Jeffrey Dahmer was an unbelievable example of that! The police didn't search the bags in his car when he was pulled for drink driving he said it was yard trimming that he was taking to a dump and they told him to go home (was his first victim) Later on in his killings the police escorted an escaped victim back to his apartment when jeffrey caught back up to him in the street after saying he was his boyfriend and they'd just had an argument. The boy was 14 and the police took him back to a killers house where he was later dismembered and eaten

They are psychopaths who are able to use charm to trick their victims into trusting them. It's usually how a serial killer is able to continue racking up so many bodies. The more deranged ones are too sloppy and unstable to think about using charm to keep up. It also makes the search for them harder as they are able to keep their personal lives and their murderous ones separate, many psychopathic serial killers have mentioned how once they are done with the act they don't think about it anymore until they are ready to do it again. It's amazingly disturbing how their brains work.

My high school history teacher once told us a story about him and a friend hitchhiking in Chicago. He ended up getting into a car with John Wayne Gacy wearing nothing but a towel. When he didn't take them where they wanted to go, my teacher, from the backseat but Gacy in a choke hold while his friend took the wheel. He finally agreed to drop them off so they didn't crash. Him and his friend were 16, and likely would've been 2 more of his victims if they hadn't done anything.

I don't think that would've mattered. If he served 10 years, the span of crimes would have changed, victims list would've changed but he would've still ended up torturing a bunch of teenagers.

The only thing more heinous than the murders of 30+ young men, is the fact that they were all buried under his house for decades while he just lived life.

The parents of the 3 rd victim when he went missing they have told the police to investigate John because he looked suspicious, but they didn’t. He used Ronald McDonald as a comparison frequently (a clown that people trust). If you watch interviews that Stephen King has done he brings up Ronald McDonald, Bozo, and Clarabelle as his inspirations. The story of IT as a whole was inspired by "Three Billy Goats Gruff". SK has actually been very vocal about IT NOT being anything about John Wayne Gacy.

I use to work with a guy who was on Des Plaines PD (the department who arrested Gacy) when Gacy was arrested. He told me that while he wasn't involved in the investigation or arrest he was on shift the night they arrested him. He said Gacy was in his holding cell screaming for his lawyer and saying how he would never spend a day in jail because no jury would ever convict him.

Serial killers have vanished Long ago you won’t see any other serial killer time has changed new technology one cannot get away with killing multiple people it was kind of easy back in a day but it’s 2021 you can’t get away with it at all

@@thealmightyking3686 that's a pretty broad statement though. To say there is none anywhere and won't be again. I mean yes they arnt as many as they used to be but it's a big world out there and over 6 Billion people on it. That's hard to imagine but I do understand what you are meaning.

@@thealmightyking3686 there are active serial killers in the US right now. while i will agree that they probably won't be able to rack up large body counts like those in the past, if killings are close enough together before police can make a connection or so infrequent they cannot, then yes serial killers can and will exist.

A guy I used to go to church with grew up around that area. One of the friends from his neighborhood group had gone missing and they figured he had run away or drowned because they couldn't find him and were bummed out that their friend was gone. He was later found in Gacys basement.

I live kinda near where this happened. So my stepmoms dad actually got invited to a bbq by Gacy but he turned it down and Gacy was trying to pressure him into going but he didn’t, if he went I think he would’ve gotten killed

A friend of my mother's before knew Gacy, and said she always felt a chill around him.

I think these types of killers are the scariest, on the outside they are charming and joyful but deep down inside they are very evil. But you won’t know.

Wow, my mom knew gacy when he was 13. They dated for a few years, highschool sweethearts and whatnot. But she broke up with him before university, bc he always left the seat up when visiting her at my grandparent's home. My grandpa said, "any boy who misses the bowl by that much has got something wrong with him." This convinced her to break off their plans to elope to Chicago in 1971. Im so lucky to have been born, if gacy had better bathroom etiquette, I'd probably never have existed!

I recently saw his authentic clown suits at the crime museum in Pigeon Forge, TN. It's totally worth the visit. The museum itself is massive and takes hours to walk through.

My grandma was really good friends with JWG; he was very well known in the southern Wisconsin area. My mother told me one day JWG was all touchy with my mom and she told my grandma who was in shock and slapped my mom for saying that back then.

What's so creepy is how in the 1970s there were NO cellphones so when you went missing it was harder to find you!

I believe in my heart that he has way more victims than he confessed...

What scares me is that my dad was a kid when Gacy was killing. And where my dad lived at that time was less than a hour from where Gacy lived. My dad was born in 1970 and he was 8 when Gacy was arrested. Good thing Gacy never went to Indiana.

We used to have killer clowns in the Netherlands in 2016. When people heard of this, they started to dress up as clowns too, so you wouldn't know if it was a joke, or an actual killer. You would either get scared, hurt or killed. I was 13 at the time and was terrified to go outsided when they announced there was a clown spotted in the city I went to school to. It was a crazy time. I once saw one on a roundabout, but luckily I was in the car with my mom

My great uncle had actually been to John Wayne Gacy’s house before. I may have gotten some details wrong, but this is what I know. My uncle was in his young 20s, and was hitchhiking from California all the way to Michigan. When he had finally gotten to Chicago, and was standing on the side of the road a man saw him and pulled up asking if he was hitchhiking and where he needed to go. My uncle told him where he had to go, and so the man gave him a ride. He told my great aunt that the man was very talkative, and gave him a bad feeling. The man had taken him back to his house, and not where my uncle wanted to go. He had gotten a bad feeling when walking into the house, and didn’t want to be there at all. The man offered my uncle dinner, but my uncle said no and left the house, due to the whole thing making him uncomfortable. A few years later he was watching the news with his family (my great grandparents, great aunt, + grandpa) and they saw that a man was on the news because he was on death row for killing a bunch of young men. The man was the man who picked him up. That man was John Wayne Gacy.

I've been so afraid of clowns ever since I was a little kid and as an adult I'll never forgive the trauma that occurred on a school field trip that day. It was awful and even as an adult I cry and panic whenever I see a clown still.

I like the two business men who burned his painting with the families

The book, "Johnny and Me", was written by a childhood friend of Gacy talking about his up bringing. I read the book, and it is really telling about how Gacy ended up the way he was. Really gruesome too.

I thought they were going to say his last words were “It’s finger licking good”

When I was a kid, I used to be absolutely terrified of clowns, so much that just by seeing a clown, I would literally cry and scream at the top of my lungs lol
