    people do it with piercings too. yes that piercing cartridge was $2 but your ear swelled over the jewellery overnight and now needs to be cut out 🤗 saving $30 just to then need to spend a few hundred or thousand $ later. I actually just came from looking at amazon reviews of them, it’s actually tragic. and they show pics of the results as if they think it looks good when it doesn’t. 🫡 delusional.

As someone who wants to be a tattoo artist, I’d rather wait until I get an apprenticeship to start tattooing and if anyone gets a tattoo machine online, they need to only use it for fake skin. God almighty imagine if someone got that ink lab-tested, what would they find....When I was younger I also saw the appeal of stick-and-pokes and I won't tell anyone else not to. I did a few myself but I took it very seriously. If you want to do a stick-and-poke tattoo, you need to buy from a real, reputable tattoo equipment supplier for quality ink and real surgical-quality sterile needles, use gloves, create a sterile and clean environment, wear gloves, use proper disinfectant make sure you get advice from real artists, etc. because things can go wrong so quickly!

    I started with an amazon kit. 40$. Started on oranges and fake skin. Bought trusted ink to move over to skin. Worked on myself a bunch. Few years later and now I have a tattoo studio. These machines have their place. That place is the beginners learning portion of tattoo. Once you move past that, you need to upgrade to something that offers more quality control.

  • @lelalu101

    @lelalu101

    3 ай бұрын

    I respect the hell out of your start. But a $40 amazon kit from three years ago is so different than a sub $10 kit from shein. Getting affordable equipment to start out prior to working on humans, fine. Get proper ink and needles with appropriate safety certs etc for when you go to people. If there is a right way to do it you did it, not the shein nightmares in the video above.

  • @davinastein5776

    @davinastein5776

    2 ай бұрын

    @@lelalu101 so, the only part of your reply is that the 40$ machine is got from amazon, the 10$ machine from shien, and rhe 135$ machine at my local tattoo supply place are literally the same machine. The only difference is the label. They are all made in china at the same factory with the same components. Pricier machines with labels might offer a 1 year warranty, but my 1200$ microbeau machine is identical to a 30$ machine on shien. I bought it. They are the same. The only difference is the illusion of branding. And after rigorous testing between the two, I confidently swap them out all the time. Nothing wrong with buying wholesale.

    No no no. Not shein tattoo machines. The makeup was bad enough now this 😭 Here’s a fun internet tattoo machine story, when I was in my early 20’s maybe just barely 20 I had a fwb who’s house I was staying at, at some point he broke out a tattoo machine and starting tattooing his friend before they started I asked if he wanted me to draw on a stencil because they both know I’m a halfway decent artist who could freehand script with a sharpie for him to follow much better than this guy could with the machine. He said “no all good here!” And started tattooing I felt so awful for this kid. Later in the night I drew a realistic octopus wrapped around an anchor and he tattooed that on him too. What a time!

    this reminds me of when I took my stepdads tattoo gun to school and let my friends borrow it. One came to school the next day completely COVERED in jagged squiggles meant to resemble stars and moons. Some of his tattoos looked like he had started with no plan, fucked up, CROSSED IT OUT, and started again right next to the crossed out space. Its actually a miracle that he never got a crazy infection but he definitely struggled trying to get his first job. I'm worried that most of the people who turn to shien for this are children who view it as easier than trying to get your parents to both allow and pay for your underage tattoo. They dont realize how dangerous it can be

    making tattooing at home so cheap and accessabble really makes me worry for a spike in people getting HIV, besides the obvious infections they could be giving themselves, like babes it's soooo not worth it

    I accidentally got a 3D tattoo once, we figured out I’m allergic to white ink😭 it was pretty gnarly tbh, my whole leg swelled up but the tattoo didn’t, it sort of sealed itself and I had to sterilise a sewing needle and poke all 4 sides of the tattoo so it had some airflow it was the worst experience imaginable it burnt so bad while it was swelling and for about a day after I had created some airflow I can’t imagine how these will turn out and how much they will hurt when they get infected!

    I got a quite large breast cancer ribbon/black heart combination tattoo from a reputable artist, and I wasnt even as red as that red cross tattoo. I had my tat on my belly/hip line, so a painful, swelling prone area

    My bestie got cosmic tattoo machine (for the face) from a company that only works in pigments, needles for this machine, and machines. We pitched in together and i gifted it to her as an early birthday present 140$ for just the machine and 2.50 per needle Inks were stupid pricey because we wanted vegan ink from Japanese brand (dont recall sorry) I have 2 tattoos done from her and the first one healed like a dream and im still healing the second one so the outline is a bit raised but the shading and colored ink settled in wonderfully

    I'm just thinking about how painful a coverup will be since the skin will be scared after using these.

    I have a mast cell activation disorder and my tattoo sometimes becomes partially 3D as a result of it? It has a large flat black area to it and I get bumps on it sometimes when I can feel the MCAD be more volatile, smaller bumps on the more lightly colored areas too sometimes. My mom gets the same with her tattoos despite having like the mildest case of MCAD. Anyway yeah I'm pretty sure the tattoo could be really 3D if I had severe MCAD lmao, and in that case I probably would die from anaphylactic shock.

    I bought a machine off amazon, threw away almost everything else with it and bought $22 ink and some different needles. No problems thus far but I can see how easily things could definitely go wrong. I've been doing blackout on my hand and arm, also started one later on my leg so..

    Well, I have to say that I would like to buy a tattoo machine, but only to work on those fake skin things (to use the results in other projects). I would never put that thing on myself or - god forbid!!! - on someone else. That's what professional tattoo artists are there for, why would I deface myself like that?

    I remember doing a stick and poke tattoo on my leg as a teen, Thank god I didn't do it deep enough though and therefore it faded away completely in less than a year.

    It's A&D ointment. Which stands for vitamin a and vitamin D ointment. Tattoo artists have been using it for years as an aftercare. Just about every tattoo supply place in America sells it. Maybe they don't have it in England?

    When I was in my first year of high school I hand poked a bunch of small tattoos on my arm in my English class. I used a sewing needle, a lighter, and a BIC ink pen (not the ball point, but a more “fancy” one), and alcohol wipes. I would draw on the image, poke it a bunch, wipe, draw the image back on, poke, etc until they were done. I tell people everyday I am lucky I didn’t get a serious infection and die. I covered all of them except one on the side of my knee because it’s a reminder that I, too, was a stupid kid.
