@@Slim_Loaf True, my 2012 Rio had only the catalytic converter need replacing and that was covered entirely by warranty when it was 4 years old. Kia was a good experience. I just upgraded 3 months ago to a Hyundai and that is going well so far.

They saw your video, (which has 600k views in one week) assigned someone to your case to solve the problem, and still they can't get their act together and get you the car. That's pretty amazing.

I worked for a silicon valley start up (not tesla) and I can't tell you how similar your experience is to what I experienced. Literally unbelievable that something could be so poorly run. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong, times infinity.

Making me wary of them, too. I was interested in finally upgrading my Corolla, but this is a little much. Never had an issue with Toyota, and Toyota’s have a spare tire, which Tesla does not. Maybe after a few years, Tesla will get their shit straight.

You still want the car? Ask for a refund on the deposit. See how fast you get the car.

@@adamfitz7695 Brand new. I can't find a used car sales figure, I don't assume it is very high though if i'm honest, not relative to the total sales figure. In the USA tesla sells as much as mercedes and more than BMW new despite only offering 3 models, world wide they are still a bit lackluster, but still. Tesla is no longer a start up. 2019 should sell well over half a million cars, if not there has been a major failure in the production ramp up. with the Chinese gigafactory and new models to be released, Tesla has a chance to up it's sells exponentially. eventually sells will Plato of course, but as is they are selling enough to be considered a major car company and should be held to the same standards as one.

They started in like 2007, in terms of automotive companies they're quite new compared to Ford or Nissan, but yeah it's still no excuse if they're pushing out so many cars a week

I paid an depo of 4000 for an Model S and after 2 days I change my mind, i ask them to give me back the money and they never want to give me back the money. Bad Company and i will never buy from them...wait for other company to come out with Ev.👍

The Tesla in space is not in earth's orbit. It was actually launched on a rocket that was supposed to reach Mars but it failed. This was the first launch of this model of rocket, so it's still impressive that it made it to space.

I am having almost the same awful experience with Tesla Customer service. I have ordered on March 30th a used model S 85D. A week after completing everything on My Tesla account I actually had to call them to get some info on who was in charge of me. They gave me a name and somebody else called me to asked questions on things that I already fulfilled on line, like financing, trade-in, pickup location. After that they let me rot for weeks without any answer to any emails asking for estimated delivery date and reason why it was taking so long. I even went to the delivery center to ask what was going on and there was any other persons that I could reach to to make things happen. They put a note on the file saying that I passed by wondering and gave me the email of the manager (no phone numbers available). I emailed again with manager in Cc... didn't change anything... still no answer. I posted a really bad review on Google maps. They got back to me by email after another couple of weeks not even apologizing, just telling me that the car would be ready to pickup at the end of the week. I am scheduled for delivery tomorrow May 10th, 6 weeks after order. Considering that the sales persons at the Tesla showroom told me 3 days to a week because the used car I picked was local. I am now just hoping that the delivery will indeed happen tomorrow... I might just give them a call to make sure ;-)

I know I am, I'm pissed right off about it and I'm just watching you deal with this shit. I'd have brought my kids to the dealer and told them I'm not leaving until I get the car I paid for and let the kids run wild. Did that at a bank once when they claimed they couldn't help me with a pay cheque they decided to hold for multiple weeks. They solved the problem within an hour.

You fix it by starting off dealerships and giving them to current dealer owners with good track records. Tesla, on their own, cannot fix this.

Tesla has to many Apple like fans. People who will praise basic things as amazing while ignoring every negative. People who think the logo is the most important part.

Your mom should call them. A pissed off mom can fix pretty much anything for their kids.

Thank you for posting this. I have been debating on whether to buy a Tesla for a few months now and this has driven me to purchase a used “certified “ Honda Accord hybrid. I have seen many bad experiences with aTesla and I am not about to throw 100k away to a business with such bad practices

Hard to believe. I’ve always heard they had great customer service. Thanks for the first had account of what they are really like. You’re mom was a nice touch. She was funny and sweet.

They literally picked the wrong guy to do this to, which also tells me that this is a regular occurrence.

Read some reports on teslamotorsclub. It's absolutely a regular occurrence.

