So some need to learn on the marketing , some on the detailing/productuse etc..each their own I'd say. We'll fall, stand up and correct our mistakes. If this coating won't hold up to the customers expectations, Hunter will for sure stand for who he is and come his way tocorrect his mistakes. That's how we all learn 😉

That car needed a second stripping. The water sheeting is too fast which indicates a chemical protection is still on the surface. I know you did it on a vertical panel, however the water shouldn't sheet off instantly and it should give more of a pooling or molasses type of dissipation. That's how you know there is no more protection. Also hit it with an IPA wipe after the chemical decon and after the polishing to ensure no chemicals/surfactants are left behind from either step.

Hey Wayne , there is not need to degrease or strip the wax off the paint if you are going to polish it after, like the a one stage polish will remove any wax or sealant that its on the paint , so degreasing its a bit of a waste unless you were putting a new sealant and no polish was involved . If you think about a polish or compound will remove a ceramic coating which is harder than any wax or sealant. Also there is a product made by car pro called descale which is a stripping soap , good product to use if you are planning to use a sealant or wax after a detaling job

A ceramic coating does not last 5 years. Any ceramic coating last between three months to a year. Honest detailers will be honest and say “it only depends how much you use your vehicle and how often(time) driven to point a and to point b…”

Coming from someone who’s been detailing for a long time how how how , the whole process is all wrong even from cleaning the car . Cleaning the rims & paint at the same time. Clean rims before getting the paint wet then go to the paint , soap is drying and leaving water spots smh , and stacking coating doesn’t mean more years .

Nice detailing, but you need to take a class or do more research on coatings, because your steps and information you were giving was not correct boss. No alcohol washing, no iron removal, didn’t even clay bar it. you still do those steps even if the car is new, it’s all about prepping the paint correctly. If you clay bar it correctly, it shouldn’t leave any damages, and if it does, it that thang with a 1 step to enhance the paint for clarity. Quality is key boss. Also that’s a 2 year coating boss. It’s marketed as a 3 year but it’s actually 2 years. Adding two layers of that won’t make it a 6 year coating. You will have to look up Professional Grade Coatings that are usually a 2-3 step coating with multiple solutions. Also take your time, rushing through a ceramic coating is never recommended. Look at the paint from multiple angles.
