now we have to hope the SV DLC adds something similar to the dynamax adventures from Sword & Shield but for mythicals. I'm also forced to follow some of this challenge's rules because I have 0 mainline 3ds games so the list at 6:50 is great for tracking what i can ignore.

I think now I can get 993/1025. SWSH, BDSP + dlc, SV + dlc (2 event raid), PLA. The annoying part was pokemon home mobile have series pokedex, which you need to breed/get in that series. tired breeding all the same pokemon again in another series. Since this is the max for now. currently just leveling to 100, hypertrain, nature, ev train all of them bit by bit.

One small problem. You can't transfer Spinda from brilliant diamond shining Pearl in the home. It won't let you because of the design of that Pokemon so technically you are one off

Just checked and you're correct, Spinda can't be transferred into or out of Home because of inconsistencies with the spot patterns, hopefully that gets changed in the future, thanks for pointing that out.

however, Greninja and Chesnaught both have been Tera Raids by now, so you can breed them / get them from (wonder)trade in Scarlet / Violet to get a +6 back --> +5 entries in total possible.

do they just give you the capture in pokemon home pokedex then?

I think we can get the Power Of Alchemy ability once Pokémon Home is able to connect with Scarlet and Violet, since we could get an Alolan Grimer from an in game trade in Let's Go Pikachu, then transfer it to the gen 9 games and use an ability patch on it for it to get its hidden ability.

Actually, you're correct, I completely forgot that you could trade for Alolan forms in the Let's GO games, if Home allows you to trade the Alolan forms to SV, then yes, an Ability Patch should do the trick, in theory, this could also work for the Alolan Geodude line with Galvanize, if the Geodude line were to be added to the SV DLC. Thanks for pointing this out, I'll be sure to bring this up when I eventually make a follow up video to this once the SV DLC is out.

This was a pretty cool video. I can tell u put serious time into this. I salute you for finding out how many moves you can get on the switch games.

I've noticed that pok'emon home gives data on all the entire generation sets of pok'emon data entries. Unless gen 9 is excluded. It's like they are saying, we are sorry for not allowing all pok'emon entries to become available to you. So we did all the work for you.

It has the Pokédex entries from main series games from X and Y onwards. No earlier Pokédex entries are available unless they are duplicated in newer games.

Cacophony is an ability technically created in Ruby and Sapphire, but was never used, and has since been dummied out. It's basically a clone of Soundproof. It may be the last missing ability, since Bulbapedia usually includes it on its lists.

I went and checked the list on Bulbapedia to see if this was the answer, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to the case (unless I didn't look hard enough which is definitely possible as I almost missed Defiant since it looks similar to Defeatist and is right next to it alphabetically), Cacophony was definitely a good guess, and I can definitely see how I would have missed it, I'll likely stumble upon the missing Ability when I make the follow-up video, appreciate the attempt though.

This is a video idea I've been interested in ever since I bought Pokemon Sword and started my quest for a living dex in 2019. Thank you for making this video (with great quality, might I add!) where no one else did. Liked!

Can't wait to catch Zebstrika once the DLC for Scarlet and Violet comes out.

All the animations and models for all 1008 pokemon are done. There is no excuse for them not to have all Pokemon in every game. That'd be awesome wouldn't it? 4.99$ to get blitzle and another 4.99$ to evolve it to zebstrika.

The moves Freeze Shock and Ice Burn cannot be registered via the Home Dex since the Kyurem fusions cannot be sent to Home. The only way to register them is to have Smeargle Sketch them, which isn't possible in the Switch game since Smeargle is only in BDSP and Kyurem is only in SwSh. They are not registered when the fusion is registered in the Dex like Calyrex's moves. Edit: I just checked Home and Calyrex's fusion moves are not counted in Home's Move Dex, so those don't count both towards the obtainable total and the overall total. Freeze Shock and Ice Burn ARE in the Home Dex and cannot be registered with Switch-only rules.

Just did a little digging around and you seem to be correct, Ice Burn & Freeze Shock can't be obtained (yet). Also, I didn't realise that Astral Barrage and Glacial Lance weren't the Home Move Dex, interesting that one pair of Fusion moves are counted and the other pair isn't. Thanks for pointing both of these out, I'll be sure to bring them up when I make the follow-up video.

