Forgot to mention the following: - Sevii is based on the Izu Islands (as seen in the IRL Kanto map at the start of the video, directly south of Mt. Silver) - During the second visit, the League can't be challenged as Lorelei is absent. - After completing the second visit the League gets upgraded. (Johto 'mons, Gen 2~3 Evolutions, Lv61+ 'mons for the E4 and Lv69+ for the Rival; with a Lv75 Starter, this puts them much closer to the Red Fight in Gens 2/4) I love these islands and HGSS/Let's Go lost points with me for not bringing them back.

Honestly I think that the Sevii islands were my favorite part where I first played fire red, I couldn't speak english very well so I didn't pay much attention to the plot (I think I gave a drink to the guard by pure accident), but the little plot line of the lost girl was impossible to miss, it was the first side quest I've ever experienced in a game and I loved it so much. I remember getting to the Sevii Islands for the first time and being absolutely blown away. They *are* small, but as a kid who didn't expect anything new from these remakes, this was like discovering Kanto in GSC all over again. This is one of those few moments I'm kinda glad I didn't have much internet access back then. My favorite spot on the islands was the hotsprings one One Island, because they had some of my favorite trainers to rebattle right outside and because I didn't know the concept of hotsprings back then and found them fascinating - even moreso than in RSE, because these were located in a cave.

I noticed in Legends Arceus that there's a reference to the Sevii Islands. @@Marixchatt Ul'a Ul'a Island, Im doing a map of all Pokemon Regions and began Alola Recently.
The Sevii Islands are a really nice thematic contrast with Kanto - these very small, rural island communities with a much larger presence of nature and less artificial structures. The town areas feel modest and don't impede on the surroundings, and some of the NPCs will talk about the slower pace of life there. I think this theme even blends into the islands' gameplay - there are no incredible rewards for anything you do there, but there is a lot of fun to be had in discovering the small events and simply enjoying the summer-adventure atmosphere.
As a kid, I always found Tectonix's memorial to be very sweet, as an adult, I realized that's the ass end of an Onix sticking out of the ground because it's far too long to be fully buried by a person. Still a sweet memorial though.

Sevii islands are so nostalgic, they are easily my favorite part about FR/LG. I always wished they made an entire Pokemon game themed around lots of small islands, sun/moon introduced massive main islands for its map but I just found FR/LG Sevii islands so much more fun to explore.
I remember as a kid playing through the first 3 islands, then 8 years later, I wanted to catch Mewtwo, so I looked up a guide on youtube and learned about island 4-7. Made me really appreciate FR&LG. Def my favorite Kanto games

One thing I feel worth mentioning concerning Four Island's Icefall Path is that it feels like a spiritual reference to multiple Johto caves. The entrance is very similar to the entrance to Dragon's Den. The name is very similar to Ice Path, which also has sliding ice puzzles and the NeverMeltIce. This area being the only place to need Waterfall could be referring to either Mt. Mortar or the Tohjo Falls. And the ability to encounter wild Lapras is very similar to the Friday fixed encounter with a Lapras in the depths of Union Cave.
I loved the Sevii Islands. I used to do my grinding on One Island: Use the Vs Seeker on the three fighting type trainers south of the hot spring, send out the trainee Pokémon first, switch to Gengar (as the opponents only know Normal and Fighting moves), obliterate them, rinse and repeat until all trainers are defeated, run to hot spring, heal, return to this spot, and do it all again. It's also where Seadra became my favorite Pokémon. She got me through the area when I was unprepared for it (as I had a mono water team used to take down Blaine, and I was struggling to deal with the trainers at first).

I wanna see the Sevii Islands come back. They always felt so mystical and special, especially with areas like Navel Rock and Birth Island. And the remixed Johto music fit so well.
When I was a kid I didn't know for the longest time these islands didn't exist. And then I was like "man maybe I should flesh out my dex more and see if oak says anything". I passed 60 at some point and my mind was BLOWN. After having played through my fire red cart a handful of times it felt like I unlocked an entire new game to play and explore. Gen 3 remakes will probably forever be my favorite in the whole series

