Glad you made that decision. If you don't follow the installation instructions to the letter, you risk serious fire hazard. See those heavy gauge wires (big) that means it draws a lot of current. Return it!

If you are driving a Freightliner , inside the drivers mirror there’s a temperature sensor . Pull mirror as far towards the window as you can . You will see wire harness . Simply unplug.. truck will idle forever.. note Engine light will come on which indicates malfunction . But no worries plug it back in when no need of use .

You did the right thing. As an Electrical Engineer here is the thing. If something Electric for heat requires large current ( the wires are thicker This thing requires a lot of current which could put a SIGNIFICANT drain on your bettery.

Even if you got the accessory one...you would have to run the truck sooner or later because it might drain your battery if truck is not running. Then if you run the truck might as well use the heat in the truck then.

I like the fact you are well spoken in your videos. I would like to see some dash cam videos to see the road you travel. Adds a little reality to your message. When will you be able to show some road videos? Ever seen IndianaJack? SupertruckerDan? They are some examples.

All you need to do is get a cigarette lighter cable. attach it to that cable.... you can either buy one or just use one from older portable DVD player.... or something that plugged into your lighter

Yeah, it draws 25 amps (Roadpro oven draws 12 amps as a comparison). It is really only for when you are driving.

You know if you run a couple of wires from your truck batteries to your APU batteries you can recharge it. You could use jumper Cables to.Positive to Positive (Red to Red) & (Black to Black)

On the idle shutdown alittle trick is to not pull truck parking break to lock brakes. Only pull trailer air supply and set trailer brakes. This isn't wise though if your running in slop as the trailer brakes like to freeze to brake drums. In a pinch though your truck will idle though

Most of them will blow out the fuse in the cigarette lighter IMMEDIATELY!!!! They have to be wired directly to the battery & the appropriate size of fuse must be used.

Easy fix buy a deep cycle battery that's completely sealed and run it off of that lol very easy dam I wish I could of told you earlier! Than you don't have to turn on your truck all the time to charge it!

There is a way you can override the 5-minute shut down without reprogramming your truck Option 1 set your cruise control to disable the idle shutdown Option 2 Set your trailer brakes and release your tractor brakes this will work for 5min to 2hr depending on the programming of computer

If you have a Carrier Comfort Pro just go to any Carrier dealer your APU should be under warranty still. Same with a tri pac any thermal king dealer should take care of it. No need to waste time at a terminal to get work done on it.

I would be curious if they could just diagnose the problem? Maybe an hour for that with an appointment - reduces downtime. Then you would know what parts are required and the time to complete the repair. Was the problem a bad alternator, belt or broken alternator bracket?

It's an easy mistake to make. Cigarette lighters are only good for about 90 watts... And that is pushing it. That heater is pushing close to 400 watts. A heated blanket might be a good alternative.

If it helps in the future...12 volt runs to battery or cigarette lighter for power. When you buy your next item look on box and it must say 120 current or power, that means you can plug rite into your inverter

Can you at lease agree that the lease agreement is vague or just a general contract being that you came from corporate? But I assure you that you can get it off without breaking the contract.

Only lock trailer breaks. As long as tractor brakes are free they run. It doesn't know if your just sitting in traffic jam or parked with trailer park brakes on.

There are a lot of ways to mess up. I put a sheet of styrafoam under the bed, and a considerable pile of covers. I only idled all night one night in Yankton SD, when it got down below O. Fortunately, in my day, it was not illegal to idle, but I didn't do it. I did, a couple of nights, sleep for about 4 hours, then drive 20 miles to warm things up. (it being in the days of paper logs, when one could be more flexible.) After my first winter, I shut down from Mid Dec. to mid March

If you’re driving a Freightliner the idle shutdown isn’t a “green” thing. I have a Freightliner with a Detroit diesel. The engine needs to idle at a higher rpm to keep the rings properly lubricated. All that to say. When you park, set your brakes, turn on your cruise control and then push the set switch once. The engine should speed up to to around 1000 rpm and idle indefinitely.

Webasto makes a sleeper/cab heater that’s light on the batteries, burns diesel, and heavy on the heat. Been using my Airtop 2000 steady all winter in Canada. Works great.
