    Good luck with the upcoming lessons, two most important things- one-be patient with yourself, it’s a new experience, 2-be attentive to what is going on around the boat as you pilot it. Above all else try and keep it simple you don’t need to be heavy on the throttles at the dock when you’re learning especially when you’re docking the boat in between pilings, shifting in and out of gear with port and starboard engines is the best way to do it, you don’t need to worry about the bow thruster until you’ve mastered using the throttles it’s just something else that would get in the way trying to learn all at once. Just remember everybody makes mistakes even experts that’s how you will learn, once you get the feel for your boat it will become second nature to dock it wherever you need to. Above all else she’s extremely well-built a little bump on a piling or dock really isn’t gonna hurt, it’s a learning curve and I’m sure you’ll do fine. It will be a change of pace from being down in the bilge trying to fix things lol. Good luck and most of all have fun. PS - above all else remember every time you move the boat depending upon the wind and current and tide it’s always gonna be a little different than the last time as long as you understand that the weather and elements dictate how you are going to maneuver you will be fine. The more you practice the better you will be come at it, enjoy it😊👍

    I'm impressed with what you're doing and you picked the best built boat ever! A Hatteras! And that boat will be easy to maneuver because it's a tank and won't get blown around.Love everything your doing! I own a 42 Hatteras Convertible and I've had many boats but this one is built like a Sherman tank! It will take whatever you will take. I had a Selene and it was a great sea boat too.

    I will email you. I think your up and down solenoids are turning on at the same time. I also noticed that the over temperature sensor/Thermal protection sensor on the motor that the wires go nowhere. If that temperature sensor works and the windlass is overheated it should open the connection to your control wiring to prevent you from operating the windlass so you do not overheat the motor.

    Bad Solenoid: There might be a faulty solenoid causing the issue. You should check if it's functioning correctly. Field Wires Not Wired Correctly: If the field wires are not wired correctly, it may lead to malfunctions in the windlass anchor motor. Direct Short on the Windless: A direct short on the windlass could be causing the problem. You need to locate the source of the short and fix it. Solenoid Box Issue: The problem could be within the solenoid box itself, which may require professional assistance. Start Capacitors: You mentioned not knowing about start capacitors. These are essential components in the operation of the windlass anchor motor. If they are not functioning correctly, it could be the cause of the issue. Breaker Tripping: If the breaker trips when you put power to the up and down terminals and click one of the switches, it could be due to a fault in the windlass motor or a problem with the wiring. To troubleshoot and resolve the issue, you should: Check the solenoid and field wires for any signs of damage or incorrect wiring. Inspect the solenoid box for any visible issues. Test the start capacitors to ensure they are functioning correctly. If necessary, seek professional assistance to diagnose and repair the problem. To provide detailed step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting the windlass anchor motor on your yacht we can follow these general guidelines based on the information provided: 1. **Check the Control Box Contacts**: Open the control box by removing the top studs and inspect the contacts for dirt. Clean the contacts using a small wire brush if needed. 2. **Examine Field Wires**: Inspect the field wires for any signs of damage or incorrect wiring. Make sure they are connected correctly to the solenoid box and the rest of the system. 3. **Test Start Capacitors**: Ensure that the start capacitors are functioning correctly. If you are unsure about their role or functionality, consider seeking professional advice. 4. **Inspect the Solenoid Box**: Look for any visible issues or damages within the solenoid box. If there are no apparent problems, proceed to the next step. 5. **Check the Clutch Adjustment**: If the windlass motor runs but doesn't deploy or retrieve the anchor rode, the clutch adjustment might be the culprit. Loosen the clutch to allow the chain to freefall, ensuring the clutch allows the chainwheel to spin independently of the main shaft driven by the motor. 6. **Assess Voltage Levels**: If the windlass motor doesn't run when activated with the control, check the voltage levels at the battery and breaker. Replace the control box if necessary, but address any underlying voltage issues in the battery capacity or cable sizing. 7. **Measure Motor Voltage**: If the windlass motor runs in one direction but not the other, measure the voltage at the motor. If it's okay, check the brushes and clean them. If the motor still doesn't work, replace it. Let's dive deeper into the technical aspects of the clutch, box, and capacitor in your windlass anchor motor system: **Clutch**: The clutch is responsible for connecting and disconnecting the drive train of the windlass motor. It ensures smooth deployment and retrieval of the anchor rode. Common clutch issues include loose clutches, worn-out clutch parts, or misalignments. To troubleshoot, check the tension of the clutch, inspect the clutch parts for wear, and align the clutch components correctly. **Box**: The box refers to the housing or enclosure of the windlass motor. Issues with the box can include leaks, cracks, or loose fittings. To diagnose, examine the box for signs of damage, ensure all bolts and screws are tightly secured, and investigate any leaks or moisture buildup. **Capacitor**: The capacitor is an electronic component that stores energy and releases it when required. In the context of a windlass anchor motor, it helps maintain the proper flow of current during the starting process. If the capacitor is faulty, the motor may not function correctly. To test the capacitor, use a multimeter to check its resistance and voltage levels. If the readings are outside the specified range, the capacitor likely needs replacement. When troubleshooting the windlass anchor motor, remember to follow a systematic approach. Start with basic checks like verifying power supply, inspecting the control box, and testing the starter button. Then, move on to more complex tasks like checking the motor, clutch, and capacitor. Always refer to the manufacturer's documentation or consult a professional if you are unsure about any step in the process.

