Yesterday I saw some kittens on the road I ran and took them home then my mom told me to take them to the vet later they said I could take them now I care for them and help them like I’m their father 😊😊

A family of opossums managed to find an opening in my heater vents, the young ones figured out how to push open the vents at night. We have 2 completely indoor cats, they killed one 2 nights running. We also saw 4 more peering up through a vent in one spot. They have attracted a skunk now! Critter catchers called, they crossed a line when they invited themselves inside! Then HVAC repair...I already had to get rid of squirrels indide my roof, a neighbor thought she was feeding birds...more squirrels than birds, and always fighting...then the turkeys came too for the food the squirrels knocked to the ground. Overpopulation at its finest! No predators around as there are no places left for the predators to live.

I live in Canada and we have raccoons, squirrels and skunks that get hit by cars a lot. People aren’t even educated enough to slow down when animals are on the road.

People think it's such a wonderful place but when you take a closer look we've destroyed so much wildlife, and "simple" things like roadkill add up, resulting in milllions of innocent lives taken away yearly. We're number 2 worldwide when it comes to destroying the environment😭😤 (I'm a huge environment person hehe😂).

I will say this. If you have an animal in the road in front of you. DO NOT SWERVE! It confuses the animal and gives a higher percentage of death. Keep going straight while slowing down. The only exception is turtles on the road when no one else is around, I would stop and help them instead tho. Also during deer season always pay attention where I live if there is a dead baby deer it means someone wasn't paying attention.

Casas Lalah Australian has the cute ring tailed possum as well as others within the possum species. We also have many other variety of marsupials. The sweet bilby is my favourite.

Yes they are marsupials. I was waiting for them to look in the pouch to find more. They hang onto mom's fur too, just like the Tasmanian Devil.

@@Defensive_Wounds I think the word you are looking for is monotreme, mammals that lay eggs. There are only two of those, the platypus and the echidna. The rest of the animals you listed are indeed marsupials, animals that carry their young in a pouch but they have live births.

I love Loretta so much. Her heart is like mine and I mirror all her reactions. Of course she got the mama cremated to spread her ashes on the earth where her babies thrive. That’s what I would’ve done, too. I love you so much Loretta and Eldad. You guys inspire me to find a way to do the same some day with my dad. Once I’m done rehabilitating my mom to hopefully walk and talk again someday, my dad and I are going to dedicate our lives to saving animals ❤️ EDIT: just an FYI, my father died when I was 7. I mean that one day I will dedicate my life to saving animals with him in my heart. I hope my mom will live to walk again and be independent again someday so she can see me do it. But if not, my Mama will be right there with me in a little mini earn around my neck that contains her ashes and my Papa’s watch in my pocket. We’ll do it as a family.

aquamation not cremation. It's a process that uses water to break down the body instead of fire. It seems so peaceful in comparison. Most states allow it for pets, a few allow it for humans.

The mommy sacrificed herself for the babies. She could have ran away, possibly dropping some of her babies from the pouch. But she curled up to protect them. Pay close attention. :)

It shouldn't! It should be only about domesticated pet rescue. The City's Animal Control should have been called, instead of an organization that rescues dogs and cats.

I am so glad that they rescued these precious babies. Mom gave her life to protect her babies, this is Heart Warming.

I interned at the Wildlife Rescue center near my house and we got so many of these lil guys (and one mama as well!) Thank you so much for saving these beautiful creatures :) opossums are the best

Her death, I keep thinking as I sniffle....still created life for her babies. First, that she birthed them. Second, that she died protecting them, even as this was clearly an accident. Third, a Good Samaritan person saw the dead mom, on the road, made the call... and acted to help. And then, Hope for Paws did the rest. Wow...

Opossums...awesome animals. Very misunderstood. This scenario happens more often than people realize. Mom killed and her babies survive. All roadkill opossums should be checked for surviving babies.

@The Catmother I work at a an animal shelter. We once took in a husky who had been hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road for several days. He had severe injuries but recovered and is in a happy home now. Always check.

I did this. I drove by a dead mom and could not get her out of my mind. I left work and went back. She had four live babies in her. I buried momma in my garden with her dead babies and took the survivors to a wild animal rescue.

I had a family of possums living in my garage. I didn't mind. It was a cold winter. I thought one was my cat when it was sleeping and pet it. So soft. Not scary at all. Sweet. And I think they are cute. Thank you for saving those cuties!

