    I use to be Catholic so I understand what it’s like to belong to a group of two faced assholes that treat you like shit because you don’t kiss their ass and they have this “holier than thou” attitude only to be the biggest pieces of shit that do the most immoral acts known to mankind like molesting children and having the whole religion itself defend such a horrible act. Yeah, my uncle was molested by a priest, he has been a raging alcoholic his whole life even though no one else in my family has ever been an alcoholic. He’s pretty much at the end of his life, the alcohol has taken its toll, he got married about 10 years ago and divorced and had two little boys, they will lose their father at a very young age. The most important thing isn’t love and bunny farts, it’s watching out for wolves that prey on weak people that think love is all that’s important.

    Do you have your mission call already? I believe mine gave me a recommendation for how many pairs of garments to get and I imagine it would depend on the area you're in. In San Diego I think I had maybe 10 pairs which was nice since I had enough for a full week and a little extra since we could do laundry every week. For materials that would depend on the area and your preference, I know a lot of women in particular have very specific preferences of which they prefer so I'd recommend getting a could different types/styles at first to decide what you like. Depending on the climate you're going to you could also pick lighter or heavier materials.

    I'm currently struggling greatly wearing them. I'm getting married soon and that was one of the only reasons I got endowed. I've struggled with body dimorphic disorder and OCD my whole life and having and extra layer of clothes makes me want to tear my skin off more. I've never had a problem dressing modestly, I didn't have to change any of my wardrobe prior to going to the temple. I've had days where I really want to wear them and appreciate them, but constantly being able to feel them and having them bunch constantly does not bring me closer to God. I live in a very hot and humid climate and I've had to change my garments multiple times a day bc I sweat and my skin can't take feeling that. I would like to put them aside for attending church, church activities, and the temple bc they have become so much of a hassle and issue in my life. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I mean it's your choice but you don't have to choose between God's love and dressing the way you want. You can enjoy fashion and be who you are and dress in a way that expresses yourself and still have a connection to God (if there is one or if you believe in one). I doubt God is gonna be like "you didn't wear your white t shirt and biking shorts today...you broke your promise". Clothing and "garments" are a very worldly thing. I understand the symbolism, but your body is only a shell. Your spirit is what matters. I think that if there is a God, he'd love you and look at your character, not your external appearance and choices. I am respectful of your faith and opinions, but i dont want people to get confused and think that if theyre not wearing these garments that they're doing something wrong.

  • @siennagalvez8671

    5 жыл бұрын

    1 Corinthians 6:19 - "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" Our belief is that the body is not simply an outer shell, it is actually an important part of our being that God gives us to help us progress. If our body is a temple then we should treat it as such, and keep it sacred and not defile it or use it in ways that satisfy only worldly carnal pleasures. That is why we have such an emphasis on modest clothing, the Word of Wisdom (healthy living and not putting harmful substances in your body), and sexual morality. These standards are all part of the commandments we live and the covenants we make in the temple, so the garment is there to help us be reminded of trying to live in that way and keep those covenants. They are meant to be a special protection both physically and spiritually. But I understand your point, we don't expect or want people who have not made those covenants to think they are unworthy in any way because they don't have the garments. It's just that part of the higher commitments a person makes to God in the temple include a promise to wear the garment, so that's why it's important that we try to do that as much as we can once we have made that commitment. But you're totally right, anyone is worthy of and can feel God's love for them even without wearing the garments. We don't mean to say in any way that God is going to punish those who haven't made those covenants.

    I feel that as long as you are not showing to the world things that are private then you fine,yes our body is temple and we should keep it healthy and stuff but I'm sure God loves me as I am and a piece of clothing will not make any less loved by him or more,besidesthe fact that I dont need to wear something to remind me the promise I have made to my savior.

    Mimi, I just found this video you put out a while ago, and I want to thank you for handling this topic in such a straightforward, down to earth way. I am not a Mormon myself, though I have become very interested in the Mormon Church and other beliefs and religions that I never learned about as a child. The things you said in the beginning of the video: asking people to be respectful in their comments was quite moving...and kept me watching! No one has the right to disrespect any other persons belief system, and I believe in that as strongly as I believe anything. On another note, you are obviously an intelligent modern woman, and your church and family should be so proud of the individual you have become. Teaching others about your religion, in that friendly, straightforward way you have, will surely touch people; one more step to uniting is understanding. And once you believe in the gospel and want to take the next step, you’d be baptized! Then a year later, you would have the opportunity to go through the temple and receive your garments. 😊 if you have any other questions feel free to send me a dm on Instagram and I’d be happy to help!!