    @@ShaylaVie Both "Ladybug Yacht Retreats" and "Ladybug Yacht Charters" have their merits, but they convey slightly different messages: Ladybug Yacht Retreats: This name emphasizes the retreat aspect, suggesting a focus on relaxation, rejuvenation, and perhaps even personal growth. It could attract clients seeking a more tranquil and reflective experience aboard the yacht. Ladybug Yacht Charters: This name highlights the chartering service itself, indicating that the primary offering is the opportunity to rent the yacht for various purposes, including leisurely cruises, events, and vacations. It's straightforward and clear about the yacht's function as a rental. Here are some great color options for yachts in such climates: White: Classic and timeless, white yachts are popular choices as they reflect sunlight effectively and give a clean, crisp appearance. Cream: A creamy off-white shade can provide a softer and warmer look compared to pure white, while still offering excellent reflectivity. Light Gray: Light gray is a versatile option that can complement the surroundings and is less prone to showing dirt and stains compared to white. Pale Blue: A light blue hue can evoke a nautical theme while still reflecting sunlight effectively. It also blends well with the sky and water. Beige or Sand: These neutral earth tones can give the yacht a natural and elegant appearance, and they complement the coastal environment beautifully. Light Green: Soft shades of green can add a touch of freshness and harmony to the yacht's exterior, especially against the backdrop of lush vegetation in Florida. Silver or Metallic: Metallic finishes, such as silver or light metallic gray, not only look sleek and modern but also offer good reflectivity and heat dissipation. For yacht interiors in hot and humid climates like Florida, it's important to choose colors and materials that not only look stylish but also help maintain a comfortable and cool environment. Here are some considerations for interior colors: Light Neutrals: Light colors such as white, cream, beige, and light gray are excellent choices for yacht interiors as they reflect light and heat, making the space feel cooler and more spacious. Soft Blues and Greens: Soft shades of blue and green can create a calming and refreshing atmosphere reminiscent of the ocean and nature. These colors also help to visually cool down the interior. Pastels: Pastel hues like pale yellow, soft pink, or light lavender can add a subtle touch of color while maintaining a light and airy feel in the interior. Natural Wood Tones: Incorporating natural wood finishes for flooring, furniture, and accents can add warmth and elegance to the interior while providing a connection to the maritime environment. Metallic Accents: Adding metallic accents in silver, chrome, or brushed nickel can add a touch of sophistication and reflectivity to the interior design. Light Fabrics: Opt for lightweight and breathable fabrics for upholstery, curtains, and bedding to enhance comfort in the humid climate. Light-colored fabrics also help to reflect sunlight and heat. Minimal Patterns: Choose subtle or minimal patterns to avoid overwhelming the space and to maintain a sense of openness and tranquility. It's also important to consider practical aspects such as durability, stain resistance, and ease of maintenance when selecting interior materials and colors for a yacht in a hot and humid climate. If you want to evoke the essence of a ladybug without using traditional black or red colors, you can still capture its spirit by incorporating elements of its appearance and symbolism in more subtle ways. Here are some creative suggestions: Cream and Gold: Use cream or off-white as the primary color for the yacht's exterior, representing the ladybug's soft underbelly. Accentuate with gold trim or detailing to symbolize the ladybug's distinctive spots. White and Yellow: Opt for a predominantly white exterior with yellow accents or stripes, reminiscent of the ladybug's bright and cheerful appearance. Yellow can also symbolize warmth and positivity. Cream and Brown: Choose a cream-colored exterior and complement it with brown accents or patterns to mimic the ladybug's earthy tones. This combination can create a sophisticated and elegant look. Cream and Green: Incorporate a cream or light beige base color and pair it with green accents or stripes, representing the ladybug's connection to nature and foliage. Green can symbolize growth, harmony, and vitality. Cream and Blue: Select a cream or ivory hue for the yacht's exterior and add touches of blue, such as stripes or detailing, to evoke the ladybug's association with the sky and water. Blue can convey a sense of tranquility and serenity. Cream and Silver: Opt for a creamy or pearl-colored exterior and enhance it with silver accents or metallic finishes, symbolizing the ladybug's shiny appearance and reflecting the light like its glossy shell. By creatively incorporating these color combinations and design elements, you can capture the essence of a ladybug in a unique and elegant way without relying on traditional black or red colors. Remember to consider the overall aesthetic of the yacht and its surroundings to achieve a cohesive and visually appealing look.

