john, if gxk makes 600 million, it will be the highest grossing godzilla and kong movie ever, hell, if you dont concidere jurassic park as a giant monster movie, then it will be the highest grossing giant monster movie ever. i mean i dont think a 600 million total box office is impossible here. and if it does, it will be a record.

I've come to temper my expectations for big openings leading to big final box office until after at least the second week results show how well a film might hold.

Kong always needs unnatural augmentation to compete with Godzilla (battle axe, mechanical glove). He’s clearly the inferior titan

​​@@CommissionerJim you're not wrong, but this is basically the equivalent of a street level character like Batman (using man made gadgets) going up against superhumans like Superman (with their new power every decade). They can't all equalize through sheer raw power, and people would cry the same foul if they started magically giving Kong pow... [....wait... is GxK actually a BvS remake? 😅]

Why did the live show get deleted?

Apparently the Spider-man / Superman 1976 crossover was a nightmare to make. Just the cover alone took weeks of negotiation. Who would appear bigger, who would be higher, who would be closer to the front, who's name would be first?

King may have knocked him out but Godzilla owned him. Scratched his chest and made him submit to his superiority. That’s all that matters. 😌

Godzilla needs to have new superpowers added to him every decade or so... but people get butt hurt that Kong got a metal glove. Fact: Kong knocked Godzilla out. Fact: Kong could have just killed him while he was out but opted to just try to get him down to hollow earth. Fact: Kong is always pulling his punches to a degree with Godzilla.

@@johncampea Godzilla and Kong didn’t gain anything new in Godzilla vs Kong. Kong had gotten the Godzilla Fin axe and still lost. Godzilla could have killed him there but made him submit in defeat under his foot. Don’t forget. Godzilla mortally wounded Kong. He was dying! And they had to defibrillate his heart with the ship. Facts. Godzilla reigns supreme. That’s “the way of the road.”

Hi John,love the John Campea Show! You said that in Shogun they speak 3 languages, English, Portuguese and Japanese, the thing is that I'm Portuguese, and I don't understand one word of the so called Portuguese language, it's like no language at all, it's just gibberish.

While pronouncing "Godzilla X Kong", the X denotes that this film is about both A & B like saying "with" without sounding it, so one would only say "Godzilla/Kong". It's a Japanese movie trend that they're pretty much honoring as they follow up using "VS". I'm with you on the one upsmanship of Kong in this one in thinking they'll go back and forth between who seems to win their "friendly" matches each time before they team up (if they do team up in a follow up, that is).

the show was lagging every 5 seconds. Jonathan didn’t think it was a problem with Spectrum, but it kept happening.

I totally understand John's point about digital vs physical media...however I think it is a little short-sited to say nothing happened to me so it's not a problem. It may never be a problem honestly but if a large supplier goes under and no longer can support the service that some bought movies are watched through, then you don't just loose 1 or 2 you misplaced you loose 100 in a minute or more. Or say Google, who supports a lot of the front end of digital media buys, they get a Terrible CEO or board. Or the company makes a bad decision or 2 back to back and they go under you loose almost everything under Google, KZread, and some other digital movie sellers. It seems impossible but 12 years ago you would have thought movie theaters were invincible, now most are on the verge of death and disappearing. It may never happen but with the Playstation deal and there was another loss of availability its become a little more scary than 2 years ago.

while I get the benefits of digital over physical, I don't think losing them is a very good argument, unless you are really that irresponsible lol, its not that easy to lose them in my experience anyway. My bigger issue is how some will suddenly stop working out of knowhere after a number of years, its beginning with my collection. I don't understand how people get them so scratched as well are they using them as frisbees? what are you doing with them other than putting them in a player?

Other than the police HQ fight scene, Malignant was really “meh” for me. I was two steps ahead before we got to the attic “reveal” at the end of the first act

Kong didn’t really knock out Godzilla. More like temporarily subdued him until Godzilla put the smack down on him.

I'm neither surprised or worried about [alleged] time travel or multiversal elements in Shang Chi 2 because they could amount to nothing major other than the source of the conflict or team up. If an ancient Iron Fist gets brought to the present (as is also rumored) it's a fair deal different from using the trope that removes stakes by replacing dead Character Z with Character Z.1 from the next timeline. If we think about it, the first movie had the closest thing to another Earth already in it: a pocket dimension.

I hold nothing against any of the MCU leads, so I say this from the POV that eventually all phase out of their role. I can see Rogue getting her hands on Captain Marvel, draining her powers, spending time regretting her role in ending a hero's career and serving villains, then going on to be a hero from that point forward. My preference would be for CM to be in a much better movie or three before such a point though, so it would line up well to see Rogue start out a reluctant villain in some other hero's movie then work up to that. Really, I saw an opportunity for a Shi'Ar reason behind the abduction [and cryogenic preservation] of thousands of mutants; their escape to return to Earth in the present [decades later]; with a few left behind as Imperial Cadets of the Shi'Ar. With that, Rogue [as a conditioned caderlt] could run up against Captain Marvel while she's considering a home for the Skrull refugees that the Shi'Ar wish to claim for themselves. That's one of many possible ways to honor the classic origin of Rogue's additional CM-sourced powers; but it is also much simpler (therefore very tempting to do by movie practices) to state that Rogue's powers of flight, strength and resilience are natural and charged by the amount of liffeforce she absorbs from anyone, and the other gained abilities are a tertiary side effect.

Robotech I'd in US Harmony Gold. They are a nightmare company. Better off selling the Movie as Macross but I believe Harmony Gold poses a problem there too. Btw John Transformers tie I'm with Jetfire G1 figure being a repainted VF1 Veritech Fighter.

Yeah supernatural established God exsist they hunt for God. Sent back done. 15 years though safe to give a finality to the show.

Next movie should tone down on the cartoonish keep monsters fighting still and be the focus but be more of a story. Can’t do this twice the same

Can you really make a good story with monsters, and not involve humans significantly? I have yet to see a movie which focuses mainly on monsters, and also has a story to back it up.

On the next movie MOTRA should get all the glory . She save the days again. Unfact u would love for a MOTRA solo movie))

Shogun absolutely had a dubbed version on Hulu. What do you mean? The dubbed is almost ALL English

That's actually why I think may not do that well in the long run. While it opened to far larger box office than its predecessor, it's probably because all the people that would have gone out day 1 last time didn't but did this time around. If it was great the audience would grow, but we may be looking at a severely front loaded run instead of a significant growth over the previous year.

I didn’t like Godzilla vs Kong. Definitely on the crappy level of the fast movies and Venom

Nah John, not that I agree with this, but one of the biggest common complaints about the MCU, is that most of the movies feel the same. A small minority of people had an issue that Eternals didn't feel like an MCU movie. I can't see many people actually having that issue. There were just other people a lot didn't like.