    You will likely be visited by missionaries at your door who will deliver one to you......but they won't stop there. Once they hand it to you, they will pressure you into taking lessons and having more meetings. They will pressure you into reading it and then asking you if "you have a feeling it's true". They will not stop hounding you until it comes to a point their high-pressure tactic won't work. And all missionaries will take down your name, address, and information and keep the record in what's called an "area book". They do everything instructed to them in the books *Preach My Gospel* and *Missionary Handbook* and they have baptism quotas that they must reach.

They might still ask if there's anything they can do for you, but if there isn't, they'll leave. Of course, that's only if missionaries do come to your door. Again, it could go either way.

    It is most likely that some missionaries will come to deliver it to you! Everyone has different experiences, but my experiences with the missionaries has always been positive! They will obviously invite you to read the Book of Mormon, but you shouldn’t be pressured into anything at all! If you have questions about the Book of Mormon you can request lessons from the missionaries too! :) P.S. your English was perfect! No need to apologize!

    Dear Mimi. Its great that you made this video and express your faith. I was endowed 1996 and always wore garments (of course there were some exceptions). But As I continued to study over the years, I discovered an important thing. The Prophet Joseph Smith made it clear that garments must always follow the shape commanded by an angel. So one-piece, long at the ankles and wrists. Collar and tides. Joseph F. Smith also warned that no one should change shape. Unfortunately, Heber Grant violated God's command and changed his shape completely. . Surely God values intention, and that is why today's garments are a blessing. However, they are not the original ones the angel commanded Joseph Smith. I wear garments of the original shape and I feel lucky. Sadly, I was attacked by a temple worker for this, and I am already inactive. However,i feel closer to God.

I have always been active in the church. I served as a young service missionary. I've gone on temple trips with my YSA ward to do baptisms for the dead just like in young men's. I remember one temple trip where we went to the Logan Temple. I was part of a group that just walked the grounds. Our leader taught us about the different parts of the building. Other members of our ward, who were endowed actually went in to do the sacred work for those who passed on. We learned more about the temple. Our leader was a returned missionary. This video helps me to be better prepared for the sacred covenants I will make with the Lord

    The concepts are truly simple to grasp. If a friend, in this world, makes a full effort at any commitment, I believe that commitment should be respected as part of them. No one, who cares about people in general, should judge. If a new person to their world is curious, ask questions. If that committed person is honoring what they are doing, they will share what they can. If you’ve asked, and you don’t agree, the appropriate response is to find something else in common to base a friendship upon or walk away. It really isn’t difficult. No one is perfect, but a concerted effort to make things right is noble. Those with any substance of love in their heart should understand.

    I have a question! Do you have an issue with the Satanic freemasonry symbols that are on the garments? The compass and the square, etc? They certainly are not symbols that keep you closer to God as they come from freemasonry which has background in the occult and Satanic rituals and symbols. (i.e. The upside down star with circles around it that you see all over on Mormon buildings that is the EXACT same star found on the cover of the Satanic Bible.) I truly believe that those symbols keep Mormons under Satanic influence and under a delusion as you are all supposed to wear them on your person at all times, as much as possible. And to take this thought one step further: Mormons reject the symbol of the cross, which is the symbol of Christianity and yet they accept Satanic symbols and wear them daily. This disturbs me so much.

  • @ericbascom3517

    @ericbascom3517

    I think it's important to remember that symbols can have many different meanings in different settings. For example the serpent can be a symbol of Satan or a symbol of Christ and healing (like when Moses holds up the brass serpent that the people need to look to in order to be healed). Even if it is a similar or same symbol it does not have to have the same meaning nor does it mean that the symbol must have come from the other. If you're talking about the pentagram (the 5 pointed star) I've always heard that it too was used as a symbol for Christ before it became a symbol associated with the devil, but I can't provide a source off the top of my head. I'm sorry you feel like we have rejected the cross as a church when it means so much to you. We feel that rather than focus solely on the death of Christ we would rather focus on His whole life which He continues to live since He was resurrected. We do not think it is wrong to have a cross, it just is not a focus in our worship. If you want to understand the reason we do many things differently than other churches then I would invite you try to learn about them with an open mind rather than judging them from a closed view, even if you are not interested whatsoever in adopting our practices.

