You should listen to the phone call of a woman calling about a chimpanzee attack on another woman. The officer who answered or dispatcher who answered thought it was a joke at first as well. It's bone chilling, you can hear the chimpanzee in the background attacking the woman. Horrible

This guy totally reinforced the fact that you should definitely AVOID THE NOID.

The reason the discontinued him is not only the hostage situation but he was used to promote 30 minute delivery or it's free but they had to put a stop to the 30-minute delivery due to their drivers causing too many road accidents trying to make the 30 minute mark and we're ultimately fine by the US government and thus had to put a stop to that guarantee

Really? My family often orders dominos pizza but we did not see the Noid. I guess it depends on where it is.

If this guy delayed the delivery of pizzas then he was actually fulfilling his role as "the Noid" and was, essentially, correct. Therefore I think we all owe him an apology.

The Noise in a nutshell:

Could you imagine being so paranoid and how much anxiety going into believing a Mascot for a food place in based solely off of you? I'm not trying to defend the guy necessarily but he took that feeling and anger to the grave with him. Even after therapy and psychiatric treatment. I'm glad no one was hurt for sure. He def needed help easy before this event. I wonder if he'd ever mentioned his belief to anyone else? I mean he was dead serious and quick to tell the Dominos employees his thoughts and where he stands on the matter.

Agreed, this is obviously a mental health case and a good showcase how important it is we keep funding mental health institutions. No bone in my body questions that this person was far far removed from care due to financial difficulties or culture. I am glad this disaster ended without a fatality. But these things are preventable.

As a former driver for Domino's I believe I have an unexplored angle you didn't bring up. The 30 minutes or less moniker got a delivery driver killed cuz he ran a red cuz he was running late. In my opinion that would change a marketing teams direction really quick.

@@twistedyogert It all just varies, basically have to play it by ear as each criminal is different. There's a World's Wildest Police Videos I recall, a guy broke into his boss's mansion for his collection of guns in the basement, no hostages or anything, but the police had to coax him out of there gradually. He tried to charge out once and they blasted the doorway with a ton of bullets, got him in the arm, all on a security camera too thus why it's on that tv show. Negotiator managed to convince him to give up eventually by phone. Not so much a negotiation as just talking a guy down from suicide by cops.

So the employee calls the "safety hotline" to tell her about a serious situation.... and she thinks he's _joking?!!_ I guess it's true what the commercials said, "Avoid the Noid"

Another contributing factor to the noid's demise is because of the delivery drivers themselves. Often to get to the destination on time in order to get paid, they often had to get there as fast as possible, which involved speeding, running red lights, wreckless driving. As you'd imagine, this resulted in car accidents that got people killed or seriously hurt

The phrase "Avoid the Noid" was put on a store marquee by an average employee. ( Mostly All thier marquees had slogans that rhymed) i.e. "One call does it all" It turned out to be a good promotion and was used by Domino's.

Wow. I never heard about this. I usually find an interesting nugget of new info in every video I watch on this channel, even on topics I know about (and a few errors here and there), but this whole event was totally a new one on me. Well done. Story telling of emotions and such was excellent too.

This is how the dominoes pizza stopped using the original noid.

That made me lol several times. But if you pitched it to me as a fictional episode, I'd say it's too unbelievable. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I saw a quote and picture that said “have you seen the noid?” And it was on a domino’s pizza box I ordered. Lol😭

I was a driver in the early 90s and when I got too many points on my license I couldn’t drive for them. I was given an opportunity to work at HQ which had a store inside where the employees would order from and you’d deliver on foot to the offices, even Tom Monaghan would sometimes order. The place was bizarre to me, high level employees were all wearing the same uniforms as the delivery drivers, there was even a store that sold special clothes like Domino’s branded shoes, belts etc. it was cult like in a way. That didn’t last long for me, I couldn’t take it.

The first delivery my buddy did for dominoes or papa John's, I can't remember, was a setup and he was robbed at gunpoint. It was also his last delivery. I mean he survived and wasn't hurt but he immediately resigned after that.

It’s crazy how a bunch of crazy coincidences led to something like this.

If they started their own show I'd 100% watch it.

The gunman is a prime example of humans only being dangerous when they have a weapon. Cowards like him are only a threat when they’re the ones in power. Deny them of that power, and watch them shrivel away.

0:25 They said .357 so yes it was a revolver, but you do know you can refill them right? A single pocket can hold a whole bunch of bullets. Plus a .357 magnum had the chance of penetrating the old style bulletproof vest before Kevlar

I'm about 5 minutes in, pretty sure in 1989 there weren't any .357 magnum semiautomatic handguns. So he had a revolver, a six shot revolver, he fired two shots into the ceiling then four more. Unless he reloaded he's empty.

The length of a .357 cartridge makes auto loaders in the caliber awkward to handle and they're extremely rare. 7-9 shot revolvers are even rarer. I'm guessing he fired 4 rounds in all into ceiling, leaving him with two. Plot twist: his .357 was loaded with .38 special.

To be fair The Noid is always scared me. I often thought about going to Domino's corporation office and making them take away this scary mascot.

I don't know about all Domino's but my local store has a Noid window sticker on it with a circle around it and a cross through the Noid saying Noid safe zone or something like that. Ever since I saw this video I always laughed about the sticker. I told one of the Domino's managers about this story he thought it was an interesting story.