This is the kind of remake I expected for Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Imagine a way to obtain old mythicals without the savedata giveaway or limited time items. A mini quest for each celebi, mew, jirachi, deoxys, darkrai, manaphy, and shaymin. Similar to the current PLA integration to obtain Arceus, I would have likes to also see a postgame quest that opened a stable spacetime rift, similar to the ruby/sapphire integration with FR/LG, but which actually EXPANDED the national pokedex to include regional forms and all the PLA mons. God, Fire Red’s Sevii islands were a sick addition, and I’m irritated that idea wasn’t carried onwards to BDSP.
Sevii Islands was the best post-game content for any pokemon game. I loved the Battle Frontier from games such as Platinum, and the Tournaments in BW2. But the amount of content, that was new and full of exploration, available in the Sevii Islands was incredible. I loved it as a kid, and I'll always believe it's the best.
this video is so catered to me by the algorithm as i have been obsessed w the weirdness of the Sevii islands since i was a kid. i played this game several times before realizing that islands 4-7 even existed … someone at school told me about them and i was like omg and played the game AGAIN to experience it, this was my first pokemon game so i had no familiarity with the johto pokemon, and i became obsessssssed with tyranitar. these islands are weird as fuck lmao i love them sm and this video makes me feel very nostalgic ❤
Great video as always! I enjoy the sidebar element that keeps a running summary of what's discussed in each section. I've always been intrigued with the Sevii Islands, I think I'm just a sucker for the trope of having little unique islands to visit. I love that in Wind Waker too.
Don’t forget if you talk to Gideon again after bringing the Sapphire back to Celio he questions you if you’re Giovanni’s child then says you can’t be because Giovanni’s son has red hair, a nod to Silver, our rival in Gen 2, being Giovanni’s son (which i don’t think was even confirmed yet at the time of Gen 3)
Man when I was a kid and realized there were four more Islands I was in love. There's just something so cool and mysterious about the islands. My favorite postgame, I think.

The biggest flaw with Sevii Islands to me is how disconnected the islands feel from each other, it probably wouldn't have hurt to introduce a few routes between them as a method of travel instead of using the ferry to travel to each one of them. Also, Navel Rock & Birth Island should have been the rewards for completing the side quest & obtaining the National Dex instead of Mewtwo, would have added to world building. Which is why I absolutely adored the way Prism & Infinite Fusion handled the way you entered the region for the first time. *(SMALL SPOILERS DOWN BELOW)* In Prism, the route to Mt. Ember is accessible from the route before that game's Victory Road equivalent, Seneca Caverns, you might spot a sea route to the east and decide to go there because why not, only to find yourself in Mt. Ember, probably about to have the biggest nostalgic moment of your life. I sure did, they couldn't put the full Sevii Islands into the the game before it was DMCA'd, but they made sure to give you access to the legendary birds. (which are my favorite legendaries in the series design-wise.) Meanwhile, in Infinite Fusion, the ferry gets stolen by the Kanto Mafia, so what's the solution? YOU RACE YOUR WAY THROUGH THE CURRENTS TO CHASE AFTER THEM MF'S. And let's say things go down in Mt. Ember.

I don't think the National Dex requirement is too rough, I mean, at that point in the game most players should have 60 Pokemon registered, assuming they're trying to catch 'em all
Overall the Sevii Islands feels like both an explanation of the events that led to things in G/S/C and HG/SS, and a bit of a teaser for the gen2 remakes that would come later. I mean it explains and sets up: 1. Where Lorelei got her Lapras ace and why she isn't in the Elite Four in the gen2 games and their remakes, after the events of the Sevii Islands arc she likely decided to stay there and protect them herself. 2. The Team Rocket plot in Joto and where they came from 3. Sets up Silver as being Giovani's son, something that would be outright confirmed in the Celebi event in HG/SS There are hardly any gen2 Pokemon obtainable there and no gen3 Pokemon (understandable), so it feels like a missed opportunity in some ways. Instead of the unused things in Altering Cave, they could have instead placed those Pokemon throughout the Sevii Islands. Plus the ONLY way to obtain either Ho-oh or Lugia without that event is through Collosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness, while Lugia isn't difficult to obtain as it's literally in the way, Ho-oh on the other hand...Good luck with that one.
I still want a game that includes the Sevii Islands as the protagonist's home And to make things even more unlikely, let us go to Kanto and Johto
12:30 never understood why that grass was wasted with Dunsparce but now it makes sense. I just don't understand why they made a Pokemon like that so rare. i used to hate these Islands. Other than the Ember Spa and the two guys carrying high level Pokemon to grind levels, I really didn't care much. This video makes the islands a bit more charming. Nice to see how much extra content it had
The REALLY cryptic thing was Dotted Hole how it NEVER tells you to use CUT, unless of course you can masterfully read braille