    @@ericbascom3517 thanks for your kind response! Very appreciated. I knew very little about Mormonism until September when elders came to our house and we began meeting multiple times per week until just weeks ago. My family developed a genuine love for those young men and also have many Mormon neighbors who are not only our friends but also people we care about deeply. We dove in and learned your belief system in depth! I'm not talking about just reading the Book of Mormon but also the D&C, Pearl of Great Price, Journal of Disclosures, History of the Church and Joseph Smith's History... my husband and I have literally searched every topic you can think of on LDS.org. Believe me when I say that we searched all angles of the LDS beliefs and even attended church and classes more than once with the Elders. My Mormon friend and neighbor talks with me constantly about your beliefs. And I know this will upset any Mormon reading this but I also have seen the entire Temple ceremonies right here on KZread. Through this thorough investigation of the religion, my husband and I have broken hearts. I truly have anxiety every day for the souls of the Mormon people. My conclusion is that we serve completely different Gods and the Bible is so clear that Jesus Christ of the Bible is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through Jesus. Moroni 8:18 and the Mormon Doctrine of God are in total contradiction. (..The King Follett Discourse..) Then you read the CES Letter and there's just no hope for any single aspect of Mormonism being true. The Book of Abraham is false.. the prophesies of Joseph Smith are false and unfulfilled.. the Kinderhook Plates (which LDS.org lies about saying they were never translated when they were and are in the church documents), the fact that Joseph Smith not only had 30-40 wives and was a Polygamist BUT, the fact that many of them were married which is Polandry (Adultry!) and he was a pedophile with middle school age wives. Then Brigham Young teaching that Adam was Heavenly Father! How can this be denied when your true prophet taught it until his death!?!? Blood atonement and racism. (Brigham Young's quotes on "putting a javelin through his wife and brother if they slept together and being fully justified cause Christ's blood isn't enough" or "if a black man gets a white woman pregnant, they both need to be killed because the atonement wasn't enough to cover this sin.") *sigh* I can't handle all of this. My prayer list is enormous! Every Mormon I talk to is on that list. And I just need to surrender it over to God and pray that eyes will be opened and that truth will be revealed and accepted by everyone practicing Mormonism. You both are now on my list. May the God of the Bible become Lord of your life and the truth of the Bible change you. I say this all with love!

    @@danielmoore4024 The Book of Abraham contains nothing that the Papyri contains. We can translate Egyptian now, but they couldn't in the 1800s. The Book of Abraham is simply Joseph Smith's imagination. I dont even know what you are talking about..?? Mormon leaders and officials agree that it is just plain false. Have you looked into it? The FLDS ditched it as "Scripture" after this was discovered. It's amazing to me that the LDS church still keeps it in their canonized scripture. It was looked at by Egyptologists and Historians who dated it back to only the 1st century AD. The Papyri contains "The Book of the Dead" which is Egyptian burial rituals. It is simply not the Book of Abraham, nor was it "written by his own hand", nor is it a valid translation, nor does it contain anything found in the Mormon Pearl of Great Price. It's a hoax. As far as the history of the church in general, don't be so naive! I find every one of my facts in Mormon literature and scripture and documents. It's not anti-Mormon at all. If Mormons actually read their history and knew it, they wouldn't stay in such a corrupt belief system. Have you jumped on LDS.org and searched "Gospel Topic Essays"? What about "Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo"? Have you read those footnotes and read all the sources listed? The church was forced to publish awful truths about it's history because we live in an information age with the internet at our fingertips! Nothing is secret anymore! Did you know Joseph Smith was smuggled a gun in Carthage jail and shot 2 men? Did you know he died without his temple garments? Did you know he drank alcohol all throughout his life? This is all throughout the church's own history! All documented and verified. He was a living lie. And Brigham Young taught that Adam was Heavenly Father for decades until his death! No one believes that today so obviously Brigham Young was a false prophet. The issues and lies and inconsistencies never end. What about Moroni 8:18 teaching that "God is an unchangeable being from all eternity to all eternity"?? The King Follett Discourse, which defines the Mormon god today is a total contradiction saying that "god was once a man just like us.. an exalted being.. we must learn to become gods ourselves just like all the gods before us.." Don't even pretend that the issues with Mormonism aren't real. They're real.

    God will NEVER lead you down the wrong path. The Bible (Mormons claim to believe) says that you should never believe in another gospel even if it was from an angel. The book of Mormon is another gospel. And don't even get me started on the things the Bible says about Catholicism and how its all pagan. Might have time to share proof and verses if you want.