There was a story in the news about an old lady who found a stray cat, and then it became her pet. It turns out it was actually a possum, but she had bad eyesight, so didn't realize it 😆

Many years ago My grandmother fed a bunch of feral cats every night on our back porch.... Then one night we saw an opossum join in at the food bowls.... The opossum ate side by side, every night, with the feral cats for a couple of years....

@@manusoftar The sad thing is you consider something that will viciously bite adorable, and something harmless just trying to appear as though it will bite, horrifying. Possums have no cheek muscle capable of a serious bite, which is why they really only show their teeth, and if that doesn't work, they play dead, or pass out from fear.

@@kimdawcatgirl fyi the vet that treats my dog uses to work with wild animals like tigers, crocodiles, etc. He never dears being really close to those animals but when he had to perform a surgery on a possum that was trapped on a bear trap i remember he used a long stick with a needle to put it to sleep before opening the cage because of how bad they bit, not to mention that they can give yoi rabbies (or however it is spelled), so yes i am i formed...

@@manusoftar That's is incorrect that possums give you rabies. Their body temperature is too low to support the virus. Ignorance about possums is found in the veterinary profession as you have just proven. Being in the medical field, being a physician doesn't mean you know everything. Do your own research by people who actually work with possums on a day to day basis. Possums have a bad rap purely from ignorance from people who should be more careful with erroneous information.

Indeed, There’s goodness in all God’s creations. My Doberman teaches me many things I bring to my human world. 😎

I get upset everytime I see an opossum hit where I live. Esp when they hit one that goes to my compost pile. They even had a grooming tree. Lol. They eat all the bad stuff that makes neighborhoods look good, like over ripe fruit, rats, and roaches. They actively hunt roaches and rats in its area. Actually this is the first year we haven't seen an opossum every night in the yard and irs the first time I've had a rat in the garage. They eat 10,000 ticks a summer also. So give an opossum a high five every now and then. If you see them it means you have a healthy neighborhood, of not well. . .

I honestly had a hard time identifying the animals in the thumbnail

I was always told that possums were ugly and disgusting and every time I look them up they are captured in pictures at their worst time but they're actually so damn cute omggg

Yeah, Opossums are only ugly and scary when they're TRYING to be ugly and scary to ward off predators. Aside from that they are absolutely adorable :D

My heart goes out to the poor mommy still protecting her babies in death. Animals have a hard life and deserve every support we can offer them

As you start to like opposums more and more, start thinking that rats are just smaller versions of the opposums that you have grown to like and respect. All creatures are just trying to get through this life. Rats are awesome too just like the awesome opposum :)

To whoever saw a dead mom crawling with babies and called someone, leaving them in the middle of the street. Thank you for calling for help, but grow a pair and get the babies out of the street. For god's sake. You could have picked her up while she was alive without getting hurt, and dead she can't do anything to you.

They adorable and very funny. My dog got a hole of a baby to play with one night. I was so worried because it was just laying there on its side with its mouth open. Then I saw it open its eyes, see me, then go back to playing possum. So funny. and a useful survival tactice. It was reunited with mom, covered in dog drool, but unhurt.

kroakie4 they are in some places but most have grown to the point where they’re not really considered it, like many many other species of animals that are so called “native” to North America

Yesterday a friend mine find a guinea pig on the street. We feel like you on the recue. We feel so happy in helping a little animal. 😁

When Loretta cared enough to bring & spread the cremated remains, I burst into tears. :'-( She has a beautiful sentimental soul.

Bless you for doing what you do. I love Opossums, they are adorable, and a major part of our evolution of life. I have 4 that visit me every evening. Keep helping, what so many don’t. Fellow rescuer. ♥️💫

I’ve seen this one about 3 to 4 times now. And every single time, when I watch Loreta spread momma’s ashes where they released the babies. I start balling like it’s the first time watching. Loreta has such a big heart. ♥️😭♥️

I cried so much as you scattered the ashes. Rest in peace sweet Akira. ❤️

I'm surprised by my emotional reaction to this. Usually it's the plight of dogs and cats, puppies and kittens that tug at the heartstrings, but the care and concern shown for these differently cute "kittens" was still very touching. I appreciate Loretta wanting the mom's remains to be near her babies. So sweet. Thank you for taking care of all those lovely creatures needing help. God bless you.

I cried all the way through this. Opossums are such amazing creatures. So misunderstood little animals. THEY are our FRIENDS. We, on the other hand, are THEIR greatest THREAT

WOW, thank you again guys for rescuing the baby opossums, if she'd of made it she would have been so pleased! I'm so happy the babies are okay, they're adorable all 9 of them, what a sweet rescue and RIP to the 3 that received toxic milk.
