How hard could it be? Sky-gea build: Part 5
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Stagea is back! In this episode we tackle a few of the issues that I've been putting off and we also get all these panels lined up and working properly with each other.
I've been chipping away at this episode for the past 4 weeks so it ended up a little longer than usual, I know some of you have been requesting longer episodes so I hope you enjoy it.
Enjoy the video.

You are so thorough in your work, the patience and attention to detail is incredible! Also, you have cool hair lol
Love this so much! It's really good to see so much effort put into the top bonnet area, since that's a sore spot on most front end swaps.
This is what a master craftsman looks like in the wild.
По своему опыту знаю, насколько это сложный процесс, но не перестаю удивляться, насколько много терпения у вас... Удачи тебе. Жду с нетерпением следующей серии.
I've watched all of the processes to date, absolutely brilliant!
Good stuff..
The amount of work is ridiculous. Very handy, truly inspire to get up and start doing stuff. Thanks, ur the best!)
I must admit. You have alot of patience .trial and error is apart of the game. Your level of perfection is unmatched . Well done bro 👏
Отличная работа. Ждём новых видео и итог вашей работы.
It is at this stage you think,,why did i not just build a ratwagon, newerminding all the fiddly work... I am glad you show how much work that goes into theese kind of builds
Keep up the fantastic work bro... As a ex panel beater car painter there is always very difficult times when doing the sort of work you are doing bro... For someone who is self taught you are doing far better than many so called professionals that I have seen.... I introduced a few people to your channel and they absolutely loved it... Will send you a email in the new year with photos of my work and maybe pop in to see you sometime...

@@TofuAutoWorks you seem similar to me... Bit of a perfectionist... Even with all my knowledge and experience with both cars and scale models I still look at my own work and see many imperfections.... I really can't give you any advice because you are using all proper methods to do both the mods and the moulds... Except to say that there are some very good foams that are super easy to carve and form... Maybe easier and faster in some situations to use that.... I told the lads at Mag n Turbo about you and your channel while I was getting new rims for my GtFour

@@nigelsmith7366 I think the trick with this sort of stuff is you have to be proud of a job you've finished, but immediately after be able to find ways that you could improve. If you're not showing pride in your work then it can begin to feel hopeless. Regarding foams and carving, I've seen a lot of people do this sort of work with the large panels of foam that are way more uniform, but I always found that sticking those to the car looked like a pain. What I'd really like to get into is shaping with industrial clay like proper auto designers do, would be great at keeping the dust down too.
What an awesome build series, amazing how much work you are putting into this. Also absolutely love your video style: no talking, nice background music and all the info you want to know are in the subtitles. Keep up the great work!
Jesus for something that appeared to be going swimmingly, getting the fender gaps right look to have been a major ball ache. Props to you for powering through this.. I think I'd have given up lol.

Your attention to detail is awesome. Great video!
Incredible levels of ingenuity and patience! FairPlay!!
You're a very patient man! Keep it up mate, looking forward to the results.
Great idea with aluminium tape on the bonnet to help shape the wing into it.
Happy to see some progress on it 🤘🏻
I hope the guys at Bad Obsession get a chance to see this, I think they’d love it
All this backtracking and doing things over and over can be very exhausting, but you're doing great! I love seeing things done properly with care and attention to detail!
Puts that rust repair on the roof of my truck I'll be doing this weekend into perspective. Amazing work.
It's looking great!😀 Keep up the great work.
When I saw the washers on the door, I immediately thought "I hope the seals still fit".. and you showed that unfortunately it didn't fit. I honestly didn't think the fenders would be so fiddly. Respect. I always look forward to a new video from you.

Yeah it's one of those things where if it were my own car I might try and find a version of that solution that worked, but since I'm going to be selling this as a kit I don't want everyone that buys it to have to adjust their doors because I was lazy you know.
It takes patience and finesse to create something extraordinary and you certainly have it plenty. Impressed!
Without exaggerating, my favorite channel at the moment. So much "old-school" fabrication I haven't seen lately anywhere. Really refreshing, keep up the great work! Would like to see more content more often ;-)

I enjoy the way you film, and add just the right amount of real time action and fast motion. Once I see you dab fiberglass resin into fiberglass cloth, I don't need 10 minutes of that. lol. Really enjoying the series and can't wait to see more. How does your significant other feel about you coming in the house covered in fiberglass dust? Mine isn't a fan. lol
crazy. never even knew these existed
The 1mm stick-out in the fender is good. Will help with wind noise at speed. We were always taught to err on the side of the front panel farther out than the one rearward for that reason. Nicely done

When the fiberglass fenders are finished it will be pretty easy to push them in while bolting up and close up that gap completely. This plug is almost 6 layers of glass, metal and body filler so my weak little arms cant budge it 😆
The conversion is not that easy but it’s worth it!!🔥🔥🔥
Use tape on al line edges.. apply the filler and them remove the tape.while the filler is soft or if have a light layer.. thia will save alot of time and giving you a closer perfect lines
Looks like a negative pressure fan and filter would help keep the dust off all your tools, help them run a bit longer, that fibreglass dust is hard on the motors. Loving the way those fenders are turning out
What a journey. I think a pair of BMW E39 hinges would have saved you some work, they lift up and then foreward on opening. they also have gas struts to keep the hood up.
When in doubt, break out the crayons! : D

You sir... Deserve all the cookies in the world!
Dang when this is done it would look sick if it had the rear tail light also.
That aluminium tape technique to prevent sanding scratches is really good. So simple and yet I can't believe I've never thought of it before. Also the wetting of the bondo to check for highs and lows in the reflection is good too.. I've always tried to avoid wetting the bondo as I was told it absorbs water.. Maybe that's not the case?
@TofuAutoWorks
Жыл бұрын
Another trick with the Aluminium tape is to put another very bright coloured tape underneath it so that when you sand through you can immediately tell. Generally speaking water on body repairs especially with metal is a very big no-no because that's correct, body filler and even some filler primers are not water proof. What I sprayed this panel with is prepsol or pre paint solvent (wax and grease remover) so it wont form any rust but it does still effect the body filler slightly. As I mentioned though these fenders are just temporary plugs and so it's not a major deal if the filler gets a little wet.
this is what i waiting forrrrr

trust me i'm an engineer😀 good job!
Duck tape works really well as an edge protector too if you don’t have alloy tape
You should invest in some "Flexi-block" much better than wood
The amount of man hours put into this conversion is wild

@TofuAutoWorks

Almost as insane as the price tag that would cost haha. The goal is to have as few GTR parts as possible because here in NZ, Stageas are a very cheap car and I want this conversion to be something that people could do on their own without a massive budget.
