I disagree because Apple is a different story. When Apple entered the phone market, every other company sold crappy quality phones. Apple succeeded because of the quality of their products. Now those companies have caught up. Some Samsungs today are just as good as iPhones because they learned from Apple’s success and used those ideas to their benefits. This gave Apple a luxury company look and made the iPhone the face of the smartphone market.This story is different when it comes to Tesla’s fans. The Car market was already doing great before Tesla arrived.Quality was going up in the first place and technology continued to grow. Tesla’s aren’t the best cars on the planet. There’s still Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Porsche. And thats only the performance cars. Teslas reliability is horrible. They still have to compete with cars like Toyota and Honda. At least Apple’s iPhones get support for almost 7 years. The iPhone 6s came out in 2015 and is still getting software updates. Thats the difference between Apple fans and Tesla fans

@@Inferno45 technology is bad. car software was really bad before tesla and waaay behind what companies like apple and google produce. tesla’s software is on par with these companies. they got by far the best self-driving tech. they’re one of the very few companies that actually make a profit from their electric cars. the companies you mentioned produce cars that are polluting the earth a lot more than teslas. they’re really behind in software. their self-driving tech? bad or non-existent, do they have convenient features like being able to pre-condition your car’s climate before you get in, software updates, great infotainment systems, etc. i totally understand that you may like the sound of engines, cars that are great to drive like porsches, ferraris etc, but you have to admit tesla pushed the industry forward in every way. there’s a reason why they’re the gold standard for all car companies. like the time audi and porsche had to redesign their electric platform when they reversed engineered a tesla, because of how far ahead tesla was.

@@Inferno45 I agree with you that Apple phones are great, and the price may be justified to some (although I still think they are too expensive), but then you go to MacBooks or Desktops and it is just plain stupid how expensive they are. For the same amount of money of a MacBook you could get a proper PC or a better laptop from HP if you want that executive feel. And for the desktops you could get at least 1.5 times the performance from a PC built from parts

It's the exact same brand association as Apple and their 'Cult of Mac'. 1. Make a competent product, position it as the alternative to corporate mainstream. 2. Price it high, but not out of reach of middle class. 3. Align product as a lifestyle product. 4. Consumers will defend the product/company as it reflects on them personally. @@LplusRatioLol I'm not talking about battery packs. But mostly issues with maintenance and other parts. Your tesla radio doesn't run on 400v nor the windows motors or other electronics. Tesla is still restricting sales of screens and even seats for replacements by customers. This is ridiculous. This is why they're limiting their sales to people who can afford 40k cars and don't fix em. They want them to just overpay for future repairs at their service centers. This ultimately will hurt them even if they keep releasing models to feed off the fed tax incentives.

I mean I guess you can kinda say that as each car has their own characteristics (even EVs). Tho idk how they'd get the "analog feeling" or high rev part(I like the sound of EVs but I wouldn't call it revs).

I think a good rule of thumb is that if they're called "stans" then they're unhealthily obsessed. Fans are normal, stans are insane.

For original Roadster, Model S, and Model X, maybe. But Model 3 and Model Y, not necessarily as they are cheaper. As Nolan already said, some people buy Tesla because it suits their needs, say take advantage of cheaper electric power for example.

@@marioStortuga that’s true if you only look at the profit page of there quarterly report but if you also consider there expenses they make a lot of money of there cars, the problem is that they are building two of the biggest production plants in the world. Credits make it so they are profitable but if Tesla weren’t building massive factories then they would be profitable without selling credits.

Elon fanboys often swear it works and is just around the corner despite the fact that anyone who knows anything about vacuums will tell you that maintaining one over hundreds of miles is absolutely ridiculous. One round from a .50 BMG would kill everyone in the tube even if they were 100 miles down the line.