You can get the Froakie Evolution Line, from trades and surprise trades in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It came from an event yes, but...they are Breedjects meaning they aren't really a event Pokemon because they don't have the mightiest mark. and those trades are very common. but great video must have taken a long time to list all those abilities & pokemon.

While yes, you could get a couple Froakies from trades, and they themselves might not be event Pokémon, I would still count them as events, since it is still only possible because of an event, even if someone else did it, if the event didn't happen, no one is able to breed Greninja to get the Froakies to trade in the first place. Also, having to list all the Pokémon, Moves and Abilities isn't actually as time consuming as you'd think, actually sorting out all the moves and abilities however definitely took some time, especially when you realise that despite having the smallest number, the Abilities take up the largest part of the video, and the Signature Abilities list alone was 1/4 of the whole script. but the Pokémon themselves were actually rather easy.

@@ReshiramsTrainer If i'd listed all the abilities I'd be gasping for air because of my dyslexia and fast talking. also fair enough, on the froakies I guess without the event they wouldn't exist in gen 9 until pokemon home support.

If you only allow for one save file for each unique game, that leaves you at minimum, 6 Pokémon less than you’ve said Grookie, thwackie and rillaboom plus one paldean starter line You choose the other two starters because their alola starter isn’t available anywhere else, whereas rowlet is available as a starter in PLA, and all 3 PLA starters are in the wild in the post game LGPE has no choice in the starters, BDSP’s starters are available in PLA (and I think the grand underground post game) swsh’s starters aren’t available anywhere else, same with SV

I never had a rule against restarting a save file to get the other starters, so that's still fair game, and even if we made that a rule, you can still get all 3 Galar starters as mystery gifts in the mobile version of HOME after you've transferred a Pokémon between HOME & SwSh, same applies to the Paldea starters, so all the starter Pokémon are still available, though I probably should have brought this up in the video.

This was a neat video. I hope a sequel is on the way with the dlc in mind alongside some corrections (like the Spinda mistake). I would like you to also cover forms too. You can register forms too in Home but some of them have requirements for their registration (like depositing the form itself) and many of them are still completely unobtainable on the Switch games alone, like Pokeball Pattern Vivillon, Roaming Form Gimmighoul or Ash Greninja. I also think something like a footnote for those pokemon/forms you would need to restart a save file to have or for version exclusives would be nice to put things into perspective.

A Follow-Up video is definitely happening, I don't plan on starting work on it until the Epilogue is out, but it is happening. As for covering different forms of Pokémon, I have a feeling that its gonna cause me more of a headache than I'd like to deal with, I'll still look into it and might try and cover them if it doesn't look like too much of a hassle.

@@ReshiramsTrainer Yeah I think it's fair to wait for the epilogue to come out. As for the forms, I think it would be worth the time: after all, they are tracked on Home and I think many people are interested in them (especially given how popular the living form dexes are) maybe even more than moves or abilities. Not to mention that most of them are automatically registered when the base form is stored (with the fusion forms being stored when all the involved pokemons are stored) and the majority of the rest are available on the Switch, so it wouldn't take much time to research them too. You should be able to easily find on Bulbapedia or Serebii a list of all forms officially recognized by Home (boxable and not), including those that are visually identical despite being considered different forms (Battle Bond Greninja, all four Aura Break/Power Construct Zygarde and Own Tempo Rockruff), plus the gender differences. If you want to be thorough with it you may even give a special mention to shinies, just for the fact that some of them (like Mew) can be caught in old gens or in GO but not in the Switch games, but this would be a nice added bonus.

So about the Kalos starters, they are available, but Chesnaught had some problems with Iron Treads and Great Tusk, thus this week was cancelled. Greninja was also available for a time before the next raid Pokemon, and Delphox is supposed to be available soon with the Fairy Tera type, completing the Kalos starters, once Home compatibility is available

This video is a bit random when it’s going to reference items vaguely ‘the let’s go games add another 55 Pokémon’ and when it’s going to be more specific ‘spinda was added via the radar search’

I'm a collector of hidden abilities, and I was quite hopeful I'd notice which ability your list missed, but unfortunately I did not. I can point youb towards one omission I did notice, the Greninja line gets Protean as HA, in addition to Kecleon and the Sprigatito line. Great video, I love this kind of material.

