    It should work fine while using it. Just be sure to keep your car running while using it. That way it doesn't drain your batteries too much.

    It can get hot enough to boil water inside for sure. It also doesn't use gas which you wouldn't to use in an enclosed space or where having an open flame could be very dangerous. I myself have made hamburgers using one of these. Would I use it to make a stew or something that is meant to simmer for hours? Of course not. But for quick cooking things? I would think it can work for that.

    Will it drain the battery or blow a fuse

  • @truckonomics9031

    @truckonomics9031

    Good question! I never had one blow a fuse in my truck. I only used it with trucks that had an APU or were idling while I had it on. If you use it under those conditions then you should have no issues with draining the battery.

    When you're camping and a car is stationary, how do you keep your car battery live? Wouldn't these appliances drain the car battery?

    Vehicles have an alternator that keeps the battery charged up. Otherwise you'd be replacing your battery every day. The engine must be running to have the alternator on. Careful with using a car...many small cars are CUVs don't have the proper fuse & wiring capacity to run one of these safely. Look up your vehicle's info or ask a dealership. You can always have things 'upgraded' to safely run one. A pickup or full size SUV usually can handle these stock.

  • @truckonomics9031

    Any electronic device plugged in can drain a car battery given enough time. Ever seen someone leave their headlights on and them come back to a dead battery? These stoves pull some power. The simple fix to this is to leave the vehicle running while it is on. The alternator will keep the power going and your battery will be fine.

    I would check your actual connection for problems. Make sure the red light on the side is staying on constantly. If it turns off during cooking, then you might have a problem. There could be a short in the 10v or in the actual cord for the stove itself. That has not been what I have seen with these portable stoves. Also make sure the thing is clasped close as well while cooking to keep the heat in.

    I took an 18 volt drill battery charger and converted it with 12 volt adapter plug. Have been running this roadpro on 18 volt drill battery for 3 years now. No issues and it actually cooks like you would expect. No blown fuses. Just let battery run out to keep warm or change to new battery every 20 mins. No need to hook anything to your vehicle.

    @@wickway I can tell you that I have never tried that and I wouldn't recommend it for a couple reasons. The first is that despite it being quick cooking, for some reason boiling water takes a while. There also is no way to easily release the steam generated. I would look into a different device for that.

    @@wickway you could use a microwave if you got a power inverter of at least 1000 watts or more. But that is the solution many trucking companies use for when they have an APU or an EPU.