Big RED FLAG in that one email when they said "... email us when you're 45 minutes away so we can make sure everything is ready for you." BS on that... get the damn car ready BEFORE I start my trip to your dealership so I know it is for sure ready when I get there!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I would have called to make sure given the amount screw ups they've had shown him so far. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but seems like so many fail you can't assume they will get anything right.

Sounds like it is definitely with the Tesla center you are dealing with. I have a friend that purchased 2 used Model S's and another friend that purchased 1, and I got a new Model 3. Both friends said their experience was quick and easy and mine was also. I found a couple paint blemishes on the hood, and sent an email and got a response 2 days later for me to bring the vehicle in and they will repair.

Clearly nobody can do anything alone. The people that were hired to work at engineering are great people, have made great cars and rockets. However, it is clear that the people that work with logistics aren't as competent and since it is a new enterprise, they are not well organized and lack training and discipline.

@@davidhollenshead4892 Agree about Rich's mom, that's something anyone would say when seeing such horrible problems. But Elon is more than just Tesla and yeah, true, they aren't planning everything carefully, maybe because they lack the experience of other car makers that have had a century to refine their work. Elon is a great man, he is humble enough to admit his mistakes and work hard to fix them, but the people who work for him (let's not generalize, most probably not all) are too proud of everything they do, to the point of arrogance. Arrogance can blind people and so they won't admit their mistakes, or so it seems to me. Clearly if you buy a new Tesla car, you get the privileged attention and you don't have to wait much if you pay for the more expensive ones. However, it seems the ones who purchase used Teslas are out of luck. I can see this changing for the better, patience, and make them notice their errors.

I wouldn’t touch a Tesla dealership or website with a 10ft pole & this cements the way I feel. I was treated like a king when I bought my used $60k Porsche (not CPO) from a dealership 6hrs away. Threw a fully refundable deposit on it & they had a it sitting with a red bow on it when I got there & the paperwork was ready to go. They even gave me $100 worth of free stuff from the shop. Tesla will not be selling cars in another 10yrs.

Had pretty much the same experience when i got my new model 3 in new york. And now been living at the service center where they cannot fix anything right the first/second/third time.

The vehicles Tesla lists for sale are still actively being driven by their leasers. The photos supplied of the vehicles condition are generally taken during service which most owners don't know are taking place. This is the same tactic used on internal fleet vehicle sales globally where cars and trucks are listed within an active inventory "for sale" but still being driven by their current owners. Chances are the current owner doesn't have another vehicle lined up and hasn't relinquished the vehicle back to Tesla for delivery to you. Good luck.

If true in this case - not a great way to engender trust/loyalty....

My brother bought a new Model 3 last year. Everything was set up and worked out ahead of time, just a matter of confirming the condition of his trade in, financing insurance etc, all is ready come on over. They flipped the script, wouldn’t honor what they agreed to, just a bad experience overall. Naturally he walked out. He did not have to have this car, he wanted it. Unbeknownst to the “service center” or whatever they call them, my brother worked for Tesla at a fairly high level a few years back. He knows some people. He emailed Elon’s chief of staff, whom he knows personally. Explained the situation, expressed his frustration and frankly disgust at how he was treated. Somebody got the ass chewing of a lifetime I’m guessing, he got his car, got all the things that were originally agreed to plus another $1000 off. On top of numerous apologies... ended well but Jesus, do you not want to sell cars?

I guess they lack selection and training of the employees, this isn't a high end issue, just on the low end, I bet It has been happening a lot compared to other car manufacturers, They really need to set up some proper training and selection before they recruit anyone...

Christopher Hamilton Exactly. Customer service is provided ONLY at gun point. That’s not service. I’m no fan of car dealerships and their corrupt hold on state legislatures. But this is a million miles worse than my worst dealer experience ever. And I’ve had fantastic interactions and service with some local dealers.

We have a model 3 and I can say from experience that dealing with Tesla over email is a nightmare. We waited MONTHS for snow tires and never got them. We were lied to countless time or they flat never responded. I’m very happy you have this platform to share you’re experience because this bullshit needs to stop.