While I was fully aware that the Greninja line gets Protean as a Hidden Ability, I said in the video that I was only counting for Pokémon that were obtainable with the rules, which Greninja isn't (only obtainable through limited time events or through Bank or GO), also, someone else has pointed out that the missing ability was Synchronize, thanks anyway.

Day 2 of the dlc Galvanize is now avaliable As well as power of alchemy(was avaliable since the home update dropped) While not available atm minior is confirmed via the files that will be the the indigo disk. The ability category is as low as it will probably go for a while(maybe the black and white remakes can give us some mythicals like the sinnoh games) tho i expect 1 mythical in the second dlc just like keldeo in swsh In the pokemon category after the second dlc will release in december: the kalos startes will be available as well as the unova starters via normal gameplay. In fact the only pokemons left out are furfrou and the elemental monkeys (ofc as well as the mythicals) In the move department we have to see what the second dlc provides us with we know we are getting back the signiture moves of the starters and beak blast

Great video, great music, very detailed stuff here. As for the missing ability, the only way i would find it is to use "find in page" and brute force your way through all of the abilities to find the missing one, sadly

Another commenter already figured out what the missing ability was, it was Synchronize, which would fall into the common abilities.

Huh, I never use Vespiquen so I didn't realize Heal Order was a now defunct move. I guess it is frustrating to face against, but wild that one of its signature moves was deleted.

All of gens 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9 at the very least. All gens 1-4 pokemon are available through BDSP underground and gens 8 and 9 are both on switch

When gen V remakes comes, Fuforou will still be missing.

Actually, the G-Max Melmetal is obtained by transferring a Pokémon from Pokémon GO into HOME, not SwSh, and since Pokémon GO isn't allowed via the "Switch Only" rules, Melmetal is unfortunately still unavailable within the rules.

I said in the video that I only counted Pokémon who got it as a regular ability and that I wasn't counting those who got it as a Hidden Ability, all the abilities that could only be obtained via Hidden Abilities were counted afterwards.

8:39 The Let's Go Tutor Moves you show here are for the Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee, right? Those two Pokémon can't ever enter Pokémon Home so they wouldn't count for its Move Dex. I have no idea how fusion moves and Abilities work since you can't transfer them directly, though they are still listed and I have registered some in mine. I wonder how that works out. (31:26 Guess fusion Abilites work by this system.) (And just for completeness, according to another commenter, Kyruem's need to be Sketched in past games and Calyrex's are unlisted.) 17:25 Pokémon HOME itself also counts As One twice in its Ability Dex. 31:55 Neuroforce would probably registered at the same time as Ultra Necrozma itself, which requires you to register both Necrozma and one of the Pokémon it can fuse with, so not technically the "regardless of form" shown in the screenshot.

In regards to the Let's GO tutor moves, you're correct, I completely overlooked the fact that you can't transfer the Partner Pokémon, I went and checked the move Dex in Home just to be sure and none of the tutor moves are even there to begin with, so I didn't even need to cover them in the first place, thanks for pointing this out. As for Pokémon Home also counting As One twice, I am aware of it, though I don't actually remember my exact reason merging the two (it was probably something along the lines of them basically being one and the same, though you could probably say the same for a few abilities) as I started planning this all the way back in November, in retrospect, it was kinda unnecessary. Also, I'll admit that my explanation for Neuroforce and the other Abilities like it was entirely guess work and that I probably should've looked it up just to be sure, so you could be right about that.

I probably should have mentioned it in the video, but I wasn't counting GTS since, while you could get most of those Pokémon from other people via trades, those Pokémon can only be traded because someone else did the event/transferred from Bank or GO. Take the recent Chesnaught raid event for example, sure you could get Chespin from a trade after someone bred it, but if the event never happened, then no one can breed Chesnaught to get the Chespins to trade in the first place (unless the Chesnaught was transferred through Bank or GO which is also against the rules). Besides, you can get just about any Pokémon through GTS if you have the right Pokémon to trade, which makes most, if not all of the video redundant, so I chose to avoid it.

