I'm a journalist myself. The first and most important rule is 'check the sources'. That's the main difference between a reporter and a hack. If you do it seriously, you can afford to be biased. A piece of news is a fact told through a point of view, not a point of view that makes up a fact.

Wow, Mitch, great video!! I use to watch the Spanish public tv but just to get an idea of what it is happening in the world but I don't want to trust 100 % the news, because there are a lot of influences like politicians, sponsors...I agree about what the last lady has said. Bravo Mitch

Well done, EasyEnglish! You covered such a complicated subject. Good job! Anyway, all I can tell you is that in my country of origin an ever fewer number of people are trusting the media because they proved to be biased on many occasions. I myself I'm not an exception and this is the way I feel about it: they are untrustworthy and that's that.

Thanks Gabriele 🙌 I (Mitch) also swerve most mainstream news media now - I’ll look for the main headlines but then go to independent journalists through KZread for breakdowns.

I have one rule, "If the news is breaking enough, it'll reach me." So I usually don't bother...

Great video! I normally watch TLDR on KZread and Instagram as I think they try their best to share the news in an unbiased, objective way! (They also provide references of their sources sometimes)

I just subscribed to TLDR, seems like a great way to break down stories

I like to listen to news on different platforms ,social media, podcasts ,some applications .I'm proud to say I've never bought a newspaper in the UK in my life ,most are Rubbish and politically biased!

Thanks for the video 👍 I don't like following the news at all, it's full of unnecessary information, my knowledge of which won't make any difference. Media says that we should know the current situation but the fact is that we don't have anyway to affect the current situation even if we know it.

It’s an interesting point you make, how wide should you cast your net for news?

Good video. Listening and watching news of Britain I have to control my fingers so I don't type something political in here. It's very important to double check the sources of news are trustworthy, who do they belong to and who influences theircontent. I also generally distrust papers with big bold letters on their first page(s), in Britain or in Germany. I watch German news on tv, the 1. and 2. channel and regional news, which I think are pretty trustworthy, sometimes BBC, and different bits of news on youtube.

Very diplomatic of you. I can’t see those kind of papers lasting much longer, even the people who still read them must know they’re fishing with these terrible (mostly pun-based) headlines

I read online news. For the bad news, I just read the headlines, surely someone else will tell me about that later, so I only click on the curious, funny or scientific news. By the way, the man with dark orange sunglasses was The Beast from Split, wasn't he? 😮 Lucky you, he didn't change during the interview 😉.
