Fun fact: Excluding gen 1 gen 6 is the cheapest generation to complete the national dex in as you need all 4 Gen 6 games and 2 3DSes, you can do it with one 3DS but that requires Pokémon bank which you can’t get anymore so it is easier to get 2 3DSes and trade between the games another way to only need 1 3DS is to GTS with yourself where say in X you put a Raichu in the GTS then you swap to your Omega Ruby and go to the GTS and trade for your Raichu, the gen 6 online will eventually be discontinued meaning this isn’t a permanent solution

@@aceofbade you can go even cheaper if you buy everything used Tip: Wen buying a used 3DS/2DS make sure that you have the owner turn off all of the parental controls as for some reason internet connection is considered a parental control

I believe you get Celebi for the Japanese Colosseum bonus disc. Jirachi came from the bonus disc for Colosseum in America

Yeah I think that's probably true. And if I do that for the future videos, it's just going to get longer and longer. I might do more of a paraphrased summary for gym battles for gen 4 and see how that goes.

I should ask the retro store I visit regularly if they could do distribution events for Pokémon eventually. That’d be so awesome and save me so much time and money

Yeah for sure. I don't know how easy or hard it is for a store to get them, but they're pretty cool. And I was able to get Mew earlier this year, so now I'm just missing Deoxys and Celebi

Great video. You could have added more details like where you got evolution stones, how you bred genderless pokemon like beldum, etc.

Fair point. At this point I can't remember exactly where the stones came from, but if I remember right they were from the Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow shards. You can trade them in for the evo stones. Any non-legendary Pokemon can breed with Ditto. That includes genderless Pokemon, like Magnemite and Beldum.

Man this is what I've been wanting to see, the only thing I would say I want to see in the future is more emphasis on side content and little niche mechanics, I feel like pokemon playthroughs/nuzlocks/challange videos these days are all the same, follow the same formula, maybe its just me but I feel like it would be fun to have a more long form playthrough old, altheough that is a lot more editing so just do you man, im loving your content

I totally get it. This was already a lot of editing as it is. And by the time the final trades happen, I'm ready to be finished with the challenge. But I might try a couple of things for gen 4, like the pokeathlon dome for hgss, and the amity square for platinum. I did upload the entire journey on the VODs channel. I think there's 34 videos total.

I did get a copy of Mew at Toys R Us a long time ago. I also went through a period of thinking going digital was the way to go and I sold all my handheld games. Huge mistake. Luckily a couple of weeks ago I was able to go back to the same store and participate in their Mew event. So now I'm just missing Celebi and Deoxys.

That was an amazing run. Congratulations on your livingdex achievement. If you feel like transferring your Dex up than at least you'll be able to get Celebi in virtual console Crystal and Deoxys in ORAS respectively.

There's actually something different you can do for gens 4 and 5, which I'll explain when I get to those. I am supposed to be getting the capture card in the 3DS back soon, so hopefully I can start on it in either December or January

Technically you can get a celebi in gen 3 legitimately, although it requires you to have 2 japanese games being a gen 3 game and colosseum and the Japanese bonus disk. As well as a Japanese gamecube to play it on. So if you wanted to, you could play through RSE in Japanese so you can trade to colosseum. Then play through Japanese colosseum and purify every shadow mon and then use the bonus disk to get it that way. All you would have to do afterwards would be to trade the celebi to the English emerald and youre good

It took a while. I think each trade itself takes about 1 minute, so each round of trades is 6, then you have to leave the room, swap out Pokemon, and go back in which takes more time. Times however many you have to trade

Regarding kanto starters, bulbasaur is the best option for early to mid game. By the time it stops being good, theres plenty of other options for team builds.

I got all 5 Gen III games. FireRed, GreenLeaf, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. I have 343 Pokémon total. Only missing Mew from gen I. 39 Pokémon from Johto including Ho-oh and Lugia. Completed Gen III 200 minus Jirachi and Deoxys. You need 3 quick plays to get the starters from Kanto and Hoen. 3 full plays for Johto starters completing the regional Pokédex in Emerald. 3 full plays in FR or LG for the Johto legendary cats. The rest is just catching all available pokemon from each version and trade. Tip sapphire you only need to get to 4th or 5th gym to catch Lunatone and that’s basically all you need Sapphire for.

Since I was part of the "I don't need my cases anymore" mindset, I got rid of all the cases a long time ago and I massively regret it. So I took inspiration from a post I saw on the internet about getting cassette tape cases and creating labels that go inside and boom. Cheap case replacements

Colosseum gives you a level 5 Jirachi via a disk and im pretty sure u can soft reset it to be shiny

You missed Mew, Celebi and Deoxys, and those are obtainable through old official event cartridges

Correct. At the time I didn't have access to them. I did get to go back to Found It Electronics and get a copy of Mew recently. But to spend money on the event cartridges isn't something I was going to do

$9001... Things are more expensive in America than they are here in Europe. I bought Colosseum with Pokémon Box combo for I think €120, XD for €90 of so and Pokémon Channel for €90. Emerald I had since 2006 or so and I forgot its price. But Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen I got for I think €60 each of so. I still have mh Wii from 2006 and my 2DS and for around €50 I bought two Gameboy Advances and around €20 or so for a link cable. I'm all set. The only missing mon I could only get semi legit was Deoxys. Mew and Celebi I unfortunately had to download a clone from of projectpokemon. Other than that I'm very happy

Very cool you were able to. I also didn't spend nearly that much when I got my copies of the games. That's just how much they where when I looked them up on Ebay for the video. All thanks to the Video Game Price Spike of 2020

Unfortunately in gen 3, there's not an easy way to get Mew, Deoxys, or Celebi

Why wouldn't you play colosseum and xd first? You still have to catch everything in both those games and it saves time grinding for things like metagross

@@gldylks777 Oh ok. I see. Yeah technically the protagonist didn't go bad again. It was someone out to ruin his reputation. And he doesn't appear in XD from what I remember. You can get Celebi that way. However, you need a japanese Gamecube to access it. I already spent enough money to get this far. I will say I was able to get a Mew from the same game store earlier this year and they said they could do Celebi and Deoxys in the future.

So once you find a Feebas spot (there's 6 on that river), you can keep fishing in that same spot. It has a very high chance to be a Feebas. So it isn't as bad as you think. Just finding the first one is time consuming

hacking with roms basically. you can catch all the mons yourself and then transfer between games. so not as lame as just outright genning the pokemon and doesnt require buying a bunch of expensive carts. pksm is like a better version of bank.
