4141 or 433 holding, false 9 doesn't work. Most importantly no ball hogging. Sterling and Mahrez were ball hogging than taking the risk. Also a prolific physical number 9 would have cause that chelsea back line atleast some problem.

It wouldn't have made any difference . They played a dm at Etihad didn't make any difference. The formation he played in the champions league final was precise he knew exactly wat he was doing by using Mahrez and sterling to exploit the half space in between the lwb and LCB and the rwb and the rcb, it was a nice idea however chillwell stuck onto mahrez it was sterling that exploited James in the first half but that idiot didn't score that first chance

@@banger2998 Chelsea cannot be broken down in a low block. The back 3 with Kante upfront are just too much. They can only be defeated in the counter, i.e., Aston Villa, and West Brom.

Pep is so kind. He actually equalised Werner's inability to convert half chances with a Raheem Sterling start, forgetting that Werner even on a bad day will rip defenses apart with his runs.

It was Mounts brilliance that created that goal. Havertz still had a lot to do to score the goal. The other defenders were out of position because they were attracted to Mount not Timo. Now the big question is what did Timo do with the clear cut chances he had nothing. People like you without a brain call people like Wright and Shearer idiots. They are clearly pissed off with Timo. Anyways intense match where I guess everyone thought city will have a clear win but who knows it's an intense match with favourites like KDB and Thiago Silva injured halfway. I'm not sure if they'd be ruthless enough to sack him after just losing one game considering he's their first manager to even make it to that game

At first glance of the formation of Man City, I thought to myself where's Fernandinho? Heck where's Rodri? And why the hell Sterling is here? They were completely dismantled by the defense of Chelsea, especially Kante who was everywhere like a 7-Eleven store. I don't think Pep overthinked, he was more of outplayed by Tuchel. Honestly Werner's pressence helps the team alot. His inclusion in the team is very much justified.. He takes out soo many players with his runs. The space for that Harvertz goal was all possible because of that run. When he gets his confidence, he will be really lethal.

Nope they don’t regret his sacking at all. The players lost all faith in him a couple of times. PSG was playing absolutely awful with him on the bench and they really didn’t care about the games. They almost didn’t qualify to the champions league quarter finals. Tuchel lost all his men when he said that the players should continue to play during the game against a Turkish team when one of the referee said a racist comment to a player. Tuchel is a great manager, he just doesn’t have the shoulders to be a manager at PSG

The plan was to use false 9s to trick our backline into staying deeper so they can try and run at them. It didn't work because we were brave. However, you are right, because the second plan is, if Chelsea's defenders step up, attack the space however, Chelsea were prepared for that with Jorginho and Kante. The ecosystem in attack and defence is very very strong in Chelsea.

At least Man City fans can shut the hell up about their A team. Tuchel has done Pep three times in a row. Put some respect on his name.

Numbers didn’t lie, you only had one single shot in target which belonged to Sterling in the first few minutes, your expected goal is about one half, meanwhile ours is three time as high as yours

The chillwell - mount connection is insane

Chelsea didn’t mind leaving their flanks open for crossings since City had nobody to cross to. When Agüero and Jesús finally came in, Chelsea just sat deep and ran out the clock.

He played in both games against Chelsea before the UCL final and City lost both. Pep probably lost faith in him and decided to try something new to counter Chelsea.

Kante often joined the front 3 to create 4v4 at times, with the fullbacks staying back !! City were at times pressing too much, their players gave up their positions in order to press, that dissolved city’s tactical positioning!! Chelsea on the other hand did awesome zonal positioning and pressing !! leaving the least spaces for city !! Pep was somewhat outclassed last night !

Gundogan is most effective when he's allowed to make late runs in the box. His combo play with Foden is superb. Maybe he should've been played in his natural position rather than Fernandinho's position. Plus when Sterling hasn't started for so long, why now? But Manchester City didn't do much wrong. Just Chelsea had good timing...

The Chelsea goal came from 6 passes playing from Mendy, up the left, with a decisive defense splitting pass from Mount to Havertz to score at the end. I'm not sure how you call that playing on the counter.

It was a brilliant performance from Tuchel and the entire chelsea squad. They defended really well against city and tried to hit them on the transition with direct balls towards their quick front players. Kante did well in disrupting the midfield, james and chilwell both played really well against sterling and mahrez. In my opinion Zinchenko was a fault for the 1st goal. He just let Havertz make a run on him goalside to be through. It was a briliant pass from mount but zinchenko could have done better in terms of his positioning and recovery. U can see it at full time when zinchenko broke down in tears. He knows he made a mistake there. Pulisic should have made it 2-0 as well on the counter attack. Overall it was a great and well deserved win for Tuchel and his team. He is 3 for 3 against Pep now. What an incredible achievement.

I remember it was the 4 4 2 formation , then it changed it was more physical , players getting faster it switched to 4 3 3 . Then after the 4 3 3 the game became more more defensive minded it became 4 2 3 1 . Then some coaches adopted the 3 4 3 formation guys like conte . 2 speedy rb and lb to counter the 2 speedy wingers !!! In the middle u put a defensive midfielder and makele and kante the 2 best at this position .

@@AL-ur5oc Did you even watch the game? Werner's positioning and off-ball movement was so good. The havertz goal was only possible thanks to his run dragging ruben dias along with him. City were clearly missing a shrewd No 9. Chelsea didn't bothered on the flanks because City literally didn't have anybody to spearhead the cross.

You never get a perfect line up in a club like city. You have an in depth squad, where anybody can start without feeling the impact of others, those who are not playing can go straight in to any top team in Europe. Your excuses are not geniue. When fernandinho and Rodri were playing and you lost, you said it because gundugun and foden absence, now the reverse is the case you still complain. Squad in-depth sometimes can be a threat to a team's victory especially when everyone is for.

