The whole plan was a miscalculation from Pep. He thought that dropping holding midfielder and thus having more attacking players would create tsunami, but instead it has all backfired. Do to the lack of intercepting and passing capabilities in the mid-field the attack itself chocked and got reduced to primitive efforts. There has been nothing inceisive and dangerous created. Could you recall anything in the case if I missed it?. there was Nothing... City just started to cross the ball into the box in an almost random fashion as they have not been able to create much.

From the round of 16 Kante received 4 man of the match awards. Including 3 in a row, both semi final legs and the final. What a player😳

How about subbing on two cdms after conceding a goal when you didn’t start with any? If you were to poll football fans how Chelsea would play this game they would have said “defend and hit on the break”. Selecting a team with no midfield coverage for the defenders was like asking to lose against this Chelsea team. But there were other huge problems. Why play Foden centrally? He’s been so effective out wide. Sterling and Bernardo start? They’ve been bit players all season. Both pretty much horribly out of form. Chelsea played fantastically but City were the worst version of themselves and I think that blame lies mostly with the manager. They have only lined up even remotely close to this once before all year. Why now? So strange.

Klinsmann hasn't got a clue. Lampard had to overcome a transfer ban, previous managers had to overcome horrific player purchases and lengthy contracts. Pep has been given a bottomless pit of cash to spend over four years, and FIFA looking the other way to his flouting of the FFP regulations. He/they were outplayed and outcoached. This is a Chelsea win, not a Man City loss.

Pep was a fucking cdm himself the fact that he chose not to play rodri or Fernandinho in the biggest game of the year when his system is built around a cdm is inexcusable. Chelsea didn’t do anything special if anything they were pretty average. They did exactly what we all expected. They defended well and Werner missed good chances. I would consider Guordiola to be among the best coaches in the world when he goes to a normal club having limited resources and wins big with them. He has coached best teams having biggest budgets. It is easier to become a good coach with teams like prime Barcelona, Bayern and City. Waiting him to achieve the same with clubs like say Napoli, Tottenham or even Dortmund.

RDM had a team of serial winners and warriors at his disposal, JT, Drogba, Cech, Cole, Lamps - all legends of this club, Tuchel had a mix of leftovers from the previous managers, academy lads and a whole bunch of new arrivals, none of whom ever won any serious trophies, so, there's a BIG difference between RDM and Tuchel's achievement. Also, with all those legendary players, we've quite clearly parked the bus against Bayern, TT never sits back, this victory feels a lot more special than the first one!

a one-sided comparison... this Chelsea side, player for player was far stronger than the one in 2012. you mentioned four elite players yes, but they were all past their best, by 2015 they were all finished at the top-level of the game, barring that the 2012 team was a real mixed bag of deadwood and inexperience, just look at that the backline we started in that final. Cole (who was in his penultimate season as an actual starter for us before being replaced) Luiz (who Mourinho shot out the door in an instant, Cahill and Bosingwa... we started with Bertrand and Kalou on the wings for christ's sake... this team, player for player is stronger, you still have Azpilicueta and Kante present, who were key players in two PL titles each, Zouma also contributed heavily in the 2015 title win. Kovacic, who is a serial winner, and quality throughout in Rudiger, Jorginho, etc. that 2012 win was far more unexpected, and far more momentous for it, though this one is special in its own way too.

BS, sugarcoating pep, he has no excuse, his team is the most expensive in the world, and he's been there for quite a long time now, congratulation chelsea and thomas, outplayed and tactically nullified big bad favorites city

Yeah man, this to me is the biggest tactical bungle job I can recall. Chelsea are defensively strong and gave excellent attacking movement (if wasteful finishing). A newbie would simply employ holding mids to try to prevent getting stung on the break. I thought city had learned that lesson. But it's more than that. Foden central instead of wide, Bernardo and sterling start now? KDB as false 9? Gundogan as a pseudo holding midfielder? This setup minimized city's strengths and played to Chelsea's. City didn't need genius today, they just needed common sense in the team selextion.

End of the day. City made a defensive error. Chelsea made the most of the error with a brilliant pass and great composure to score. After that city lost a bit of confidence and Chelsea defended brilliantly. Chelsea's counter attacks also had city scared and if our forwards had been a more clinical it could of been 2 or 3. When it's a 90min final with all of the pressure it can come down to the smallest detail. City never really seemed to have belief after the goal and especially after De Bruyne went off. Chelsea winning the champions league was a gigantic achievement. If it wasn't City would of won it by now. COYB🔵🔵

Why Fhy Chelsea played great, but city haven’t lined up like that all season. It’s just super weird. They all looked poor today because almost nobody was playing the role they usually do nor in the system they usually do. Chelsea may well have won anyway but it was disappointing to see Pep select such a random formation and team for such an important match. I wanted to see an epic clash, not one disciplined and energetic side just run over a confused and frustrated bag of talent.

It's unfair to blame Pep for his tactics. He had already lost to Chelsea twice, hence changing his tactics was justified. Chelsea's defence is very strong, hence he had to make some attacking changes.

Fun Fact: Tuchel and Pep met in a restaurant in Munich back in 2015. They discussed tactics together and even used salt-and-pepper mills from their fellow diners as players to have a more visual understanding of each other's game plans. Both wifes left the restaurant without their husbands. 😂

He looked dangerous for about 12 minutes. Then he started beef with James and disappeared into the ether. Everyone is surprised because Pep has barely relied on Sterling at all and Sterling mostly just dribbles the ball into trouble and loses possession this season. I loved Sterlings play a couple of years back but that dude is off a cliff. But everyone looked bad today because they played a horrible system that nobody felt comfortable in. And got absolutely dominated for it. Starting Sterling is just one small facet of a complete tactical breakdown that we witnessed today.

Didn't Fernandinho start the FA Cup semi's and get schooled?? Oh and didn't Rodri start the 1-2 league fixture and get schooled too?? And I thought they were B team players🤔🤔🤔 I'm confused

Jurgen talking about Chelsea's foundation was laid before Tuchel came. OKAY but..Pep had his team, his preferred signings. Touchel had to work with what he got when he joined Chelsea a few short months ago. So in terms of who had the more settled set up, Pep was the one who had the easier task.
