Roadpro 12v Frying Pan and Sauce Pan for vehicle and off grid use

astore.amazon.com/diaxaris-20 These items go for just over $20 each at Amazon
An introduction to these very small kitchen appliances intended for camper, truck and small boat use. These are among some of the very limited choices you have in the realm of kitchen items which are able to run on native 12v power. They use a standard car cigar lighter type plug. I got these from Amazon.com in the low $20s, but you can also find them at truck stops and RV supply places in the $25-$30 per item price range.

You can find inserts or stainless pots that would fit down in there. Some people use aluminum inserts, foil, or oven bags. I don't know that aluminum is all that safe. Anyway, you use the heat to cook but you have the pot you can take out and wash. They sell liners for some of them. There is one that a stainless loaf pan fits perfectly.

these have been around since the 70's, they were originally made by west bend aluminum company and sold under the empire brand name. i have the saucepan and frypan both with the empire name and instead of being black they are both a beige color, but otherwise the exact same as the roadpro brand. both heat at the same rate, about the same as a home electric range set on low. not the fastest thing to cook with but at least it's hard to burn any food in one. cleaning is really not too bad, you can actually run it under the faucet without damage, just don't submerge it completely in water.

I bought the non-stick front pan but I did not think about the battery. It requires a 12volt 15 amp out put and the battery I bought a few months ago was a small 12 volt 7.5 amp out put, am I right that it will take longer to heat up?

As long as the battery is fully charged when you start it shouldn't matter. If you have power going in via alternator/generator/ shore power/solar power it shouldn't matter....as long as the sun is shining.

To get decent power out of them you should probably run them on 16v.

i would suggest getting the bestek clip to cigarette lighter adapter and put together a 60 watt solar panel to a 35 ah battery with charge controller

Basically, a standard 110volt 1200 watt skillet running on 12v to 110 1500 watt inverter would work better. On the other hand...creative people making a rocket stove would find cooking very effective, and roadside twigs would be your fuel.

These were not getting hot enough to impress me and in about the same time period of this video I did a crock pot meal with an inverter that turned out fine. The issue with burning stuff in the city is that it can cause legal hassles in some towns if done outside and then there is the potential for carbon monoxide buildup inside the camper.

Just add some water inside the pan and boil it up and then tip it out and then wipe round I’d say that be best bet
