Cory would've beat prime Cruz imo , Cruz wouldn't be able to deal with someone with the same type of striking style and footwork, Cruz got by alot in his prime with his size and reach advantage he was literally fighting guys who were 5'4" 😂 not saying Cruz sucks because he's an absolute legend but he was a product of his Era

High level competition swimming always has the fear of not having enough of a gas tank. Seven days a week of training and building that gas tank. In that regard the two have that connection with one on one competition.
I think it could be hashed out if the leaders of the MMA athletic commissions, longtime top fighters, trainers, experienced MMA doctors and historian/people in the business forever like got together and everyone got their ideas out to the room and once they think they have all ideas for good rules on the table they vote or debate them till there's a good conclusion. It could be done. This is a super wealthy industry and it's not like the full rules need to be written. A day or so conference could get it done for the most part if there's a will.

The problem with that is alot of fighters are bias and petty and like to hold grudges and let's be real aren't the sharpest tools in the shed , Frank Trigg is one of the only ex fighters that started working with commissions after he retired from mma , i think there's a reason most ex fighters aren't working with commissions

Also I think that having a point system in such a complicated sport such as MMA will encourage stylistic changes by fighters to ensure that they win the fight. Sports like BJJ with one element of martial arts can be scored differently because its only grappling. Say that they implemented a 2 pt takedown and 1pt significant strike or whatever, the higher scored moves will be favored by the fighters and it could definitely drastically change the sport. This is probably why MMA judging has been the same for such a long time.

The answer is not stand them up or break them up.. we need stalling calls
Sublime Directory….IYKYK
So he’s literally me
I'm just thinking out loud, but maybe the answer is not standing fighters back up? You take a guy down and just lay on him with no attempts to or are prevented from transitioning to a more dominant position or land strikes and it costs you on the scorecards. Of course that assumes the judges aren't complete idiots, but I'd be curious to see how it worked in some fights.
Lmfao dude I used to watch those WSHH fight compilations every month growing up
Tap into your inner naruto and train! Great podcast
Watched Jorge on kimbos shit back in the day. So sick.
How bout we just don't allow refs to stand fighters up? Every round starts on the feet... the least we could do to balance that advantage is to not stand up fighters for inactivity. It's far less of a problem now than it used to be. I remember watching WEC in the blue cage, and I mostly remember dude laying on top of other dudes, or up against the cage refusing to let go of the single leg. Lol rough times
Old ufc fighter should referee because they know
Little Joe blow hating on his competition thru his guest again 😂😂
I remember back in the 1970s I think it was when the Bruce Lee films came to our little local cinema. All the boys wanted to be fighters

I thought his fight with vera would be 100% kikckboxing because they were two strikers but he used wrestling and knocked him down a few times, I was rooting for vera to win but sand won well . in my view it was 49x46. I didn't understand his defeat to dilashaw because he was much more forceful in the blows, it's no wonder that TJ left with his face all hurt

Soccer players don’t have to worry about getting tired ?
@Ebvardh
Жыл бұрын
I’ve played soccer and got tired. I basically didn’t engage as hard and it was okay. If you fight and you get tired, you can do one of two things: 1) Forfeit the fight or 2) get the shit beat out of you by someone who hasn’t slowed down as much. See, the objective in MMA as a sport isn’t to “beat the opponent” per se. The actual objective, according to the unified rules, is to finish the fight. This only happens one of two ways: A KO/TKO, or a submission. The main ruling criteria if none of these two things happen is significant strikes. A significant strike is a hit that has the potential to end the fight. The other person isn’t just trying to outscore when they hit you, they’re trying to land hits or land you in submissions that will finish the fight. If you get too tired to defend against either of those two scenarios and you’re not giving up, you will have a very, veeeery bad time.

There is one other professional sport that is the same as what Sandhagen says about being tired and fighting; professional bull riding. To be the elite in professional bull riding you must tirelessly and unrelentingly work at it to become and stay elite. If you don’t and you attempt to compete at the elite level and you become tired. You will get your butt whooped and possibly loose your life; just the same as fighting professionally.
@AveryBlueRemix

Thats an interesting one I didn’t think about. Where a fighter can get hurt or brutally concussed if they get too tired a bull, like you said, could disembowel you or crush your vital organs with its stomp.
@jeremysmithers6119
Жыл бұрын
Pretty good analogy. Case in point watch Tuff Hedeman (not that he wasn’t elite) vs Bodacious where he gets his face slammed. Any other human probably would’ve died on impact but Tuff walked out of the arena to the hospital. You have to be tough (no pun intended) SOB to compete in bull riding. Same as fighting in any form of combat.