Thanks for reminding me how awesome and mindblowing it felt exploring these islands as a kid!
The Sevii isles are legitimately my favorite locations in ALL of pokemon. I almost always make my OCs hail from them when writing or playing tabletops, as its an easy way to make a "fish out of water" for any particular region
I've always liked the Sevii Islands. They're a fun and somewhat unique area that I wish got referenced more in other games.
I always waited to do the sevii island side quests till after i beat the elite 4 so i never felt too jarred by the difference in pacing. The islands are some of favorite spots to shiny hunt, i just love the remixed music
something worth noting on the frlg altering cave: the encounter pool that was supposed to be there are all findable in emerald's safari zone extension, except smeargle. smeargle can be found in artisan cave on the battle frontier in emerald, at a 100% rate. artisan cave is found by activating a sudowoodo event with your wailmer pail. shuckle is found in the safari zone as a rock smash encounter, so yes you can get berry juice in gen 3, and all the others listed plus a few others are found in the grass or by surfing for the wooper/quagsire, or fishing for remoraid/octillery.
Easily my favorite area of the 3rd generation of pokemon. It was like a holiday detour filled with secrets and surprises.
The pattern Bush is designed to resemble the circuit board of the cartridge of the Gen 1 games which are famous for being buggy hence the bug Pokemon found there
I learnt so many things from this video (even though I've been playing for over 22 years now). I don't believe you've mentioned any of the johto/hoenn starters (unless I've missed it) and the roaming beasts (you can get 1 of each depending on the starter that you've chosen). I love your videos, I always learn a lot about some hidden features.
@Scout819

My understanding is that with the starters, you can't get them in FRLG- the Hoenn starters of course are in RSE, and the John ones you get from Birch when you complete the Hoenn Pokédex in Emerald. And the beasts, yeah, it was really cool. Well, minus the Roar Glitch ;) Lol
I’ve played through this game so many times, and I’ve never reached post game without 60 Pokémon in the dex.
I was always _so_ curious what was behind those boxes in that home on Seven Island. Just to find out twenty years later it was a Japanese exclusive thing. XD Love these games!
Wonderful, I've never gone past the first 3 Islands, feels really great to see what the rest looks like. Would love to see a video like this about the Pokéathlon, since I don't know what lies behind it as well but I'm guessing there's not all that much content.
The Semi Islands are some of my favorite post-game content in all of Pokemon games, together with Kanto from the Johto games. Something about exploring a whole new map after beating the first one is super appealing to me!
I had a blast when I first played on the Sevii Islands in Fire Red! Solving all of the puzzles and the storylines were all so fun and interesting. Not having easy access to the internet back then and me being a careless child losing all of the instruction books that the game came with, I had no idea what all the braille dots meant. I remember just playing around in the area around dotted hole and for one reason or another I decided to try and use all of the HM moves to open the door. To my surprise cut got it to open and I was super excited and satisfied with myself for solving it. Once inside, after reading the signs long enough, I realized they were spelling out directions. That's when I started to try and decipher all of the braille I came across to see if I could solve them lol. Honestly such a well made video that provided me with absolute nostalgia! Interestingly enough, I did not know that the berry spots and the items on treasure beach respawned. As a kid I found them and never tried going back to find more because I had no reason to think they respawned. Learned something new even after 20 years.
I like how Lorelei has a tendency to annihilate Team Rocket. That was one of the things that surprised me about Let's Go Pikachu, because they added a scene just before Rock Tunnel where she cruises in on her Lapras and threatens to flash freeze them.
Ah yes, the elusive islands that I so desperately wanted to access past three.
Some things to note (based on memory, might be incorrect): On One Island, there's a area just east of the island, where theres a one tile on the edge of the mini island only accessible via Surf. If you use the item finder while standing on it, you get the PP MAX. On 2 island, there's a hidden item behind the Starter Move Tutors House. On 3 island, The hiker who digs the tunnel in gives you a nugget when he's finished.

There are a lot of items and move tutors I did not mention to keep video well-paced. One I almost mentioned is the Body Slam move tutor on Four Island, replacing the TM on the S.S. Anne in Gen 1, which was probably because Body Slam is a stupidly good move to obtain this early in the game.