Furfrou might eventually remain the most elusive pokémon across all Pokémon games in Nintendo Switch. You listed all pokémon that are unobtainable in the Switch games. All the pokémon from gen 1 to 3 might become available if we get GameBoy ports for NSO subscribers. All the pokémon from gen 5 might become available if we get a gen 5 spin-off or remake (which would make sense if they were in development already right now). All the pokémon from gen 6 and above are already obtainable across the Switch games (or will presumably be when SV expansion comes) or can be at least transfered so you can effectively use them... all except Furfrou. Furfrou is not encoded in any of the Pokémon games in Nintendo Switch; it won't be available even if all the Gameboy games are released; it won't probably come even if we get gen 2 or gen 5 remakes (since it is a gen 6 pokémon). And it is not currently enlisted in the datamined pokémon names that should become available in the SV extensions. So... no hope in the horizon for it to come to Nintendo Switch! You can transfer it from Bank and store it in Home, but this will strip Furfrou off its style coiffure, if it has any. The only way to register their forms in Home is to transfer them from Go (and you can only obtain certain forms if you literally capture it in a few select countries!) - Ouch! The most funny thing is, there's a Furfrou-shaped sign in the façade of the salon in Mesagoza! So, I presume the original plan was to include it in the Paldean dex. One last stretch for hope is that it will come in the DLC (the Serperior and Emboar lines were only recently added for the presumed coming pokémon in the future DLC, so who knows about Furfrou...)

it's frustrating that the Alolan lines can be obtained in LGPE, where you cannot determine abilities, but most cannot be transferred to Gen VIII games despite the abilities being functional - Galvanise turning Max Strike to Max Lightning for example

@@wolfetteplays8894 They are in the game, but not in any of the pokedexes so they cannot be traded in. You get them as gifts.

I see you listed Ice Burn, Freeze Shock, Glacial Lance, & Astral Barrage as obtainable moves in the context of this video. They are not, not in Home at least. This is because you cannot deposit a fused Kyurem or Calyrex into Home, and in fact the latter two moves aren't even listed in said list in Home.

Just realizing the healing moves get priority ability is (presumably) named after the thing in US hospitals for ranking urgency of cases in something like the er waiting area, lmao.

Something weird is that almost all of the unobtainable Pokémon are Gen 5, with the only other ones being kalos starters, one kalos Pokémon, and 2 alolan Gen 5 remakes?

The missing ability is Synchronize! And technically, also Natural Gift as you listed it as Natural Power :)

Just checked my notes, and Synchronize does in fact seem to be the missing ability, thanks. Also, Natural Gift is a move that is on the Unavailable moves list, you might be thinking of Natural Cure, which is an Ability and yes, after checking, I did in fact misname it as Natural Power, I likely confused it with Nature Power, which is a move. Thanks for pointing it out regardless, I'll be sure to bring both of these up in the eventual follow-up video.

07:10 Mostly Gen 5 I see. Thankfully we get Legends EZ which likely means those dex entries can be filled in as well.

I'm using GO for missing ones. 994 ATM. I had zyrude/victini but deposited to wrong profile on home its stuck. Spinda on Go and DP stuck. Not using bank.

Since it wasn't mentioned in the video; does Pokémon Home not register some forms as separate Pokémon? I mean, I imagine it wouldn't store the 4 Castforms or Deoxyses, but what about regional variants?

Well it doesn't register them as different Mons, but there is a form dex, that contains all forms when registered.

As micheldem said, there is a form dex that includes even the gender variants. Some of those forms you will automatically get when you transfer the base form (like the megaevolutions) but other ones need you to deposit the specific form (like the Deoxys forms).

The different forms of calyrex get different as one variations

Do you or anyone know if it's possible to register As One in Home? I mean, it's not a battle-exclusive Ability, but it IS exclusive to Calyrex's fused forms, which can't be deposited in Home.

While you can't transfer a fused Calyrex to HOME, I do believe that transferring both Calyrex & Glastrier/Spectrier simultaneously does register As One, though I could be wrong on that, I have both versions of As One registered myself so it's definitely possible.

If you catch all pokemon on let's go eevee will it register for any game or just the game they were caught in

remember that if you transfer into or out of sword or shield you get a gigantamax Melmetal. so +1? it's an 'never-ending' event so I would consider it part of the gen 8 games

I did some digging around and the Gigantamax Melmetal was actually obtained by transferring a Pokémon into HOME from Pokémon GO, not Sword & Shield, thus doesn't count within the switch only rules.

