It doesn't matter if Lacy didn't let him know in time that she couldn't make it. You don't welcome people, put stencil on them then let them go out for some fresh air before start tattooing to suddenly remember that they stood you up the other day! If they had had an issue, they'd talk about it since the beginning like the adult that apparently they are.

Didn't he know that's part of EVERY job dealing with people 🙄 don't work with humans if you have no tolerance. I interned as a social worker in a social housing company and missed appointments without any notice are not a rare thing. As we were supposed to come to people's homes, we would make the trip for nothing. That's annoying but if someone was being rude to a client, they would be fired on the spot. If you are not paid by the hour but by the client, you should be even more careful with your behaviour.

Having a friend in the space sharing making the client stress and worry about placement is frustrating enough, but live streaming probably didn’t help the back and forth. I would be a bit frustrated too, especially when I book more than one appointment a day to be able to pay bills, spending loads of time placing and replacing a couple centimeters can be tough, and redrawing part of the piece would take even longer. but I wouldn’t have been mean about it, I would have explained the situation, ask her if we can regroup and I would definitely ask not to be live streamed.

If the artist was researching her before the appointment, found out all of the (publicly available) info on Lacy's domestic disputes, and came to the conclusion that she beat her boyfriend... THEN WHY DID HE AGREE TO TATTOO HER IN THE FIRST PLACE?? All that says to me is this guy thinks it's important to do background checks, but doesn't view abuse as grounds to turn someone away? Not saying she was the abuser or anything, but that's clearly what the artist thinks of her.

I honestly think they made assumptions about a "tiktoker", went through her content, and confirmation bias took place.

A tattoo shop I know, if the artist posts they have a cancellation for that day or the next... they have people tripping over themselves for it. He could rebook it ten times over. But even if he couldn't that's what the deposit is for, because sometimes things do come up. So even if he couldn't fill it, he was still paid for doing nothing. He can't claim the design took effort so... he was just being lazy the day before & didn't try to fill it, or he has a bad rep/poor following already so no one was interested. And it sounds like she didn't even dispute losing her deposit for the previous day. So idk what their issue there was. It isn't like she just didn't turn up the day before then walked in like she owned the place the next day, she clearly made contact to tell them (according to her on the Monday...2 days previous). However, if that upset him then why would he even start putting the stencil on? Why not turn her away then? I think they agreed to the live thinking it would gain customers through exposure, but then he realised (after seeing the lives comments) that people weren't liking his attitude...unfortunately that is his own problem, you cannot blame someone for portraying you badly when it is your own words and actions that they are witnessing 🤷🤦. So, imo if the tatttoo artist decides they aren't going to tattoo the client, they shouldn't quibble about giving the deposit back, unless maybe the client was an asshole. I wonder if she paid on card, and if so, whether she can chargeback?! Hmm.

Everyone sucks here, but the tattoo artists suck most. She sucks for live-streaming because it’s just not a good idea to always have an audience for the things you do. It’s weird, and puts the tattoo artists in a weird spot because at the end of the day it’s a job and they need to get paid. And there’s the risk that if the tattoo parlor said no to the livestream, the audience could be offended and leave bad reviews just because they’re trolls. It also could have meant losing future clients. Also, that’s their work space and shouldn’t be made to feel cornered in their own work place. It’s also really irritating having a single person be the backseat driver over your shoulder about your art. Imagine hundreds of them all at once. HOWEVER, the artists sucked because they could have just said no to the live stream. They could have just minded their business and not checked the comments. They could have just let the comments roll off their back like water on a duck. And finally they could have just politely asked her to end the stream or go somewhere else. They handled it so bad at every single step and were incredibly rude. Their attempts to justify their actions is gross. So, everyone sucks, but the artists suck more.

The beginning of this video reminded me of the tattoo I have on my arm that I found out was stolen art :') I got a rather impulsive flash tattoo last year while assuming that the artist did the design herself (naive I know it was my second tattoo) and then a few weeks later I saw that exist design on pinterest at least 4 times by just googling 'sun and moon tattoo'. Idk what to do with it now, I still like it but some of the lines have not healed well and I don't like walking around with stolen art on my arm. I've been debating either getting it altered to be more custom (while fixing the lines) or just straight up covering it. If this comment section has any ideas I'd love to hear them :) It's just a basic sun and moon with faces that overlap and some clouds tattoo. I knew it wasn't an original idea, I just thought it was an original drawing :'(

I think the idea of having it fixed and customized would be really cool, especially if you do still like the tattoo. Obviously stolen art really sucks, but it's also an opportunity to make it more your own while keeping the basic concept.