    Please don't put that label on us without doing your research or talking to women who are happily involved in the Church. I actually feel quite empowered in this world as a woman and even more so with the gospel in my life because I I know the blessings I can claim and the influence I can have as a woman if I follow what I know to be true and right. Seriously, talk to some women in the Church. Why would we "hate being female"? That's actually a really male-skewed thing to say. I know I'm a daughter of God and have the potential to be a Queen someday. That knowledge in and of itself is very empowering.

    @@Mimi.BascomI read those references you gave me and I don't see anything about protective undergarments, those verses are talking about garments for ordination not "undergarments" . Do you believe the undergarments protect you from evil and temptation? (I heard that somewhere and i wanna respectfully confirm that).

    That’s a great question! Yes, those references just introduce the principles of wearing some kind of physical clothing as instructed by the Lord. Honestly, I’ve been working on typing out an answer for you for the last little bit, but it’s much easier for me to explain things verbally - not written out! I wouldn’t consider myself to be a great writer haha Is it okay if I answer this question in an upcoming video? I plan on making another one soon answering people’s questions about garments. Is that cool with you? Otherwise I can do my best to answer it here but it might not make as much sense 😂

    Mormons seem to be joyous about what doctrinally works for them which is good to each their own. If what Mormons have to share is complete truth and good fruits why set terms as a means to shelter and shield yourselves from scrutiny or logical investigation. Don’t you want to share your gospel goodness regardless and at any cost? Christ’s true church and his disciples and apostles did so with their very own lives. Oh if all they could worry about was being called names or anything that goes on with social media I think they would’ve taken that path instead because their true conversion. They didn’t say to others you can’t be disrespectful. They served with purpose. So wouldn’t something like this video be more tailored for a fast and testimony sacrament meeting instead? Thank you.

    Thanks for your comment! However, I did not “set terms as a means to shelter and shield myself from scrutiny of logical investigation.” I am not blocking any comments on this video and am letting people speak their minds and respond to what I have to say. I don’t worry about being called names because I knew that would happen no matter what as a result of uploading this video. Rather- I just asked for people to respect what I believe in because I’m not here to bash any other beliefs or religions. I hope you have a great day!

    Mimi Bascom Ok great to hear. I think indeed you are putting yourself out there and when we do that people will be “curious” of course and others will simply come across as haters. If I were to inform you that the stitched symbols on the garments were purely adopted Freemasonry symbols and temple works too are very much Freemasonry adaptations or that temple rites and rituals are non-Biblical or even NON-BOM teachings would that be considered hating? Hating or Loving? Thank you.

    @@MeToo-py1tq I respect your opinion and appreciate when people share their differing opinions with the intent of having a productive conversation rather than to attack or argue. I am aware of these claims and have a different opinion. Although Joseph Smith did have some experience with Free Masonry so it may have influenced him, these symbols and rituals did not directly come from that. I believe they came as revelation from God. Thanks for your comment!

    Mimi Bascom Thank you for responding kindly. I understand what you mean. Because of the eerily almost exact same identical symbols of Freemasonry and LDS then we can go ahead and also establish that the Freemasons too were inspired and received revelations from GOD. Ok makes sense. Thanks.

    @Kansas Peach No, tithing is not just an LDS thing. What IS a "Mormon thing" about tithing is that the NON-PAYER can't get to live with God if he doesn't pay.

  • @daveyjones9930

    @daveyjones9930

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Kansas Peach Okay? In order to get a temple recommend you must answer your bishop's temple recommend question, "Do you pay a full tithing?"--among several other questions. If "yes", you're allowed to go to the temple for your "Endowments". If the answer is "no", you'll be denied the TR (Temple Recommend). If you can't get a TR, you can't go to the temple--for ANY reason. If you can't go to the temple, you can't get your Endowments. If you can't get your Endowments you can't live with God in the CK (Celestial Kinkdum), OR reach "Exaltation". Endowments are absolutely critical to being qualified to live with God If you doubt this, I *recommend* (pun intended) you ask your bishop....or ANY LDS "old-timer". Deny it or not, the fact is you have to PAY MONEY to live with God, according to Mormon doctrine. (It's worth it to be very clear about this.) To assist your understanding, here's an LDS website that discusses the Endowment. Notice the word "essential". The Endowment is *essential* to your eternal progress. www.churchofjesuschrist.org/temples/what-is-temple-endowment?lang=eng (I'll accept the word of ANY top LDS leader (prophets/apostles) that say otherwise and I'll return, apologize and correct my misunderstanding.) On the other hand, if your bishop agrees with me, will YOU come back and apologize to me? As honest as I suspect you are, you'll do exactly that. Thanks! Peace!
