Personally I like the white line work flowers being a bit more faded, like they are in the "background" and aren't competing with your larger flowers. I think it would look great if you filled in those larger black patches with a bunch of white ink flowers to subtly give some more character to those areas without taking away the overall aesthetic of the piece.

I’ve been watching some of your older vids and its such a shock to see you without tats. Always beautiful but I really think your aesthetic now suits you so well. As for the white over black. I’d be doodling white all over that black area. It would add such a cool affect almost receding into the background and only noticeable up close. 🤩

Color on blackout requires multiple sessions to really stand out. Also, more black around the white will make them stand out more. Seeing what Ephemeral Remy has done with color over black, you could really do a lot with white flowers over black. Love that you're experimenting with it!

I’ve got a white ink tattoo on a black ink one for 2 years now, and mine is more noticeable than yours. My tattoo artist explained to me that for this to work, you need to 1/ use a thick white ink, because the more liquidy the ink is, the less pigmented it is; and 2/ it’s best to wait several years after the black work has been done, minimum two years. As for me I did it 10 years after the black one, we did one touch up and it pops out really good 🤩

This is good information. I got a solid black tattoo transformers logo from 13 years ago that has faded to that typical “slight green” look and has gotten fuzzy with age. I’m about to go in and redo it properly with color and some parts of it use white ink. I’m not looking for a miracle, but the tattoo definitely needs to be touched up and re crisped no matter what. The artist seems pretty confident because I was open to doing a full on cover up instead.

I'm not yet heavily tattooed, but I'm working on it, and I like knowing what options are out there (besides laser removal) just in case I ever find myself not liking (or wanting a drastic re-work of) any of my pieces 😊

that white over black healed unexpected and looks awesome i cannot describe how its healed but its like chalk and looks awesome. so bold while over black works pretty good. thought at first it goind to show the black nuderneath and make it gray in time ( maybe as it ages) but since its bold, the black was replaced with the white and looks quite awesome.

I love that sleeve! I have been saving a whole blank arm for something I really love… and I am considering the black but since it’s blank now, I could have the entire thing done with negative space designs! But I’d have to be REALLY choosy about that artist because my area doesn’t have the most skilled artists…. I trust them with most tattoos but I would be traveling for that one!

@@maenad1231 absolutely! For my sleeve I travel several hours and pay double, but it’s worth it! My more simple or silly tattoos (like tomorrow I am getting a spaceship abducting a cat in a beam 😂 and next to that I have a shadow of a cat walking on a rope lol) my local artists do a great job on those…. But I have a portrait planned for my thigh, and my black/negative space sleeve that I want, I’ll be doing a ton of research and traveling for those!

I have two blackout sleeves with white American traditional sleeves on top. Both are a couple years old. The white stays well, just one pass. The sun will make the white ink yellow a bit. I generally stay out of the sun as black out sleeves tend to capture A LOT of heat

My first tattoo was on my chest, starting on top of my collar bone to the top of my breast tissue. It was unfortunate the really dark black ink (I dont remember the term for it) and the artist who did it messed up the stencil during so it does not look like it is supposed to. The only way to really "fix" it is to add white to define the shape more and fill it in properly. I'm glad so many are getting white on black so I can be realistic about my expectations during and after healing

I feel like I would get one touched up to see what that looks like. I feel like because it’s white over such an ink heavy area, the black spread into the white space a bit. I think if your goal is to do your whole back blacked out with white on top I would want to see if it’s worth doing two passes over since it would be a lot of work to do that

I have one right now and even though I am always super careful with the aftercare and only go to professional studios, it still happened and I can't stop thinking about what went wrong (even though I know it is impossible to know what happened and it could literally happen to anyone). With the amount of tattoos you got I was just wondering if you ever had to deal with that. It happened with my 10th tattoo :( but it is healing quite well now, getting better each day.

Disclaimer: If you're someone who might be looking into doing this kind of design, just understand that white ink can not be reliably removed by laser. Most cases have to involve a plastic surgeon. Some cases people have actually experienced white ink getting darker. The reason for this is cause most white ink has titanium oxide and/or zinc. Most brightly colored inks have a different level of difficulty to them but white ink has proven to be the most challenging. You can actually find all this information on recovery's website. Not trying to bag on her sleeve cause it does look amazing! I just want to put this info out for anyone who's possibly thinking about getting a similar design and might not know this.
