The range of skills and the resourcefulness required by this build/renovation/creation-of-value is beyond anything I have seen and certainly challenges every notion I have of how generalised and specialised someone can be at the same time. Let's recap, he showed prowess as an electrician, mechanist, machinist, surface finisher, fibre glass master, welder, architect, and more. I am honestly left speechless and I have been seeing DIY videos on this platform for a long time.

The rest of the world is pretty good at recycling parts especially automotive or electronic. America is traditionally the throw-away society. People toss a perfectly good PC into a landfill because it doesn't have enough RAM any more, but in other countries they scrape the tiny grams gold flake off old burnt out electronics to recycle lol. Pretty much anything can be fixed, but when it comes to cars or motors, literally everything can be fixed. Just look around youtube at the people who make budget race car builds from pic-a-part and junkyards

You never see a laptop come out to design anything. Mr Ho just sits it in place then his eye, and smart brain does all the laptop work and calculations. Zap here zap there and you have a brand new fabricated part you would never find in a shop without paying a fortune for it. When I think about all the high tech tools and machines we use in the western world to rebuild engines, I watch Mr Ho do it the old skool way, it makes me think, even If you turn back the clock, there weren't too many engineers in the western world who could do what Mr Ho can on his own. Even by today's standard. Mechanics in Australia these days won't even batter an eye lid at a rebuild job if it isn't a plug and play or with the aid of a laptop & software 🤦 Thank you Mr Ho for schooling us on how it's done old skool 🙏you are the man!!!

Restoring that ceased, rusted, flooded, barnacle infested engine is so impressive I almost can't believe it's real. Then, you weld up a new drive shaft and rudder. Then you do new panel work. Then you make a fiberglass shell. Then you put a finish on it in your back yard, but it looks like it just rolled out of a professional paint shop. I'm almost at a loss for words. Technical workers from first world countries labor are expensive. So I understand why most of them will buy something brand new (also to avoid the hassle) and toss away the old one which could be fixed. My dad who is a Mechanical Engineer from Philippines moved to the U.S and worked as a maintenance tech. He often saw his American coworkers throw out parts with minor defects or the ones that were still useable with no problem but just old. He was shocked to see that and thought how wasteful they were in his mind but just kept it to himself. He got used to it later on because their hourly wage was worth more than those items.

@@blackwater7183 I completely agree, I myself have done the same thing many times. I’m the lead farm hand/equipment manager for our sod farm. A lot of the times it’s cheaper to just buy new and replace, especially when you factor in the cost for wages and the money your currently losing. But working on a farm, there’s many times you can’t go buy a new part or replacement, sometimes it’s a homemade part or the company doesn’t make it anymore, so you just have to “figure it out”!

When he drives by stuff on the curb the neighbors were throwing out like old appliances, electronics, furniture, etc. he would sometimes take some home even though he doesn't need any of it. 😅 It really took some time for him to adjust, his whole life style changed not only because of the move. Back at home, he used to own a company until it all burned down which costs him millions of dollars and never recovered from it. It didn't help China was rapidly rising at that time and started to monopolize the whole manufacturing industry. Now he is an American patriot.

Not a yacht though. It is a little speed boat. Still cool. edit: All that time and he didn't make a hydrofoil. Fail.

I love coming across videos like this... I only wish I were able to do things like this, but think I am missing the focus to start and finish things. This is just absolutely AMAZING! Thanks for giving me something fun to watch!

And here I am patting myself on the back for cleaning the rust off of my wrenches. Absolutely incredible job - that motor restoration was mind blowing. Kudos!

This dude is a Jedi Master. Everything done with precision. I loved when he made his own gasket, I was stunned. And the Welding, nicely done. Working with fiberglass was the icing on the cake. Master mechanic and craftsman. You are awesome Sir. 👌 P.S. James Bond you have found your new Q.

I was stunned and my jaw was on the floor the whole 34 minutes as I watched this video. This man is a genius! Did he work for a boat manufacturer previously, how is it possible that he knows every minuscule detail and part of this boat? I wish that I could find and hug him. Also, give him some kind of award! 👌👌👌👍👍👍💗💗💗❗
