I learned the existance of this anti-mascot through a recent game called "Pizza tower". The guy who explain the game said that the boss "the noise" is completly inspired by the noid. But i didn't know this character has his reputation ruined by a chilling event. This is quite incredible to think that a dominos deliveryman was attack by a guy who have "noid" on his name and who have mental problems (the exact same concept as the Noid).

My dad was the owner of a Domino’s in New Mexico when I was really young so as a result I grew up surrounded by a bunch of old Noid merchandise. So as a kid he was just as much of a presence as all the other mascots for me.

@@FamiliarFacesChannel Yeah, Domino's have been here since the early '80s. (and they are absolutely everywhere) We have Pizza Hut and Papa John's too, and apparantly Little Caesars are starting to franchise here too. But Domino's have never used The Noid here strangely.

If you want a description for the series, let's say it's like "Uncle Grandpa meets the Phantom Tollbooth". Why do I call it that? Well, here's the long description: Like Uncle Grandpa, Nilus the Sandman (the character) goes around the world helping first world problem issues of many children, and is even aided by some friends. Like the Phantom Tollbooth, Nilus the Sandman (the series) is a musical cartoon/live-action hybrid series that teaches kids about solving first world problems with critical thinking. Now, about Nilus' friends they are an Anthropomorphic Singing Planet Venus, a Boogie Man that likes to Boogie and Sing (while also not being a villain compared to the Nightmare Before Christmas and Powerpuff Girls incarnations), a Blue Camel who somehow has a lot of free time on his hands, and Pearl the Sassy Southerner Clam. I say Nilus the Sandman would make a great topic for "Familiar Faces", because there's a bit of history to both the name and the character. 1. While not the same type of person as the Greek God of the same name; the name "Nilus" is named after the River Nile, which explains his flowing garb, and why one of his friends is a Camel he rides on in the TV series, as people associate the River Nile with Egypt, which in turn makes people think of deserts and Camels; also, deserts have a lot of sand. The name "Nilus" also affiliates with positive traits like philanthropy, compassion, persuasive reasoning, and spirituality along with being mysterious and unpredictable; traits of which fit in with the titular Sandman character. 2. The Noid was also allegedly discontinued because of the "30 Minutes or Less" deal they made at the time being a huge and dangerous stain on the delivery drivers. Either way, I find those both excuses for the fact that the mascot just didn't have staying power. It was a product of the 80's, and I don't think they would have bothered updating it and/or kicking Will Vinton Studios to the side for a cheaper company to handle it.

Also don't forget the fan game "Noid 2" a 3d platformer with a dab botton

​@@FamiliarFacesChannel While I understand your point for not including Yo! Noid 2 I still think that is important to the Noid legacy. Apart of being a surprisingly good game it's honestly the most relevant thing related to the character from 1990 to 2020, and a lot of younger people (Including myself) that didn't grew up in the 20th century know of the character thanks to it. Also as a legit Noid fan a lot of stuff from that game like the dab button, the soundtrack or the history behind the final boss are a signature of the character nowadays and I feel the Noid "empty" without them. The Noid is still remembered by the ads from the 80's but Yo! Noid 2 was the true rebirth of the character before Domino's came in 2021.

I was surprised to see the Noid back. The Cgi is actually well done because it could've been a nightmare fuel abomination. It is sad that robot cars were marketed because so many people are out of work. Then again most Dominoes near me have had We're Hiring signs for months so maybe some got tired of waiting. Not right but a solution nonetheless. Thank you for this review, sir.

Yknow one thing I love about this channel and what you do is familiar faces and it’s introspectives on particular characters, not even like supremely major ones Your mlp retrospective especially gave me a lot of quick tidbits of insight on the original series, and how it’s got a handful of really interestingly handled villains, nothing much to add on just really appreciate what you do

Though the Noid himself may be avoided years ago, but thanks to Crash Bandicoot along with a new commercial, we're hoping that we get to see more misadventures and other antics The Noid himself can get himself Into and who knows, will might even bring back one of the evil Imposters from the original Yo Noid! NES game to spice thing sup or even more crossovers In mind.

I didn't grow up on Dominos or even Pizza Hut. My go-to pizza place was a place near my house called Bellas. And for big brand name pizza, my favorite was Papa Johns.

I'm glad this series still shows up occasionally, I always enjoyed it.

Did you see the Hello Nurse Episode I made 3 weeks ago? I am legitimately asking because KZread might pulling some shanagans.

It's been awhile since I last watched a Familiar Faces video. I'm really glad you haven't abandoned it completely, because your old countdown videos are ones I still return to after all this time. I'm also pleasantly surprised with how much you've matured in your views over the years! I still remember that one incident from the TGWTG days where a female commenter got on your case for drawing that one really sexualized female anime character (I don't remember the name but her picture shows up in the title card sequence, the blonde wearing a straw hat with huge... sacks of land) replicating the famous arms stretched pose of Nausicaa, because the commenter felt like it was an insult to Miyazaki because all of his female characters are very non-sexual (of course they're all young girls, the majority of whom are under 18 so it'd be gross if they were sexualized). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that the growth and willingness to bring up certain subjects is really appreciated. I love to see it. (As the kids say. 😝)
