How Chelsea Won The 2012 Champions League
Спорт
In 2012, Chelsea were playing the worst football that they had played ever since Roman Abramovich swooped in and bought the club.
Despite this, somehow, they managed to win the most prestigious club competition there is and shock the world while they did it.
Today we look back at how it all happened. The lead up, the main event and the aftermath.

"Contrary to poular belief, Chelsea WERE a solid team", from the starters, THANK YOU. I don't mind talks of how Abramovich's money basically made Chelsea a top European team 'cause... well, true, but I draw the line at saying they were some sort of abysmal permanently bottom -of-the-league club. Those sort of comments just piss me off.

Mourinho should be given credit to the foundation he did at clubs. This was the final touch of mourinho's work just like Ancelotti's madrid team that won the CL in 2014 was the final result of mourinho's Fondation from 2010 to 2013 Also the Chelsea team that won the league Under Conte was based on the ideology of Mourinho's PL win 2 years prior.

Yeah Mourinho instills the discipline and the winning mentality within the squads he goes to, that's why even though they may not get success straight away, they eventually get it a few years later. The Madrid and Chelsea examples are brilliant because the season after Mourinho left in both instances they were in the CL final.
@et34t34fdf

In Madrids case, Mourinho struggled a lot with german sides during his time there, Ancelotti changed the mentality i'd say and they consistently beat german sides after that, though Mourinho built the team.
8:11 To be fair to Guus Hiddink in particular, he won the FA Cup with Chelsea that year, and really helped to steady the ship in the league. He did well, and every Chelsea fan has respect for what he achieved for us.

It's hard to explain the depth of feeling everyone involved with the club had for him in those brief few months. He became a hero, was adored by all. As well as Ancelotti did, he's the big 'what if' from that era. I wonder if there's moments when he looks at the engraved watch the players bought him & thinks to himself did I make a mistake? Cos his career withered away immediately after this, we could've been that last swansong job that really cemented his legacy as the great manager he undoubtedly was.
It's worth pointing out that of the 6 penalties cech faced in the final, he went the right way every single time. Invaluable in that game

Well CFC on our badge stand for Crisis FC. Man seeing that drogba header still giving me massive goosebumps. This group of player was nearing their end of the cycle for Chelsea, and come close so many times, yet they choose the most dramatic way to find their closure. The likes of Drogba, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Cole, and Feirerra was on class of their own in terms of Chelsea legends in my opinion.
The timing of this video is just not fair. There’s a good chance we repeat this year. Love the content anyways mate 👍🏾 .

You seem dead set on that I ain't gonna try. But trust me the 90s had some cracking matches in the UCL and early 2000s too
Those years were wild, i still remember the words from Messi saying that they would rather fight against Real Madrid in the Champions than facing Chelsea, there was alot of bad blood between those clubs, and even today too i guess.
Amazing content as always, I'm not a Chelsea fan, but that 2012 win was well deserved, given everything that happens in 09.
Next year they won Europa League, which made them the only team who were actual Champions League and Europe League winners for at least one week, until Bayern final against Dortmund
I live to this back in ‘12. I was only 15. And when we made it, I celebrated like there’s no tomorrow.
Fantastic video as always man, plus it's great to see you in person as well!

Far from it, Chelsea finished 3rd in their group on 10 points, level with Shaktar Doneskt. They had a +6 goal difference compared to Shaktar's +4. The only reason why Chelsea didn't progress to the next round is because of the superior head-to-jead record for Shaktar (as they scored more away goals against Chelsea in the group stages). This meant that Chelsea had to drop down to the Europa League since they finished 3rd and they went on to win the whole thing being defeated only once in 9 games en route to beating Benfica in the 2013 final of the Europa League.

I still get emotional everything I watch that Ucl final. Every single game till that final had a lot of dramas and we was pretty much the underdog in every game - bar Benfica. We wasn’t the best team, but all the passion our team showed to never give up and overcome these adversities to win the final. Even if our most recent win was more dominance by us, I hold this too my heart more.
"They pulled rabbit out of the hat again" sums up our UCL 2012 campaign🔥🔥.

My guy, I love your channel. You've done many videos on Barcelona's great era of dominance with Guardiola. Can you please do a video on Johan Cryuff, as a player, as a manager that won the European Cup with Barcelona in 1992 (after he was beaten by the GOAT Sir Alex Ferguson in the greatest competition of all time the 1991 European Cup Winners Cup) and his influence after his retirement from management. Cruyff is probably the biggest legend in European football. 3 time Ballon d'Or winner, 9 Erdivise titles, 1 La Liga title, 3 European cups and many more trophies and individual awards as a player and European cup and 4 time La Liga winner as a manager. Probably the greatest and most influential man in the world of football as a player, a manager and as an influencer who Guardiola used as the blueprint to produce the greatest club side of all time

The first kit i ever got while i was a full blown Chelsea fan was the 11/12 kit. My mom got it on discount cuz the season was over. I wore that kit until my cousin stole it in 2018. I wore it to school after the final. I adored that kit because pf all the kits, the one my mother could afford was the UCL winning kit. I watched this match all the way through, with anxiety when i had to go home from my grandma's house and not knowing how the match was gping in those 15 minutes. This team, this era, this win, made me cry. I was 13. Not in a pub, not around friends, just me, the tv and the nail-biting penalty shootout.
To say I liked this video would be a great understatement
i ran out of my house and yelled in the streets when Drogba scored the header. i ran around my bedroom when Torres got the goal vs Barcelona i was spinning in joy when Raul meireles got THAT goal vs Benfica and ofc that comeback vs Napoli was incredible. we were 3-1 down and had sacked AVB. Nothing defensive or lucky about that 4-1 win
Still not used to seeing this handsome guy on my screen every time I tab back into my browser, gave me a little scare, great video.

That first CL win was justice for me as a Chelsea fan. The semi against Barca was justice for the previous times as discussed in your video and the final was justice for the shootout loss to Manchester United. I think looking back we maybe didn’t deserve to win that season but considering what had happened in the past seasons in the Champions League maybe we did for that alone.

The final was brutal. Bayern completely dominated them the entire game. Bayern was probably the most unlucky team during the last ~12 years in the champions league. Yes they won 2 titles, but considering how often they completely crushed top tier teams with 6-8 goals in a single game and often getting knocked out while being the better team was brutal to watch.
As a chelsea fan fan i cant tell you how much this team meant to me and this campaign is what made me love my favorite player of all time Drogba 😁🔵🔵💙
