We've got plenty more work to do. Make sure you vote when the elections come. Otherwise we'll never be rid of the current crop of "laws for thee but not for me" type of politicians that are so bad that I have given up caring if it's because they're ignorant, stupid, or just plain evil. And just so we're clear who I'm talking about, one of them is the most recent former president, and is in very much a deep pit of political manure that they have only themselves to blame for being in. Were it me, they'd have been executed by firing squad for treason, and then insurrection, in that order (2 volleys, because I want to make sure they can't use their power hurt anyone ever again). One thing I know of for certain. It is normally the job of the voters to hold the elected officials to account for their decisions. That works for everything but the Supreme Court. The problem is that we've got quite a few bad apples in the Supreme Court right now as well. IDK how to fix that.

I think that this person wearing their fursuit to a rally is a good thing for the movement because it brought attention to the movement. I think a lot of us have started to tune out the Starbucks union efforts from our news feed and many others may not have been aware of the issue in the first place. But seeing an article about a fursuiter is unexpected. It makes us stop and pay attention to something we might have otherwise scrolled past, because it's fresh and different and interesting.

It's actually rather encouraging to me. Putting on the Fursona is a genius move. Social anxiety often stems from a doubt in ourselves, a fear for if what we are, what we say, what we do, might not be good enough. Fear of judgement, of having one's life destroyed in this age of cancellations and liars. But the mask is an icon. It's an identity. It's a wall. And as much as we see Apollo being a fantastic guard dog for us, to protect and warn us of these corrupt behaviors, the face inside that mask is also being protected by Apollo. His pain, and his grief, are being managed by someone bigger, stronger, and who cannot be assailed so easily. And that's where his wonderful oration comes from, that's where his power and his enthusiasm are made to shine, and this becomes a flawless example of the true power that the Furry Fandom has, and is often understated. It's not just a question of other identities. Of kinks and fan art. Of conventions and expression. It's also a way of materializing the human heart, it's most cherish traits being given form in their representation, like the animal spirits and shamanistic totems of old. It's a spirit, being invoked, to give strength, pride, and will to people. As said in the video, and I whole-heartedly agree... a very good boy.

I just never seem to understand how managers can put their employee's safety and sanitation on the line just to save a bit of money. Human lives are worth much more than whatever money you save by endangering them. It may be sappy, but it's true. because those managers wish to make decent middle class money and are pressured by corporate managers (i.e., district managers and regional managers) to meet certain sales quotas and cut expenses... the store manager of my local grocery store explained that they are expected to work 50-60 hours a week.... and even though it's a grocery store, they are expected to meet certain sales quotas which often don't match with the natural grocery store cycles (e.g., less sales in spring and summer months).

The best part of him being in a fursuit is that this brings up attention to the issue cause people are gonna read this as a onion article and later look at it and says "wait wut??? Dis real???" Which brings way more attention then anything else. It's the same logic behind Rainfurrest, the absolute insanity of it is what brings people to view it and causes media to cover it which results in it spreading further then it normally would.

So, just to explain unions... A union is an organization of workers who work together for fair treatment of employees in the company or industry they work for. For the most part, they do good things, but there is a downside. Some of the longer-lived union groups have become corrupt like any other organization, charging dues that completely negate any wage benefits members might have gotten and imposing their own unfair policies in a sort of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" type of situation. With proper oversight a union can be very beneficial but, as I outlined before, they need that kind of oversight or they become the very monsters they've sworn to fight.

One other major factor that I believe played a part here was the fact that, being a furry, you start to gain confidence in yourself AS your fursona. It lets you speak while you don't feel like you're being put on the spot or stared at by everyone, and creates this sort of mental safety barrier, allowing a lot of fura I know and have known to become completely different people when they suit up. They become more outgoing, confident, and not afraid to talk to anyone, even when I know the individual day to day barely speaks and keeps to the back row, as it were, socially. Because we are so welcomed and treated fairly by the community at events/conventions/online/etc. and there is so much support, it helps build up stronger confidence and courage.

I've been working for a union company for nearly 7 years now and management can be extremely corrupt at times. If you know your union contract rights and mind your p's and q's they just about can't touch you. When they try to pull something stupid and you request a union steward to be present for ANY disciplinary action they get their act together REAL quick. That and the laundry list of other benefits is the only reason I've been with the company I have for as long as I have. It's a shame it's so difficult to get unions set up in non-union companies.