I believe if a fused calyrex is placed into home, it automatically unfuses. Thus, Glacial Lance/Astral Barrage cannot be registered

You're correct, Glacial Lance & Astral Barrage can't be registered, in fact, they aren't even in the HOME move dex to begin with (something I really should've checked beforehand), however, this has already been pointed out be another commenter, thanks anyway.

did you end up making a spreadsheet for this on what pokemon come from which game? if you did could you post it? itd be super useful so you dont have to get every pokemon in every game

Like to see a follow-up for DLC: I’m counting 27 more from the 49 mentioned, 986/1008, wait now it’s 1002/1024 for the new pkmn? Leaving 22 mostly mythicals and Furfrou…..

I've said on numerous occasions that I am making a follow-up video that will include the DLC, however I'm waiting until the Epilogue is out before I begin working on it.

At least some of these got confirmed in the dlc announcement

Actually, you need to complete the National Dex (including Mythicals up to Eternatus, though that may change with SV Home compatibility), which this video proves isn't possible, so no, sadly no Original Colour Magearna.

While Xurkitree (the Electric Ultra Beast) can indeed learn Tail Glow, it can't in any of the Switch games, only Gen 7, meaning you'd have to transfer one from via Pokémon Bank which is against the rules.

@@lazylemymaitland6996 Xurkitree only ever got Tail Glow as a Lv1 move in S&M & US&UM, it doesn't get it in Sw&Sh, the only way to get Tail Glow on a Xurkitree via move relearner would be if the Xurkitree was from Gen 7 and transferred through Bank (which is against the rules). Since the Xurkitree you can catch in the Dynamax Adventures doesn't learn Tail Glow, move relearner won't work since you can't relearn a move the Pokémon never knew. Hope this clears everything up.

Not sure if someone wrote this already, but rough skin is also available of garchomp

While yes, Garchomp does have access to Rough Skin, it only gets it as a hidden ability, and I specifically said in the video that I was only counting Pokémon that get it as a regular ability and that any ability that can only be obtained via hidden abilities would be counted afterwards.

If you want i can trade you a legit meloetta and hoopa over. I have multiple of each.

If you include Pokémon go in pretty sure you can get most of the Pokémon except a few like diancy

Ok but do you now need to complete the 1008 pokedex to get the special Magearna???

As of right now, you only need to complete it up to Eternatus, this includes Mythicals (I'm assuming that Zarude isn't needed then), though that may change once HOME finally gets SV compatibility, we'll just have wait and see.

Was listing off all those unavailable moves in one take? Very impressive if so!

That was indeed one take, took a few attempts though as speaking is anything but a strength, but the whole list was one take with no cuts, this is the same for every list with the grey background, though any list where I showed the Pokémon was heavily edited to cut out mistakes, there was no way I was doing the Signature Abilities list in one take as that was literally 1/4 of the script.

I do not regional variants as new Pokemon despite them having new types. I treat these as alternate formes like Shaymin's Sky Forme.

Just checked, Psystrike is accounted for, though I did accidently place it in the Non-Legendary Signature moves list instead of with the other legendaries. likely wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't pointed out, thanks.

This makes me sad that I didn't download Pokemon Bank in time. My dream of transferring my old gen3 pokemon to a modern storage is dead ):

if your games are physical you can ask for their help and use their bank/home and then trade to you through or compatible current games. or if you have digital if you know someone who also has the games and pokemon bank then you can trade to them and they can transfer up and then trade back to you. or you can try searching for someone who has a 3ds for sale with pokemon bank on it.

I forgot about the move and ability dexes in home, and instead ended up going for max% of available shinies (including shit like the QR codes in gen 7, raid den RNG in SwSh, and in a few cases RNG abusing shinies in older gens to send up). Waiting for gen 9 home support to continue on with it, as I have everything possible except potentially some gen 7 Pokemon if QR codes which work in game for their shiny entries are ever discovered. Somehow the move and ability dexes seem more tedious then that.

I'm assuming that you're referring to the Gigantamax Melmetal you get as a gift in HOME, that requires you to transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon GO which is against the switch only rules.

So i guess u CAN complete the pokedex, youll just need money though. And wait for sv dlc