But at the same time I don't see why people get so upset, I see plenty of non tesla owners having license plates about either an engine type (like 2JZ plates on cars that come with 2JZs) or Vtec on Hondas, Turbo references on Turbo cars, hell if you want to get political, there's people with references that they are proud that their car is not environment friendly, bragging that "they're destroying the planet". I feel like the reason these EV plates hit nerves is because people are self conscious about their hobby, you really shouldn't care this much about someone's license plate, its a license plate.

@@timemachine20yearsago73 if you understand the context then you'll easily see the criticism. Everyone knows Toyota and Honda fans are at war with each other. Only a Toyota (or Honda) driver will recognize that plate and see it as a "In your face, i'm better than your ". And this goes for Ford and Chevy Trucks, there's plenty of vanity plates and don't forget the millions of bumper stickers of Calvin pissing on the other side. Oh there is definitely criticism...you just have to be the right crowd.

I think the advantage car enthusiast loves the freedom and passion that comes with cars. Most car enthusiasts I know have there favourite cars, but respect and appreciate the different car cultures and car genres. Tesla cars are an awesome achievement to technology for cars and I respect and appreciate that. In saying this, I’m more passionate towards the combustion engine within cars from the past and recent present. Being a car enthusiast shouldn’t be a toxic competition between certain people that like certain cars. It should be more of a connected community of all people that are passionate and love cars altogether - whether any car and the people that are involved with them are focused towards the past, present or future of cars. 👍🏻

Tesla owner here who discovered this channel through the Junkyard Digs video on your 52 Imperial first start. Loved seeing the reaction to getting that thing running, can't wait to see it driving! Just commenting that Tesla car guys do exist and there were some great points made in this video. I can't stand the Elon Musk worship but also think that is meme-fied and over inflated by the twitter crowd. The few Tesla owners that I've spoken with seem to be pretty reasonable on the strengths and weaknesses of the cars and the company overall. There are fit and finish issues, part delays, lack of transparency, Elon standard time and his false narrative about the reality of autopilot development. Sandy Munro's videos show the negatives but now he is even a fan. Overall, they are phenomenal cars and I'm very happy every time I go for a drive in mine, its the experience of driving one and the mission statement that makes people stay loyal to the brand in my opinion. I am excited to see other automakers enter the EV space, but want to see the same level of commitment to the charging network and automatic updates before I would consider another brand. Would love to own a classic car to wrench on one day, but for my daily driver I will be sticking to electric vehicles from now on.

The kitchen in the ad read makes me miss science garage. Time to rewatch the whole series

Both encourage owners to think of themselves as innovators, explorers, and pioneers. On paper, they should get along great; just two ways to achieve the same experience. Instead, both fan-bases use their distaste and elitism over the other as one of the mainstays of the ownership experience. If your identity as a car-fan is based on your distaste and superiority over another car-buyer, then you're toxic. The easiest way to rally people together is to give them an enemy to rally against.

Tech enthusiasts see your old car the way they see computers and phones from the same year as your car - laughably out of date and unsophisticated. Car enthusiasts appreciate the art and engineering of cars, the economics that play into building a particular car providing good value for money. Tech enthusiasts just want the latest gadget. They are not car people, don't get it confused.

To be fair, the mass majority of car owners are not car people. . . I think a lot of the major manufacturers only have themselves to blame for pumping out the same boring cars year after year, as if to they couldn't be bothered to put in more effort, since ultimately most people need a vehicle and have to buy something. Most of what Tesla does feels like a middle finger to the automotive giants, which I think is why so many people gravitate towards them, and have created this cult-like following. If the automotive giants really gave a shit, Tesla never would have found a way to succeed; they filled a niche that never would have been there to fill, if other automakers acted like they gave a damn about the consumer.