I used to be extremely shy and introverted after years of bullying and abuse from those around me throughout my life. I still remember the first time I put on my very first fursuit though. The free-ness you feel from it, and that click of realisation that you can do what you want (within legal reasons) without anyone recognising you, or (social) repercussions for however you act. It's incredibly liberating and it really does open your mind and lift your confidence.

Gonna be honest here: there is very little that catches people's attention like a fursuiter in front of a microphone. Nothing turns heads quite like it and however you might feel about it, once they've got your attention there's no getting it back as soon as you hear what's happened. We all know the economy is bad, but most of us feel powerless to do jack about it - and then there's Apollo, in his white husky/wolf/arctic fox/whatever suit, standing there doing what you haven't had the courage to do yourself before now. He's got my respect for that.

For those against furries, let me set a few terms straight for oyu. Furry: a person who is a fan of anthropomorphic media. Anthropomorphic: a non hunam that contains human traits. Fursona: a personality or character of a ficticious anthropomorphic entity. Common things that furries are fans of include mickey mouse, paw patrol, scooby doo, spngebob squarepants, inside out, chester cheeta, tucan sam, and much much more. To judge someone basted on their fandom of choice is descriminatory behavous, and there are thousands of fandoms. Sports contain an anthropomorphic mascot for almost if not every single team reguardless of sport, except racing. If you do not like cartoon characters, and hate them with so much vitriol, please make your way to the nearest exit. you are not from this planet, and do not deserve to live here.

I totally get why people are put off by it, because while it doesn't have to be a sexual thing it often is. Of course that icks some people out. Sure, there's people who sexualize stuff in their fan circles but it's rarely as extensive as in the furry community. That's not an excuse to be a dick about it, though.

My jobs union helped get masks during pandemic and other safety equipment. They fought for yearly wage raises and are working toward an increase. Unions are collective organizing by employees for bargaining power against big power wielding employees. The aim is to leverage and balance power for employees to ensure fairer treatmebt+protect from abuse. Yes, there are fees when with a union. But the whole idea that they take more than what you earn is bullshit. I've been on both sides. And by the numbers, you get more with the union than what you pay into the union. They protect and provide ideas, and help remind power drunk employers that you are a person.

Joann fabric is as scummy of a company as this situation. I use to work for one and one store in my district went on strike. None of them are no longer in employment. Managers and store managers get a bonus for forcing the store to be understaffed. They give crappy hours and crappy pay and their benifits are crap. They will work you as a full time employee during September to December and then make your hours drop 90%. They will promise you lies and never act on anything they promise you. The higher ups ignore their leading stores and never keep up on maintenance. A store “remodel” that was due years ago just gave the store 5 new computers. Your equipment is like smashing rocks onto something until it works and they roast their employees alive and know about it. It was 120°f (about 48°c) in the store and I get a coupon email that said “waiting in line to hot to stand, order online and skip the line with this 20% off coupon” it pissed me off as I almost dangerously passed out three times that shift. Other companies need to wake up as well and listen to employees as people and not just numbers.

3:12 Employers of the states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, & others, this *ESPECIALLY* concerns you. I've seen Unions be threatened & blackmailed down, both somewhat oftentimes at ACTUAL loaded gunpoint, into not unionizing. And it's gone one of two ways: Police defer to the employer personally & actively threatening the survival of employees bc "he's the employer, & he calls the shots"; police are called, but they never show up; or nobody calls either police about, or employers on, this level of dogshit bc they're terrified of the reporocussions from said managers.

10:39 I need to expand on this point. People have a certain trait that, among positive things, makes them, let's say, "socially weak" when exposed. You say he's doing great in the video, but there's the thing: HE HAS (a fur) ARMOR. You cannot even look at the person beneath; he is shielded from exposure, and thus can bypass his fears and use his social skills unimpeded. He can speak not despite having a fur suit, he can speak BECAUSE he has a fur suit.

I would love to know how someone who makes basicly minimum wage or close to it can steal $20,000 in nine months. That is $100 a day 5 days a week for 9 months. No one who actualy thinks about it would ever believe that it ever happened including the cops who would 100% be called with that level of theft. I call bullshit that it ever happened. For me to believe it I would have to see the police report that this person was arrested and the court date that they actualy are being prosecuted.
