Please look at my other comment tell me what you think about my idea for the trailer expansion pack mini trailers Burke the truck stops in which you can pull your any one of the models into hook up your trailer / expansion book at a charging station just for long road trips. It would be like an exchange system nobody was on the trailers they would just be at truck stops where you can hook up run until it's dead go to another truck stop drop plug in to charge pick up another trailer and continue on I'm just thinking of it like an expansion battery pack to save you from those long charging sessions on a trip

These attributes contribute to: -Better and easier independent repairs and modding, -Better compatibility with open source technologies. -less flexibility for innovation. All of these (except the third one) lead to faster development of EV technology or vehicle tech in general. Some of these features would available to Tesla to some degree, but not as deep as to affect the motors, battery. The problem with Tesla right now is their lack of flexibility for modding and independent repair. The cause is its autopilot technology, and their plan for the future. You cannot add horsepower to a Tesla without compromising its autopilot. It might not be designed well enough to adjust dynamically to power changes implemented by modders. There's also their supposed plan to be the Apple/Uber of cars. This is the expensive, stupid bit. If their plan is to go the Steve Jobs service route(genius bar repair) they'd be driving the costs of Tesla repairs up, instead of using the current infrastructure for repair. In summary: What we want: more control over what we bought (tuning, real mods, free intensive manuals, repair) What Tesla wants: taxi service Find a solution that satisfies both.

@@robotsix6268 I'm not sure how you got the idea that since its using traditional truck design means its using non-propietary technologies; I'm not sure if they do or not tbh and would love it if you provide a source for this but they would need to from a corporate standpoint when competition is just ramping up in the EV market. Theyd soon be surpassed in technology by nearly everyone which is why I assumed they wouldnt be much different since they wont be a company for very long if they didnt do something different than the competitors which adds some functionality or for a cheaper price (which we already know it isnt cheaper than Ford's Mach E or the Cybertruck and likely the Electric F150) which is only possible through propietary technology. The only thing with this regard that I'm sure of is they're not using the Tesla standard plugs and wont be compatible with Tesla's supercharger network... which again; is a dumb move imo... The only way they could survive and still be modifiable and easily fixable is if they were the Android equivalent to Telsa's Apple and just let everyone run free with it and license the software/hardware but that opens up security and safety concerns when you're talking about a vehicle rather than a cell phone...

Great vid specially since it was unbiased. I like how you guys touched on the gap issues. As someone who works in the insurance industry dealing with cars everything, Tesla’s tend to have the most gap issues. In fact, if you look closely, your driver door and rear door are also slightly off alignment (rear door is slightly higher). Shops tend to hate this about Tesla since even brand new parts that they get will have issues with they way they are built. There should be no reason why you get a new Qtr panel from Tesla and have to do body work to make sure it flushes right. But again, great vid. Loved the way you slid the square space ad, smooth lol.

These people will be accustomed to normal used car maintenance. They will be shocked when they discover the prices of batteries and motors and also the myriad little things that repeatedly fail (screens, door handles, etc) that can't be handled (because...Tesla!) by the mechanic shop down the street. The cherry on top is that Tesla, who is the sole source of all "official", "authorized" service, won't release service records for used cars. So, the prospective used Tesla buyer won't know the car they're looking at buying has been through 3 motors and 2 battery packs in 5 years.