It's the pond on island two that has the hidden pp max and the hidden item behind the house is a rare candy
I'm fairly certain that at least Birth Island appears in Emerald, as I remember using a Gameshark to fly to it. Gen 3 is my LEAST favorite of the gens specifically because it felt like you _had_ to cheat in order to access to Deoxys, Jirichi, Mew, and other such events. Maybe I did this on Leaf Green, but I also remember hacking past the plants to see what the old man in Sootopolis was hiding. Also, there are actually two more islands that are in game simply called 8 island and 9 island. You can't get to them through normal gameplay, but they have map data and seem to function properly enough to be somewhat explored, which suggests they were abandoned early on and potentially replaced with Birth Island and Navel Rock.
@DoesRocksFloat

You had to cheat cuz the items needed to go to those places are event distribution only.
I’ve always wanted a video like this exploring some of the more obscure areas of Pokémon regions. Very good
I like how they put so much content in fire red/Leaf green then emerald afterwards. Its also interesting that gen 3 games can interact with each other just so you can complete its national dex. It is also exclusively one of the most tedious and expensive to complete.
i loved the islands when i played leafgreen as a kid always thought they were full of mysteries and legendary pokemon
19:32 This explanation sentiment right there is precisely why I'd encourage people to cheat the games to get the mons they want as long as they're not doing anything competitive. Timed events are frustratingly insulting enough, but regional locked ones are just anticonsumer.
Treasure Beach is where I got my shiny Fearow while just running around. At 9, that was the most amazing catch ever, lol. Still is to this day xD
I've played these games dozens of times and had no idea about the infinite item spots in Kanto until just now. I also didn't know about the hidden leftovers underneath Snorlax until last year. What else have I been missing all this time?

I really like playing through this as a kid, but the final battle with team rocket is very easy and anticlimactic, especially since they are pretty much the last NPCs you will ever fight story-wise.
This is an unreal KZread recommendation. I’m playing leaf green for the first time since I was like 5, and yesterday I beat Blaine and was super confused when Bill showed up and took me away on a boat. I totally forgot these islands existed. Glad I can learn more about them before I continue
This is a great video!! Thank you so much. I’m exploring these islands for the first time as gen 3 was the gen I missed when I was a child. Thank you again.
Loved the Sevii Islands as a kid and still do it's such a shame that they never returned.
20:37 I thought the blocked off door was meant for E-Reader functionality
I really enjoy watching videos like that that go into great detail fully explaining sometimes very narrow concepts or features in games. It's something I sometimes do in my mind, just listing things off in a game I like
The boxes in that one house pissed me off so bad as a kid I could never figure out if they moved
One, two, three...even Earthbound had better numerical sounding names than that LOL
Been watching for a while. This is somehow refreshing pokemon content for me. Subscribed 🤝🏼
18:40 damn that heracross had a horn coming in at just over 5 feet o.O
What an interesting and comprehensive analysis! It's cool to see all the thought that went into designing an area that kid me always found weird but couldn't quite understand.
Lostelle is called "Pedrita" in the Spanish Pedrita is a real name for a female It comes from the name Pedro/Petra + the female suffix ita, this suffix is used to denote the subject or object's smallness or cuteness The pun here is that, it sounds like the word "Perdida" It means Lost (ends in a because is a female person or object, if we're talking about a male object or person the word end in o, Perdido)

I joined pokemon in the heartgold/soulsilver era so I missed out on Gen 3. I see why its a favourite of many. I feel going back and playing now. I just wish there wasn't so many trade requirements to getting the full experience in a pokemon game. I never completed the National Dex as a kid but I always would try and end up being frustrated because I wanted to experience everything but I didn't have friends who cared about pokemon.
Please do more of these with places like the Gen V post game routes.

Lyra will probably have to anyway for the gen 5 livingdex, as many pokemon from gens 1-4 ,and even 5 in the postgame of bw2, can only be obtained in the postgame. That and it probably wouldn't make for interesting or fun content to have episode dedicated to porting over the 493 pokemon from the gen 4 livingdex.

@@JokingThief That's fair, but we gen 5 stans can hope. Plus in a bw2 livingdex, the Moor of Icirrus is important for some ripple mons and getting the oval charm before actually obtaining data on all the pokemon in the Unovandex, and the lati-twins and over exclusives appearing in the Dreamyard.

One thing I realized watching this video is it’s kinda funny that Alola was the region for Gen 7 and we also had the Sevii Islands. There must be some connection…
I ADORED these islands as a kid and would constantly visit them whenever the mood struck me. I would use Four Island's beach to hatch eggs (I loved that music the best), hunt for ages for each version of Unkown on Seven, and grind out the beach on One and forest on Three for the items. I even had my first and only white out with the Black Belt on Kindle Road right there on One Island. I was so pissed and taken aback, that I made it a personal mission to beat him back over and over until I reclaimed the money I lost to him. I think it was around $1000 or $10000, so that was A LOT of ass-kicking xD This vid brought back so many memories, so thank you!
