Still saying city shot themselves it's not true pep just couldn't cope with tuchel tactics. First game pep played two defensive midfielders he lost Second game he played a defensive midfielder and a striker he lost. Third game no defensive midfielder and striker still lost. Nothing shows if he had played a striker and a CDM he would have won

@@tolukmactaw8032 Whilst i take ytour point, both Fernandinho and Rodri usually cut passess out like the one Mount played for fun, and might well have done here, yet strangely neither player was selected for this match ..... yet I didn't see Tuchel leaving the likes of Mount and Kante out! Pep struggled with Tuchels tactics because Pep himself played the wrong formation and tactics .... he played players who are completely out of form like Sterling, amongst others, and omitted both defensive midfielders, and left the back line totally exposed ..... whilst Tuchel maintained a five man backline with the full backs breaking every now and again...and that allowed the likes of Chilwell to have probably his best game for you. I could see it clearly wasn't working for City even after 15 minutes, so why couldn't Pep? Fernandinho was one of City's best players last week against Everton, and assisted in two of the goals .....yet Pep decides to leave him out of the final..

Still writing Chelsea off so bad. They played the art of defences with more shot on target on goal. It's high time to recognized the art of defending which is a huge part of football just like attacking.

Chelsea were the overall better team, both in going forward and defending. City did have more possession, but what good was that when they clearly had no clue what to do with it.

I still think we should believe in Werner for one more season. We signed him to be the number 9 for us. And I still believe he can be that guy. Considering he missed like 22 big chances, which would have been 34 goals for him this season.

So much excuse for city's loss. in the FA cup semifinal fernandinho played through out and city lost... The fernandinho plan didn't work then so pep was right in making changes, it's just that Chelsea were good in adapting. Only bitter losers will make excuses, give credit to chelsea. They outsmarted city.

Fernandinho's situation is not the same as messi, he is not that integral for man city, but what i mean is, just because he played a match and they didnt win, doesnt mean he isnt an important player. Moreover, pep also started sterling, who has been off the whole season. We respect chelsea for winning and we do give them credit, but we also think there was a tactical error. @@solaimanmashrafe9595 kante best player “by far”? wdym, the entire chelsea team played great, give them their credit. Reece James and Chilwell shut down Mahrez and Sterling. Azpi, Rudiger, Silva and eventually Christensen shut the City attack down completely. Havertz and Mount and Jorginho had terrific games and even Werner put in a great shift despite missing chances. Kante was good but he was far from the only good player. You can admit city were outplayed.

I didnt mean he was the only one who played well, but he was definitely much better than others. And stop saying "outplayed", they might have played much better, but its not like city was left scratching their heads and were baffled by their plays and tactics. Mate, tuchel got into peps head. Fa cup, he started with rodri and fernandinho.... lost, in the pl game, started with only rodri lost. Ucl, without cdms..So all the praise should go to tuchel and cheslea. Ppl are saying it's bcz of peps team selection but u just have to see the bigger picture. And u were spot on bout timo! Pretty much everyone thought it would be a walkover for City, especially since they believed Chelsea only faced City's weaken B and C squads in the previous two games and ignored the fact that tactically Tuchel neutralized whatever Pep threw at him in those games. The only ones who truly believed Chelsea could beat City three times in a row were mainly Chelsea fans, and to an extent United fans, who were sweating at the thought of City winning a UCL Trophy.

Yah, Werner was essentially a decoy striker. He had City's defense guarding him rather than Kai Havertz which led to Kai scoring the winning goal.

One thing I feel isn't talked about enough is that Pep had no other choice than to go without a cdm, because in his last two matches against chelsea which he lost you can notice that any time Kante or kovavcic were in the game the cdm always tried to focus on them the most,,,,,,, leaving either Reece or chilwell free, those two are the kind of guys that can easily dribble past their marker and open up into space sending a cross or low through ball to the flanks and the likes of Werner could take full advantage of that to square the ball into the opponents 18" and produce goals, so Pep didn't want what happened in the fa cup to repeat it self

He didn’t play a CDM because Tuchel has beaten him twice before. In the league, City were winning 1-0 and would have been winning 2-0 until Aguero missed that panenka penalty ... City ended up losing 2-1 and this damaged Pep’s confidence and made him insecure and over-think.

Mostly this season, timo was very influential non scoring striker...first of a kind i guess.... We know his chances vs scoring ratio... His chances has become his asset this season even though he ftequently missed...because the chances he gets comes by his movement and speed and every opponent knows that of his qualities and also the threat he posses... He keeps more opposition players wary about him and around him than any normal goal scoring striker...this breaks the opponent psychologically. These may b unnoticed but it did exist

@@1999deshan I don't think Pep's mistake of not playing DM cost them the final. Previous two times they played us they did played Fernandinho and Rodri on two occasions and Pep lose both the game. It's not like we forced them not to play Fernandinho/Rodri. Furthermore, Chelsea's disciplined and aggressive defense leave them no chance in organizing their attack. You can see how frustrated they are when James, Chilwell, Kante kept forcing them to make mistakes and unable to string attack. Our players had higher spirit in playing the final.

Many people fail to realize the psychology of these big games. City were the favourites and were clearly under more pressure to deliver given the outcome of previous encounters and the media hype on their side. Moreso Gaurdiola was educated enough to know that his biggest challenge going into the game was figuring out how to break down Chelsea's defence so he opted for a more adventurous formation. His thinking was simple, get more creative players on and improve his teams chances of wounding Chelsea, but it didn't go exactly the way he had hoped because Chelsea were resolute. Chelsea depended on quick structured transitions and selective pressing in higher areas in order to outwit City offensively. Playing a defensive midfielder could have improved the defensive aspects of City's game but could also have blunted the dynamism Gaurdiola would have wanted against Chelsea. Finally Chelsea knew exactly what was needed: Defend resolutely and patiently wait for the right time to strike but City seemed to be more eager to burn off Chelsea at any cost. Finals are very delicate and it is very important to play safe and wait patiently for the right time to strike, City lacked this and that is what cost them the game.

Just imagine if at the beginning of the season, tuchel arrived. We could win everything!

...because they have three central defenders close, the two holding midfielders who move in relation are close, the pockets are close, the striker and the two [others in attack] are so, so close. The distances are so close, and at the same time they are so wide with the wing backs, they are so good with the ball in behind. That’s why you cannot be close because they push you [out wide] and they have a lot of good players in the middle. That’s why it’s difficult to face teams who want the ball and want to play with the ball.

Being football coach/manager is not easy!When you’re a a winner they expected you to say”it’s about them,not me” or “They deserve it”and when you’re a loser you just can’t say the same words.

4.04 i totally agree with this. Cos i felt Tuchel learnt from the FA CUP defeat. Hence why he had ziyech n pul in the bench ....and went with his GUTTS . Kai x Timo x Mount.