This is a bit of an everyone's an AH situation. I think live-streaming a tattoo appointment without the artist knowing about it well in advance is kinda sh**y. I don't know if she had agreed upon filming, but if she hadn't, she really put the artist in a difficult situation. Yes, he could have asked her to stop filming, but there are millions of those videos online where people in customer service are made to look bad when they ask you to stop filming. And (I'm saying this as a self-employed person in a creative field), agreeing to be in a live-stream for publicity is understandable. Advertising is hella expensive. Getting online visibility when you are a business owner, not a content creator, is hard. We all pray for someone to tag us, or praise us online. Refusing the opportunity to get free publicity means actual money lost. All of that being said, at least based on the live-stream, she did get treated poorly. Of course, we don't know what went on before she started streaming. Maybe everything the artist says happened. None of that was an excuse to get personal. I'm not a people person, but when dealing with customers, I'm willing to bend over backwards to make them leave my shop happy. As much as I prefer making my art over dealing with challenging customers, in the end, without them, I have no business. Bad reputation might get you a couple of clients who think it's cool to be bad, but good reputation brings you a lot more. Also, if you love your tattoo artists, or any of your local businesses for that matter, give them that free publicity sometimes. It costs you nothing to tag them, but it makes their day.

@@treacletattsAh right, I was in a studio the other day and a lady had her child in the waiting area with a friend, they needed a wee and the receptionist said no one under 18 was aloud on the tattoo floor, it must just be their rule then which tbh is a good rule to have. With ink/Body fluids etc probably isn’t the best place for a child to be, everyone’s got different situations though I guess.

So like at first I got the tattoo artists' frustration at having people on the live trying to tell him how to do his job. Like I get that. But then when things go to 100 for no reason is crazy They should have first asked her to stop the live or pause it until they get ready to start or something. They could have done so much to solve the issue. And yeah if she is there and willing to get tattooed and you are refusing then you have to give her money back

Totally agree. I also find it odd how people keep saying that they should have just asked her to stop streaming, when the real tea is that she never should have been streaming in the first place. I don't know, I'm just a big believer in personal responsibility and being considerate of others and I would never even ask if I could livestream in a business. I just wouldn't do it, it is weird and people may agree to it despite them feeling uncomfortable.

'Artists' like that are the reason I am so scared to make appointments with new artists. I am very sociaphobic, I always feel like a burden to others, think the stuff I say is stupid or annoying etc. etc. I found an artist whos work I rreally, really love and got nearly all of my tattoos from him. I nearly had a panic attack when I met him for the first time to start my right sleeve because I am constantly scared that people are mean to me or annoyed by me. If something like that would have happened to me I think I would be done with tattoos forever because never again would I risk this happening again.

I’ve brought art that I DREW to my tattoo artist and it’s the ONLY times they’ve copy-pasted a piece on me. Otherwise, even with very simple designs, they take it and use it for inspo for their OWN designs. I get why some tattoos are popular (the semicolon is one that comes to mind) but copy pasting a whole design is so wild 😭

HOWEVER That does not excuse the way she was treated. They fully ganged up on her and escalated a situation that could have been easily resolved. I can't believe the lies the artist was spouting! She was streaming from before she walked in, then again once he finally decided to show up. It shows how long the streaming went for, and it was not 3 hrs! Also, trying to 🐂 💩 about no other tattooist being involved, when you CLEARLY hear the other tattooist having a go at her! So unprofessional! She may have cancelled her earlier appointment at short notice, but that's what the deposit is for! If he couldn't get another client with (according to him) 24 hrs notice, then the shop must have a bad name! Any tattoo studio worth anything will at least have walk-in customers, if not others calling for appointments. Yes, she definitely deserves her money back. Why should he be paid for doing nothing? He didn't even design the tattoo!

stencil placement is so important its better to redo it a couple times until the artist and client are both happy with it. I have a garter tattoo on my thigh and legs are not perfectly round and she adjusted and redid the stencils until it was correct. It took a while but I am glad she did. A good artist explains to the client why it looks the way it does.
