Will an impregnated plywood hull last as long as a fibreglass hull? Does impregnated plywood suffer osmosis? Is the ply marine grade or hold some special characteristic? What happens if you get hull damage and reveal the ply cross section.. - Will it become water sodden and delaminate? How would you repair damage? Would you just use glass and epoxy? Is the use of ply panels a compromise with respect to design cases where you would normally like to have compound curves? Is a boat built at your yard in July as strong as a boat built in December with respect to resin cure?

@@PaulAnthonyDuttonUk Will an impregnated plywood hull last as long as a fibreglass hull? Yes. Impregnated plywood is as durable as fiberglass. Does impregnated plywood suffer osmosis? No. Osmosis only concerns polyester resins. You can’t have osmosis on impregnated plywood. Is the ply marine grade or hold some special characteristic? We only use marine-grade plywood. What happens if you get hull damage and reveal the ply cross section.. - Will it become water sodden and delaminate? There’s no specific risk of delamination. Wood deterioration only occurs after a (very) long exposure to water. How would you repair damage? Would you just use glass and epoxy? Yes, just fiberglass and epoxy. And add another small piece of impregnated plywood if needed. Is the use of ply panels a compromise with respect to design cases where you would normally like to have compound curves? The use of ply panels is not a compromise. It’s ruled by design guidelines: hard chine, elevated forefoot, etc. Is a boat built at your yard in July as strong as a boat built in December with respect to resin cure? There is no difference. We work in a temperature & hygrometry-controlled environment, so that the resin mechanical characteristics are maintained at their best level. I am leaning more and more towards RM. Question: are the plywood linings in the deck also imbedded with resin, or are they 'just' plywood?

I guess by the end everything is embedded, in this phase only the joints

I wonder what kind of model this yacht is, what brand and how much fit 😏🤠🤳

What is the hull gets damaged by sharp objects? Water will be absorbed by the wood, it will expand and swell. The structure will be deformed. So what the experience with scratches and damage to the hull?

I believe the hull is wrapped in a few layers of Kevlar.

Ракеты напечатанные на 3Д принтере, неоднократно дешевле обычных. Если бы на 3Д принтере научились печатать мега яхты, удалось бы сбавить их цену, раз в 5 или 10!

Great method of construction but not new or uncommon. I have been building yachts with plywood and epoxy since the early 1990's. These boats are still as structurally sound as the day they were built.

ragtime is a plywood epoxy boat and its old as fuck, check it out.

such a shame you have not discovered Plasticell foam boards .ok stay in the past I prefer to move on into the future .
