After I studied up on him with loads of fascination, I watched his interview online. As I did, some parts of me said ‘he seems like someone that I could get along with’ and ‘he’s honestly not giving me any bad vibes right now’. That’s how unassuming and convincing he was. He was a sociopathic killer who mutilated his victims in unspeakable ways, yet he managed to give off an air of gentle mellowness. The fact that he was charming and easy to talk to is absolutely true. And that’s something that is even more dangerous than anyone can imagine for a serial killer to be. I recommend everyone look up the interview to know what I’m talking about

That's just sad. One persons foolish mistake caused the lives of many. I feel terrible for all the people molested/raped/killed by this guy but something about that poor boy just makes me sicker. This didn't have to go so far. It could of ended that day and yet it did not. Other lives could have been save. He managed to leave the house and despite his injury and made an attempt to get help. Poor boy, I hope he was too confused in the end and didn't see death coming. He'd been tortured enough.

And that cop that just shrugged off that little boy and the women that were protesting and jut said “wrap him up and take him home” PLUS it should have been a red flag when he said that he was his boyfriend. Obhelix It's not creepy at all, actually. These are real things that really happened and a lot of people study serial killers and have an interest in the psychology of this kind of behavior. The crimes were heinous, but what happened is what happened, and there are so many reasons to educate people about this sort of crime and depravity. A lot of people are fascinated by these things, there's nothing wrong or sick about that. There is no reason they shouldn't make these fascinating videos. Come on, THINK.

Aries Leo It's not "creepy" at all, actually. It's fascinating psychology. There's nothing creepy about studying and learning about serial killers and the psychology behind why they are the way they are and why they feel compelled to do what they do.The creepy thing would be if one were seeking out these stories/photos, etc because of a similar morbid/potentially dangerous psychosis or desire to do the same to others. If you're fascinated but not compelled or turned on, you have no reason to feel weird or guilty for watching these videos on serial killers, death, funeral homes and practices, the way decomposition works, etc. Don't feel weird or bad for being interested, instead think about all the people these videos and documentaries will inspire to become criminal profilers and catch these monsters. That's pretty cool to me. Cheers :)

They did peak into his apartment, which apparently smelled pretty terrible, but told the 3 women to butt out and didn't do a background check on Dahmer. They thought it was a "domestic" case, and it's pretty well assumed they just didn't want to deal with gay domestic violence. I think the worst part about this case is how many times he could've been stopped if authorities (military or otherwise) would've just believed the victims... Edit: additionally, he was 31 at the time of the murder, not 18. Even more fucked up.

An incoherent 14-year-old kid with a hole drilled in his head bleeding out his ass in the middle of the street. 31 year old creepo shows up and says 14-year-old is his lover and "he gets this way when he is intoxicated." Cops don't ask either for identification, and take him back to Dahmer's place where they can smell the stink of the 3-day old corpse in his apartment. They don't investigate, if they had even asked Dahmer for some ID they could have found out he was a convicted sex offender...convicted of molesting the kid with the hole in his head's older brother 3 years earlier. Both officers were fired, but appealed to a judge who allowed them to be reinstated. He was later elected president of the Milwaukee Police Association. You couldn't keep a job at Taco Bell being that negligent in your duties, but evidently if you are a cop and your gross negligence gets a kid killed, you not only keep your job, but they elect you union president.

Rose novel Dahmer claimed that he was 19. All they had to do was ask someone for some ID. If they thought the kid was legit intoxicated they should have brought him in for public drunkenness and underage drinking. At least then someone would have ID'd him and maybe realized that he was the brother of the other kid Dahmer had molested. Just so many failures.