Seriously. My 3 was delivered without EAP enabled even though I optioned it and it was on the window sticker. Took 2 weeks to get them to flip the switch OTA. Shared my experience with other owners and they were just like "wow, 2 weeks? that was fast." Love the car, but man, their customer service and labor practices are kinda shit.

xomm when I finally canceled our snow tire order they emailed me and told me it would be something like 1 to 2 months to get my $2200 back. That’s when I finally lost my shit. Got the money back in a few days after waiting a week for them to actually cancel the order. I will never understand it.

Just FYI I bought a car last year online from Carvana, I couldnt have had a more different experience! It was amazing! They were professional, cordial, had a great line of communication. They delivered the car no problem ahead of schedule, took my trade in with no issues. Transferred the title with ease and made the whole process easy and hassle free!

Wow this was very eye opening and was hearing about the good things about tesla cars and just passed my medical boards and wanted to get a tesla but seeing this just made me second guess it.

This is happening to you, You Tube content creator with 377k subscribers. Imagine what a nornal Jane & Joe Smith going through.

Actual customer here. They’ve bent over backwards for me to make sure I’m happy with my Model S. How they treat Rich isn’t surprising, and I’m sure it doesn’t surprise Rich but it gets him a ton of KZread engagement from faux outrage.

@@waltnassty I mean it's possible, but it seems like they would realize that Rich has a huge reach with potential and current Tesla customers and screwing him over would cause more negative consequences than would providing him with a positive buying experience would. At least I hope so. The DIY rebuild and repair scene is going to come to a head at some point if they plan to continue manufacturing and selling cars and I hope that Tesla sees that trying to destroy it rather than work with it is just going to make it worse when, inevitably, shit hits the fan with people wanting to repair their cars without having to deal with Tesla's BS. There is a reason that car manufacturer's have developed the repair and sales system that exists today. Sure it may not be the most efficient or ideal, but at least it provides the customer with a relatively pleasant experience and things actually get done because there is a different party interested in each different aspect. Anyone who says buying a car is horrible because of the "haggling" and "car dealership experience" hasn't bought a car in the last ten years, because in reality the dealership isn't that bad.

Dude when it comes making a purchase not even the lightning can strike that fast but deliveries ,returns or refunds gotta take years , machines run out of paper and gas , they gotta cross the ocean to get to a PC , you don't know the complex process of pushing a button .

This is a really sad story watching it unfold. Speaking as a new Model 3 Performance owner I had a near flawless experience and rapid processing but can only speak for myself. All I will say is the cars are incredible and worth it.

I just finished watching both of your videos dealing with this, have you considered contacting the Federal Trade Commission or a lawyer with your issue? This is unacceptable, you have much more patience than I would. While I do think that the Dealership model is broken for lots of reasons it doesn't take 30 days to get a car... let alone 2 1/2 months. Good luck Rich, I wish you the best and I really do hope you enjoy the car after all is said and done.

Thanks for posting this. I was about to "sign the cheque" on the same model. Not a chance. Went with BMW. Tesla, you lost an €80,000 deal because of this video.

I've bought 3 certified pre-owned cars from the manufacturer (Mercedes W211 E320, BMW F01 7 series, BMW F10 M5) all were available to be picked up same week. All were in perfect as new condition when I got them (any stone chips taken care of, wheels re-finished etc by default) The fact that Tesla pretend that they are doing you a favour to compensate you for waiting over 2 months by fixing some wheel scuffs and some paintwork is an absolute joke. Additionally, when you are buying something like a 7 series, BMW will loan you anything you want while you are waiting for your car to be prepared, right there and then, you don't have to wait a day or travel across the country to a different dealership

Horror story time please!

Wow! I had great success buying my used Model S CPO Jan-March 2018 (30 days). It was refurbished and documented with warranty, and we picked up the car with great fanfare in Fremont right along with new cars. ALSO it was 58K - I noticed the prices on the site now have CRASHED compared to what I payed a year ago - like $15-20K depreciation, I felt a fool. HOWEVERm your experience is explaining why, from selling unrefurbished cars to the poor customer service. I was considering buying another used, now I am not so eager. Watching the series now for conclusion, hoping it works out for you....

Wow, I got my car then just before CPO became USED. I bet this coincides with turnup of Model 3 production - the lack of Model 3 in 2018 drove the price for then rare used Model S's. 2 cars like mine for $36,600, down 21.5K...