    Windlass issue - are you sure have it wired correctly? There should be 2 separate power going to the forward and reverse lugs.(only one should power at a time when pressing up or down button) Sounds like you are powering both forward and reverse lugs at the same time when pressing the up or down button. Also make sure you have ground on the correct lug. Do you have starting capacitors and are they ok?

  • @ShaylaVie

    Ground is rght... they are clearly labeled. We are putting whte on up and black wire on down. The issue seems to be in the solenoid box somewhere. I don't know about start capacitors. No one has mentioned them. I'll check on that.

    @@ShaylaVie make sure you are not getting power to both up and down lugs at same time when you press the button. If you are, there is a wiring problem with the solenoids.

  • @AdventuresofHappyOurs

    @AdventuresofHappyOurs

    4 ай бұрын

    One other thing, when you press a windless button(say down) 2 solenoids should energize in a cross cross pattern. Meaning when the upper left solenoid activates, the lower right should also. When you press the other switch(say up), the opposite solenoids should activate (lower left and upper right). The solenoids reverse the positive and negative to the motor and reverse the current to change spin direction. If a solenoid is not operating correctly, it is shorting current to ground. it could be a Bad solenoid or field wires not wired correctly. (It’s hard to see where those smaller wires go in photos).

    Great to see an up to date video. Your solenoids are all wired together. Not suppose to be. You have Copper straps connecting all 4 together. That is why you can do one side or the other but not up and down hooked at the same time.. It is creating a dead short. Just what I can tell by your clip of the box. If you are able to free wheel your anchor out and power in. You will be fine. Trying to hand crank 150' of chain back into the boat is not fun. And a lot of work. If you put 2 videos out a week. You will catch your audience up to where you are now faster. If everything required by USCG is working on your vessel. You are ready to leave the dock. Best of luck with learning your boat and how it handles. Cheers.