Even Porsche couldn't make something faster than the old p100d. Tesla markets their products similar to Apple, they make a big splash and get everyone talking about new tech. The mindless followers of tech are no different whether it's Apple or Tesla. Tesla fanboys are diehard over innovative technology that's new and different. What you also need to understand is Tesla had been shorted twice by predatory short buyers who sought to profit off the death of Tesla. They borrow shares, talk shit about the company endlessly, get their media buddies to write negative, polarizing articles. This polarization is why people seek to defend Tesla. Polarization creates polarization, just look at how polarizing Trump is and how polarized the media and woke people became in response. You can blame Tesla diehards on greedy short buyers who wanted to paint an unfair picture of Tesla to get the stock to drop so they could buy it back at the lower price and profit. Some people bought into the anti-Tesla anti-Musk propaganda and spew it the same way people spew conspiracy theories - they think they're clever and know something everyone else is oblivious to, and feel righteous doing so since a moral attack is made against Musk, claiming he didn't develop the tech and all sorts of dumb bullshit. Tesla tech today is nothing like what it was when they started with the Lotus Roadster. Whether most people are car people is irrelevant to my point. Car companies want to innovate but don't have the expertise, and don't want to spend money doing so. They just rip off whoever is innovating and selling products. Just like everyone ripped off the iPhone when it first came out. Developing new tech is extremely expensive, and right now Tesla is leading the industry with innovation, and companies follow because people actually buy Teslas, they always sell out and this indicates a shift in market demand which companies them follow. There would be no new slew of electric supercars if Tesla was showing there was demand for them.

This sounds like a huge bubble about to burst. So much hype generated not because of the car but because of the CEO.

If people really knew what went into getting the materials for these cars and batteries out of the ground and then recycling them cost they would realize they are not eco-friendly at all. The average buyer of one of these definitely only thinks of the completed product. Just the mining of the rare earth metals and other things is insane. Many tons of earth and many thousands of gallons of fuel are burnt in just the extraction of these metals. People are shallow as hell and don't give a damn about things as long as they can virtue signal and feel good about themselves.

I was considering an electric vehicle, and thought of Tesla. Then they made the cyber truck, think I am just gonna stick with the Ford F-150 Lighting. If Tesla made a normal looking pickup I think they would do a lot better.

Car companies should start hosting car meets and car clubs for enthusiasts of their brand, Free spot if you’re a member of the club, 10 bucks entry if it’s an Infiniti and 20 bucks for anything else (if it was an Infiniti dealership)

Corvette owner here...I disagree on your Corvette owners take. Most Corvette owners are huge car enthusiasts about all sorts of cars. Yes we stick to our own at most car meets and shows, but Corvette owners are more into cars in general than probably any other high end sports car people. You think Porsche owners know anything about a Dodge? Not likely.

this is my same take on any fan boys including tesla, i have a tesla on delivery but i also own another gas car. I enjoy working on the car, i am getting the tesla because i drive alot for work and is better then paying (currently $260) in gas per month. like i said i drive alot for work and if i can cut that down by even half i will be happy. but off work its parked in the garage as i rather drive my other car. like you said just because someone leans more to one side does not make them fan boys of them... its just currently these youtubers and tiktokers making it seem extremly bad

I'm surprised Jeep/Jeep culture didn't get brought up at least once.

I don't see the similarity. Jeep is a storied brand that has many bulletproof chassis that can almost "go anywhere" with the right mods. Jeep leans into modding to support them as well. Mod a tesla and its "no supercharging for you" edit the software and they send out lawsuits... hell you can't even buy replacement parts from tesla for your tesla....

Well we’re I live we get around 90% of our energy as wind as in Ireland it is 50% wind energy, so that point is not universal, and you complain about lithium mines but do not complain on how they get the oil for your car, it’s actually worse for the environment to mine oil. Donut media already made a video on this that you should watch.

And in southern Australia there's already Tesla battery farms powered by wind that can supply 30,000 homes with electricity. I'm all for criticizing Tesla cars constructively (car build quality is poor for the price for example, styling imo could use tweaks too), but electricity and it's production can be made clean and is already in the process of becoming cleaner, but fossil fuels will always polluting