@@anesh7824 Mahrez did nothing the whole match, Chillwell had him under controll. There was a moment in the second half when he was 30,40 yards away from goal and tried to cut inside, he passed the first opponent, but then cheaply lost the ball to Kante. Furthermore, his defensive work was pathetic, Walker was multiple times left alone. Speaking of Walker: poor decision making when they conceded the goal. He wanted to go out and press Chillwell, but then went back because he realized that it would give space to Mount, but it was too late. Guardiola's decision to drop Fernandinho for Sterling was daft, but despite that it was embarassing for City that they couldn't create any real chances. The only City players who really fought and tried were Jesus, Foden and maybe Fernandinho when he came on.

These videos are absolutely amazing. Some much great work put into them!! If I had one small complaint for them though is when you switch from the 'whiteboard' to say a second half still image from the game, I have to flip the image in my head and it hurts my brain a little... maybe its just me. lol. But as a possible solution, maybe you could flip the still image and have some text at the top say 'flipped image from second half' or something like that? The biggest mistake was to play Sterling and leave Fernandinho on the bench....This pushed Gundogan into Fernandinho's position and made him useless in the entire game

Holy shit man I remember when I first saw your video when you were at 10k and would respond to all 50 comments crazy to see you now with almost 400k subs

Chelsea were also very disciplined defensively. They maintained a very horizontal compact shape and waited for their moments to win the ball back. Man city just couldnt figure out how to drag them out of position and were reduced to crosses and long balls, which were almost always won by chelseas physically dominant defense

One rule: never underestimate Tuchel like that. And he redeem himself after he went through after he was let go by PSG. On the other hand Guardiola has no plan B at all how to break the deathlock of Chelsea. Tuchel is tactically better then Guardiola. More pragmatic.

I felt the same. It was a close game. People think not selecting a CDM by City made it easier for Chelsea but that wasn't the case. Pep lost when he played a CDM against City. I think Tuchel has hacked Pep's tactics. Although, there were situations where if Chelsea were complacent, they would have conceded goals, but they were defensively and offensively well drilled. Next season Chelsea need to improve ball retention against small teams which I think they will. This squad is willing to win and improve and we can see that.👍

Pep tried out think tuchel rather than stick to his winning XI. Go look at the previous ucl winners Bayern 2020 Liverpool 2019 Madrid 2016-18 Barca 2015 Never thinkered with their starting line up,no matter what,it was "stick to the plan,improvise later"

He lost two German Supercups vs Klopp's Dortmund as well, and one vs Wolfsburg

Personally thinks that Reece was like leech to sterling n outclassed him and Rudriger / Chillwell cancelled out Mahrez/kevin threat that was setback to city, Pep had no answer to chelsea tactics

And now in 2023 after the Bayern Presse konferenz, Tuchel is having a much better squad than he had in the UCL Final. They've just defeated PSG. Meanwhile, City almost have the same lineup except Haaland, Alvarez and Kalvin Philipps (most likely not being in the bench) so its a interesting tie. Me as a Bayern fan I feel much more confident now there is no strong team left than can challenge us except Man City and Real Madrid.

Fantastic video. I told my friends Chelsea dominated this game and they couldnt get what I meant because of City's higher ball possession percentage. You can dominate tactically without dominating ball possession. (Mourinho showed this a lot in the past). Mendy was barely troubled in goal...This game and the first leg between Liverpool & Madrid really showed how important tactics are regardless of whether your a favorite or the underdog in a tie.

But why the heck did Pep played gundogan (as a dm) instead of fernandinho/rodri ??? That just doesn't make sense ... What gundo has to offer in that position that rodri / fernandinho can't offer ... Rodri is an excellent passer so ... And he should be knowing that hard working Chelsea midfield won't give acres of space for gundogan to exploit with his dribbling (the only thing ... I think rodri/fernandinho doesn't have )

Chelsea played 5-4-1,they were more than happy to let city have the ball so control was never the issue but containing their counters. Who on earth won't trust rodri or Fernandinho when they both kept haaland,neymar,mbappe,di Maria quiet?

Peps 4-3-3 looked like Sarris with Gundo Playing the Jorginho role esp in the first half. 2nd half Pep Changed tactics, pushed Foden n Gundo higher they looked threatening but all this was because Chelsea had a basic but effective shape. Tuchel got in peps head for this one. Tuchel 3-0 Pep

Pep be like my system work till FInal. Let change the whole system and F up again in the most crucial stage again by removing my defensive midfielder and let Ma Man Sterling who never earn his place for Final or especially crucial stages, i will let him play. The outcome was already decided when Sterling was in the line up.

Di Mateo was always meant to be a temporary fix, pretty much every expert agrees that Chelsea's 2012 UCL win was from the leadership of the veterans in the squad: Cech, Drogba, Lampard, Terry, etc. Tuchel on the other hand has proven to be a tactical genius at Dortmund, PSG and now Chelsea. He took PSG to the final for the first time in their history and only lost to a brilliant Bayern side. They were dumb to sack him, and it serves them right, they couldn't even win their league this year. Even if Chelsea is dumb enough to fire Tuchel he's going to be sought after by many top teams. He's a proven tactical masterclass and excellent at motivating players. Don't talk about shit you don't understand.

Hey bro I remember one saying "attack wins you game but defense wins you titles". Chelsea backline was rock solid . Mason mount is underrated that sensational through ball and havertz finishing it. Timo werner was threat to their backline with his runs. Everyone were with man City side claiming that they will thrash us. We ain't gonna beat them. Chelsea defeated man city's team A,B,C and now there aren't any more excuses. Pep was outclassed every time by Tuchel.
